So I think that would be a big motivator if you're able to make it over there. Highwind07 posted... Another thing is that don't just collectively assume that everyone there or abroad is supportive of the government. People are just afraid to speak out against the CCP but the CCP is a collection of a-holes. To some extent this is true, but I'm pretty sure if China had elections they'd still stomp. People aren't encouraged to actively engage in politics, and the media is so tightly controlled and the propaganda is so ingrained in every facet of their lives that people believe it. It's kind of like how Putin has such legitimately high approval ratings in Russia. China has spent decades perfecting government control of the media. I think it's getting to the point that they barely need it anymore. --- |

The show thrives off of him alone. The storyline with his father is probably one of the better serious arcs of the show as well. The fact that the entire show is a flashback and the high degree of continuity within the show is likely a part of it as well, though I think most will say it outstayed its welcome. --- |

As far as I recall the only rule that's ever been stated by Sakurai is "from a video game", but I could be mistaken. On the subject of it being stretched I'm referring to Cloud (and the breaking of many fan rules but that's less relevant). The popular line used in fan conversations used to be that the character had to be on a Nintendo console, which Cloud was considered to be a breach of. Regardless I think we'll be seeing a Lego minifigure sooner rather than later. Shock value has become a key part of SSB advertising. --- |

The obviously focus grouped choices made in the second and third were other huge problems, though partly symptomatic of the first. The Hobbit actually hurts to watch because it's mostly from the same talent as LotR and the amount of effort and passion put into it is readily apparent. But it just doesnt add up to something meaningful, mostly due to reasons outside the hands of those who made it. On its own merits the films are just fine, but I can't watch them due to how much it feels like a giant misstep. I can't wait for the Silmarillion films where we get a Galadriel Gandalf fuck scene, and watch Legolas skateboard down Morgoth's back while in a love triangle with Beren and Luthien. --- |

Otherwise we'd get meta gaming Jedi using the force to blow up people's hearts mid combat. There is a lot wrong with The Last Jedi. Fuel and space bombers aren't the issue though. Snoke is more subjective. A lot of the basic elements of how the Galaxy is set up dont make a lot of sense within TLJ (and didn't make sense in TFA either). This isn't necessarily a problem but it's something that causes direct issues when you try and treat the series as a sequel to Star Wars. Almost nothing feels like it's logically connected. It might as well be a thousand years later with completely new characters (which subjectively I would have preferred and I think would have given Disney a lot more freedom within their own story). Of Luke, Leia and Han, only Luke feels like he had a meaningful character arc within the story and it's one that's completely at odds with his character in RotJ. --- |
