lmao, after seeing this topic, I went and checked the fight. 30-40 seconds into the fight, I was wondering why his opponent wasn't throwing any kick (he was tagged as a kickboxer). Then, I understood XD

What was the point of the fight !? Boxer vs Kickboxer, no kick allowed. Yay.

Yeah, this is what happens when you name a dinosaur in honor of an actual local spot on the map.

Everybody did that, but chinese paleontologists deserve to be mentioned. Below are notable examples.

No idea, for some reason I'm thinking we're going for the distance. But I may be terribly wrong. We'll see.

I was hoping for a good fight between Zingano and Anderson. Sucked that it ended that way. Kinda doing other stuff and just listening to the fights now until cyborg and nunes starts. That and obviously jones/Gustafsson are the only two other fights Im really interested in.

I'm looking forward to the Condit fight but only because I was a fan of him a few years ago. He's on a terrifying losing streak now, may be ending his career tonight if he loses I think.

Had a superb record, then everything went downhill after fighting GSP.

damn in those highlights that Latifi guy looked like a wrecking ball

Some call him a gatekeeper. But other guy in front had weird losses. So, weird bout overall. It's there because of the main event's division I guess.

Nice, happy to see I'm not the only one.

To above poster: Chad Mendes just got TKO'd pretty bad.

Now, going for LHW bout between Latifi and Anderson.

For me, nostalgia. When I played it, it was in a good moment of my life.

Does that bother you even more?

If user A posts on a video game board of this site that he likes strict controls, and user B calls him a Stalinist (because Stalin was known to be one of the worst control freak politician in history), I'm not sure the message will get modded (which is a big wtf, that guy and a few of his friends are responsible for the death of over 30 million people).

If user A says he went to the native village in RDR2 to slaughter all the villagers, and user B calls him a conquistador lightly (the ones who conquered what is now latin America), I'm not sure the message will get modded (the Europeans are responsible for the death of 50 to 100 million natives in Central and South America, about 1/6 of the world population, the following century of the Age of Discovery).

lmao, have you ever seen someone on this site call another user a fucking conquistador? You're talking about this like it's a regular occurrence, but you made up two scenarios using terms I've rarely ever seen on this site.

So? The point stands. Rules are like laws, they have to be consequent or else it's a pandora box. As a result, terms of service (are they "of use" nowadays? Haven't been on GFAQs in like, forever) have to make sense and apply to general morals and values, not stick on one thing.

But then, there are tons, and tons of other words that shouldn't be used either but that won't get flagged

Such as?

Communist. (Which actually wouldn't be so bad)

Naming them isn't a pleasure because as I said previously, I don't want some stupid debate on who are the worst ****ers in history, because that's just being disrespectul to their victims as if we could decide that "this" was worse than "that". Here some example, hoping we'll avoid that debate.

Years ago, if you typed "Hitler" in a message, you got warned before actually pressing the "Post" button that "comparing anyone to Hitler shows that you have absolutely no grasp of history".

Well, if there is this sensibility to these subjects, many more words have to be flagged.

Dangerous game to play as far as rules are concerned, and that's I always thought concerning the terms of services on this site.

Words concerning the bad guys of WW2 are banned. Ok, and those bad guys committed atrocities. But if you go there, then there are hundreds of other words that need to be banned as far as bad guys are concerned and the atrocities they committed. Not going to name them, because I don't want no one to start some disrespectful debate comparing bad guys and saying that some are worse than others, out of respect for all victims of crimes against humanity or nature. But I hope you get my point.

What are you talking about, Nazi is not a banned word. You're simply not allowed to use the term lightly and apply it to people or groups as an insult.

Yes, that's my point, because they were bad guys. But then, there are tons, and tons of other words that shouldn't be used either but that won't get flagged, because concentration is on this matter. Hence the reason why it's a pandora box to me to put the emphasis on one subject only.

Basically as Gamefaqs has been dying people have been migrating to CE because their old board of choice is dead.

That's kind of what I thought.

Back in the days, this board was the LUE board for those who didn't get to know it or to subscribe to it. Nowadays, it's like the GameFAQs social board by default I guess.

This. Honestly gamefaqs needs a basic default social board instead of the dozen or so random ones.

Has this been adressed to the ones in charge?

I feel like most of us have been here for 10+ years and come here out of habit and addiction. Most of us would probably benefit (self included) leaving this place behind but we dont. We just dont.

Yeah, that's my feeling. I'd be curious to know what is the average age of the board's users. My guess is we were numerous to spend time here over 10 years ago when message boards were the thing. When I was a teenager (from 12 to like 18), I'd pretty much log on multiple, multiple times a day. I'd be on MSN Messenger chatting with friends, listening to some music not downloaded on Napster/Kazaa/Limewire (wow, I remembered them without even thinking), and chill on GFAQs' boards for video game and social stuff/nostalgicrant

Then, after 18, it was over. I'm 31 now and since then, I must've logged on GFAQs once every 1-2 years, sometimes a bit more or a bit less. And as I said, the teenagers with whom I work generally don't even know what's a message board. Once, I was giving a course on digital citizenship and when I mentioned message boards and forums, the whole group (about 50 13 years olds) had a wtf stare.

10-15 years ago, this board wasn't so healthy. And now, I work with teenagers who generally don't even know what is a message board or a discussion forum because they're all social medias (IG, SC, a bit of FB), making me believe that these kind of sites are very close to vanishing. Yet, this board's very frequented.

I find this to be intriguing.
