Allow me to further elaborate on each criterion... Detail: This is about the set itself, and whether it looks like something simple, like an old John Wayne movie or has the intricate attention to detail of a modern James Bond adventure. The more things that make it feel like a real place, the higher it will score. This can be having some (appropriate) props or unused doors or artwork. Congruence: Also about the set itself, but also slightly about what happens there. This is about color schemes and how it ties into the characters from a visual aspect. Or how it fits what I can discern about the characters visually. Like if a "girly girl" teenager has a Goth's bedroom, that would cost some points, but it at the same time the set went well together with itself, Integration: This is about what transpires at the location and how the setting goes with it. The more the characters interact with it, the better. This includes mentioning where they are. Appeal: This is about whether or not I see the set at all. If I'm solely focused on the actors, this won't score high. I want to at the very least notice the set. But it's only five points, because very few people go to movies just to look at the production design. Cinematography: This won't get you any points if the camera zooms in very closely to the actors' faces. The more I can see of the place, the better. Keep in mind this is only five points. Does this clear anything up or does it confuse you more? The GOOD news is: I have a job now, and it's as part-time as I'd like it to be. It's awesome. I start tomorrow - it's 26 hours a week for now, thus I will have time for this! (And no, this topic had nothing to do with why I want part-time, xD) So, now that I know what my schedule is going to look like, let's get going! Each user is allowed three nominations across any of these categories: 1. Babes 2. Classic rock songs 3. Movie setpieces You can nominate three in one category, a one-two split, or one in all three. The limit for each category is 40. Nominations that do not fall within the rules will be disregarded. I've simplified these rules as best I can and get them right, since... this is going to be quite the project. If you guys see anything I missed, let me know. BABES Human females only no fictional characters or drag queens. Women must be presently 20 y/o or older. Along with your nomination, include the womans name and three photographs (screencaps are okay) of her. Pics must be TOU-appropriate. I will judge solely based on these photos, so pick good ones! Look, Im weird (arent we all?), and I have a hat fetish, so I request that one of the pics have her wearing a hat. I wont disclose my taste but you guys can probably figure that out :P Heres the scorecard: Face: /10 Body: /10 Personality: /5 (just that she has one in the photos) Hair: /5 Hat: /5 Memorability: /5 TOTAL /40 CLASSIC ROCK SONGS Keeping this to rock music first released (whichever came first, album or single) between 1967 and 1986 (20 years' worth). If you think it might not be classic rock, it probably isn't. Because I only have so much time, be careful with nominating anything over 6 minutes - I may only listen once. Understandable lyrics is a plus, but I'll look them up regardless. The scoring will be as follows: Instrumentation: /10 Vocals: /10 Lyrics: /10 Hook: /5 (Does this song grab me as I listen?) Memorability: /5 (Do I remember this song after listening to the next one?) TOTAL /40 MOVIE SETPIECES Real, physical constructs only - no animated movies. Films must be from 1962 or later. Scenes should be at least one minute long and can be anything from a conversation in a living room to an entire chase sequence. I will watch until a clear set change or Ive seen enough to judge. | BlueCrystalTear 08/16/21 9:59:32 PM #32 | Play Abyss and Symphonia before you play anything after Vesperia. You 100% need to play Abyss because you're either going to love it or hate it. Me? It's my favorite game of all time some days (it's Persona 4 Golden on others). I too enjoy the battle system a lot. Graces has the best battle system in the series probably, and its cast is a bunch of weirdos constantly messing with each other. The sad part is that there's even less plot than Vesperia and the character backstory is seriously lacking; it's a fine example of a cast that is far greater than the sum of its parts. It's enjoyable while you play it but ultimately less memorable. The Xillias are good but mostly standard Tales fare, and are must-plays only if you like the series. Zestiria is a heaping hunk of cow shit, and should be avoided at all costs. The plot is boring and generic, the character chemistry disappears for the entire second act, and the battle system, though fantastic at the time, hasn't aged well. I'm trying to find things that are kinda cliche because I don't want to do something that's so original that a reader would have no clue what the hell I'm talking about. But at the same time, I don't want to be so cliche. Finding that happy medium is difficult. It smelled of blood. All I could do is float. I wasn't drowning; in fact, it ran over my eyes as I came toward the light, a light which I could clearly see as my destination along the stream. There was a magic to this place since it defied every reality I've ever known, an eerie feeling permeating the air. I couldn't begin to understand it, but this is where I was, and I had to figure out how the hell I got here. I was hoping to find someone for answers, but as the light consumed me, I realized that nobody else was here. I was alone, and I had no idea if I was captive or free. The "light" is probably the best angle here since of the death metaphors, it's the most ambiguous. Do you like this better? I should be fine once some of this is out of my system. I'm trying to figure out a stream-of-consciousness way to write a way to describe a first-person account of death, without the narrator realizing that they are, in fact, deceased. It sounds simple, but it's hard to do this convincingly. And since I'm me, once my curiosity is piqued... yeah, I wanna answer. So here goes: The water was black, a stream carrying me toward the light which radiated the aura of angels. A beautiful, beautiful light, one that would most certainly end my dream. Abruptly, the black water rushed me through the light, and I awoke at a stairwell. I began to climb. And climb. And soon, I saw above the clouds. ...ugh, see, that's the point where the narrator recognizes their death, that they're are headed to the Pearly Gates. I felt myself free from the shackles, though I didn't know where I was. There was nothing, a blank slate. I looked around. I couldn't tell if this was a room, an illusion, or something indescribable entirely. In every direction, including up and down, there was a solid color. I could've sworn it was a dark gray before, but now it was white. A bright light was slowly engulfing me, dragging me to parts unknown. I lack the comprehension of my own consciousness; is this plane real, or is it not? This is... alright, I guess. But it doesn't give the reader a clear indication of death - the shackles of life aren't a strong enough metaphor, and this just seems like a dream or an illusion spell. The river smelled of blood. All I could do is float. It wasn't harmful, and it wasn't drowning me; in fact, it ran over my eyes as I came toward the light, a light which I could clearly see as my destination along the stream. There was a magic to this place since it defied every reality I've ever known, but this is where I was, and I had to figure out what the hell happened and how I got here. I was hoping to find someone for answers, but as the light consumed me, I realized that nobody else was here. I was alone, and I had no idea if I was captive or free. This seems to be getting somewhere - right...? Does anyone have pointers here? Or am I on the right track and just being crazy because of the "a writer is never satisfied" thing?
