DX promised he wouldn't put Alyssa up during the comp, and The House wants to split her and Christian. While I want him to gun for the Cookout, I want Xavier and Tiffany safe among them. I haven't seen tonight's episode yet. Will soon. I do enjoy this cast, as I don't dislike anyone. Faves are Xavier, Claire, Tiffany, DX, Britini. Survivor SA: I'm amazed at how the pairs were all split by original tribes, which screwed Zamba since I think Santoni and Anesu would've voted out a Renier/Tyson or Smash/Wardah pair. Nicole was a total moron to pick her Zamba friends for the reward - THAT sealed their fate since Vuna got a chance to talk, just the six, and thus solidified them under this extraordinary circumstance. Reiner's display was atrocious play. He got so defensive and insecure about people calling his bluff. WHY didn't he make a fake idol to show people? He could've whipped it out quickly and intimidated them all right before they voted, instead of going on and on and on. It was such blatant lying since the only reason to rant was to stall. In the end, it's fitting that Renier and Amy were eliminated together - their storyline was tied since the start, so yeah. Still rooting for Santoni and Chappies - the only two who add color of any kind. AUS: Through episode 5. Ep 4 "Whoever flipped is gone next" is the perfect thing to say when on the block in a tie... if you want your allies to turn on you. Shannon was already unsure - not sure why, since we weren't privy to that. But if Benny was going to rampage, it was best to kill him, so they did. Favorites are Shannon, Kez, Hayley, Gerald, and... George. George is more anti-hero than villain, but he's the kind of character I enjoy (how he is only 31 y/o?). I LOVE George just walking into camp sporting the idol - it's flashy and ballsy, sure, but he had nothing to lose. At best, he gets the vote off him for a round, and he can save the idol for next time (and MUST play it then); at worst, he does what he was going to anyway and play it (but alas, it was wasted). But since he's so focal, I barely know who half the Brains are, even after their second Tribal. They also get no rewards because - guess what? - all the rewards are physical. It's boring since most of the rewards have favored Brawn. Production didn't seem to think that through - whichever tribe a challenge favors tends to win it. HMMM. And they built an idol ATM just for Simon. WHY hide an idol outright in the reward? Too easy. This season is filled with sloppy play - so many people are barking out orders instead of asking the swing vote for their opinion. I also didn't like how the sequencing of the votes gave away that Mitch was a goner - AUS just does it that way every time, which ruins the impact of the vote. They can learn from SA. The H@CK3R// twist ruined BB20 and Paul ruined BB19 so we'll see what Grodner does to ruin this one. But yeah, the Kings winning another HOH and staying the course made for a boring week. It would've been a lot more interesting with almost any other HOH. Though beggars can't be choosers - pretty much every season of BB has a boring week or three. That's just how things go. If we get a new HOH tonight who's willing to take a big shot... things may be fun again. Or it may just be a boring week with a predictable outcome. That's just how the cookie crumbles. BlueCrystalTear 08/05/21 11:11:56 AM #39	I'm kinda "meh" on BB right now but that may change in the very near future, depending on who wins HOH next and what kind of shot they take. I'm now watching last night's episode. I am hoping that the Cookout gets figured out soon, else we're in for a boring season. I really don't like that alliance since it's racist, even if I do like some of its members. I was hoping Christian would use the Veto on Whitney and put up Azah or Big D just to expose that shit. Survivor SA had a good merge episode but then quickly reverted to boring in the following episode. They're invoking the French version's pairs twist - you win immunity as a pair, you vote for a pair, you play an idol as a pair... but you still vote solo. Sounds interesting! I fully anticipate Santoni to use that as an excuse to get rid of one of the Kiran/Tyson/Wardah trio while taking a Zamba out simultaneously. I'm through three episodes of Survivor AU. Was heavily encouraged - this is a BIG improvement in the editing department, though the huge cast still makes early episodes hard to follow. The narrative seems more coherent - so at least they've gotten better at hiding edit manipulation. George is the kind of villain I've been waiting a long time to see again. I really enjoy him. I'm not enjoying how predictable challenges are, based on design. Some are more physical for Brawns, others have puzzles for Brains. Given the Brawns' reward wins, I sense that the Brawns will be more nourished, and that may make it boring later. I'm happy that Kez and Shannon are safe, and that KILLER IDOL PLAY already! Though she didn't need it since Big D (no, not Derek F) sided with the girls, as did whoever the fuck Benny is. Also, I don't know why Gavin - would've preferred to see Emmett leave but it's w/e with them bros. I don't know how I have so much time to watch all this. Then Bravely Second happened, when the gameplay didn't feel new and the writing was even worse since Yew was tied for the most unlikable twerp I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing the story of. So like with Emil Castagenier, the other such twerp, I shelved his game and sold it, never to return. (Please note that there have been very few JRPG protagonists I've ever truly disliked, though there have been quite a few to which I've been apathetic.) Vanilla P5's final act is also markedly better than the several chapters leading up to it, but the first chapter is still the best one. I can concur with Suikoden 1, but there's no way Suikoden 2 is even in contention. The final act of S2 felt very, very rushed, and I think that's why this is a trope. The writers run out of fuel and/or just "want to get it over with" so they just crank it out and don't spend the same amount of care. That or there's just too much dungeon crawling that can get tiring. I really wish I could care about Australian Survivor - I enjoyed the first two seasons because they were edited so much better and that made it more fun to watch. Everything since then has had numerous problems: 1. Spliced-together confessionals from different points in the game. It's so transparent in part because of the audio changes but it's also incomprehensible and redundant, and that makes it seem so... phony. 2. The amount of women who were edited as MOR/UTR/INV - very few of them were CP because of the misogyny in the editing room is even worse than it is with the US show. 3. There is no overall narrative in a season - only individual episodes. And the transitions stop making sense after a while. 4. Most outcomes are predictable... all while they don't tell you what's really going on. Perhaps I am simply incompatible with Australian Survivor. It may just be the TV culture Down Under, but I don't know for sure. The primary girls' alliance, the Kingslayers, is Claire (founder), Tiffany, Britini, and Azah. Sarahbeth has an F3 with Claire and Tiffany. Frenchie loosely brought Hannah into that via French Kisses. The girls would dump Whitney or Alyssa - or even Hannah - as a cover for the rest of them. There was also some worry about a guys' alliance, but I don't believe the Butchers are actually a thing. You can't take your foot off the gas when the other team has their foot on the gas. That last minute was something else though, and that strip-steal was incredible. Was hoping he'd put up Brent and Whitney like Tiffany suggested, since those two rather quickly bussed Frenchie. Britini has been dysregulated for like a half-hour since she was blindsided - she was actually doing a pretty good job being one with the furniture so far and... welp. Frenchie can always win Veto, so here's hoping he does and Brent goes up and goes home.
