This has been the going assumption ever since it was originally announced that you'd have a choice, but it's always nice to have things confirmed.

Also similar issues led to Syndicate focusing more on Jacob rather than being a 50/50 split, and apparently the original plan for Origins was that Bayek would be killed and you'd take over as Aya, but that was axed and only a few short segments where you play as Aya were left in.

https://www.businessinsider.com/gop-governors-secret-calls-complain-trump-coronavirus-response-nyt-2020-7

A group of Republican governors has had secret conference calls to share advice about dealing with coronavirus outbreaks sweeping through their states and vent about President Donald Trump's response to the crisis, The New York Times reported on Sunday.

The GOP governors have for months held the calls, "usually at night and without staff present," The Times reported, citing two party strategists familiar with the conversations.

The report described the calls as "a sort of safe space where the governors can ask their counterparts for advice, discuss best practices and, if the mood strikes them, vent about the administration and the president's erratic leadership."

In recent weeks, cracks have appeared among Republican governors in their support for Trump's handling of the coronavirus crisis as the rate of infections has climbed in historically Republican states in the South and the West.

Some GOP lawmakers including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, one of the president's biggest supporters have publicly broken with Trump to unequivocally back measures such as wearing masks to control the spread of the virus.

Trump has expressed support for wearing masks but has refused to wear one in public for months. In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, he said he would not order Americans to wear masks.

And Lindsey Graham, the influential Republican senator from South Carolina, was among those who expressed support for Dr. Anthony Fauci, a key member of the White House's coronavirus task force, after the White House sought to undermine him by circulating a list of what it said were incorrect statements he had told reporters.

The White House has since backed away from the attacks on Fauci.

I was mostly speaking to the comment about needing three roommates to afford a studio apartment, but that's a fair point. I just think a lot of times when people talk about the cost of renting they use the most extreme examples in the nicest areas as a baseline. And when people talk about affordable housing, they're not talking nation-wide, they're specifically talking about the nice areas where they are most comfortable.

With the dramatic increase in companies willing to support working from home, I would hope to see in the future a big push, government-sponsored or otherwise, to move out into areas of the country that are a lot cheaper. But I think even in that situation you will still have people arguing that they need to work from home from the center of a metropolitan area because they're not willing to give up their creature-comforts for affordability.

And then you get companies like Facebook saying they will lower your pay if you move to an area with a lower cost of living and not telling them if you do is a fireable offense.

I remember when I posted a news article here about a (youngish) guy from where I live that was crying because one of his 23(!!!) rental properties was a couple months behind in rent and apparently just that amount of money could potentially force him to start selling his properties off. Meanwhile the guy spends entire winters living in southeast Asia and people that know him or had experience with him said he's basically straight up a slumlord.

Yet most of the topic was CE defending him.

Apparently it's unthinkable that investing in property could potentially lose you money, unlike literally every other investment.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/coronavirus-trump-fox-interview-us-cases-death-toll-a9627016.html

Donald Trump continues to insist the coronavirus will disappear one day, despite the recent surge in cases in several states like California, Texas, Arizona and Florida, and has said his predictions will be vindicated when all is said and done.

"I'll be right eventually," the president said in an interview that airs on Sunday with Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday after the host played a series of clips that showed Mr Trump making pronouncements about the virus that have turned out not to be true.

"I will be right eventually. You know, I said, 'It's going to disappear.' I'll say it again. ... It's going to disappear, and I'll be right," Mr Trump said of Covid-19, which has killed more than 140,000 Americans over the least [sic] five months.

The country surpassed the grim milestone of 140,000 Covid-19 deaths on Saturday into Sunday, but Mr Trump has still insisted that the US has the lowest mortality rate in the world, which is not true.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the US ranked seventh in worst mortality rate due to the coronavirus. Countries like Russia and Brazil ranked lower in their own mortality rate, which Mr Wallace pointed out to the president.

"Can you please get me the mortality rate?" Mr Trump said to his staff in an attempt to prove himself correct about having the lowest mortality rate.

Mr Wallace pointed out that the White House document the president was using was based on the European Centres for Disease Control and Prevention figures. This chart showed the US had a lower mortality rate than Spain and Italy, but it still was higher than countries like Brazil and South Korea. Russia was not included in the chart.

So president's claim that the US had "one of the lowest mortality rates maybe the lowest mortality rates in the world" was not true.

Another claim Mr Trump has pushed in recent weeks was that the surge in coronavirus cases that states are seeing was because of an increase in testing. But when testing was brought up during the Fox News interview, Mr Wallace informed the president the surge was due to a spread of the novel virus.

"Testing is up 37 per cent," Mr Trump said.

"Cases are up 194 per cent. It isn't just that testing has gone up, it's that the virus has spread," the Fox News host said in response.

Although the president has continued to push claims of increased testing and low mortality rate as the reasons why the US was still managing the coronavirus pandemic, Americans remain unconvinced.

A recent poll commissioned by ABC News and The Washington Post showed Americans trusted challenger Joe Biden more to handle the pandemic than Mr Trump. The former vice president holds a commanding 20-point lead over the sitting president in coronavirus response, with 54 per cent of those polled trusting Mr Biden over just 34 per cent who trust Mr Trump.

The Lincoln Project, a Republican-led super PAC created as an anti-Trump group, also released a scathing ad against the president for the US hitting 140,000 coronavirus deaths.

"America now leads the world in COVID deaths," the ad begins. "More than 140,000 Americans are dead. Friends and colleagues. Sisters, brothers, mothers, and fathers 140,000 bodies."

The ad went on to show an image of Mr Trump's wall along the US-Mexico border.

"Side-by-side, they would span over 66 miles," the voiceover said about the number of people who've died. "They would fill more than 1,160 football fields."

"Trump is building his wall, just not the one he promised," the video added.

A New York Times report released this weekend also indicated that the Trump administration pivoted its coronavirus response as early as April in an effort to declare victory over the virus.

"Over a critical period beginning in mid-April, President Trump and his team convinced themselves that the outbreak was fading, that they had given state governments all the resources they needed to contain its remaining 'embers' and that it was time to ease up on the lockdown," the report stated.

Then it took White House officials until early June to realise they were wrong; the virus was not disappearing and case numbers were not declining.

Mr Trump mentioned his "embers" terminology about the coronavirus when speaking to Mr Wallace, claiming that was still the case across the majority of the US.

"We have embers and we do have flames. Florida became more flame-like, but it is going to be under control," the president said.

Florida has become the epicentre for the virus with the highest number of residents per capita testing positive for Covid-19. An additional 17 states are in the coronavirus "red zone" for their surging cases, according to a White House coronavirus task force document.

What the US has not seen in recent weeks or months, despite Mr Trump's claims, was any sign the coronavirus was disappearing.

I actually remember liking The Mummy Returns, and awful CGI Scorpion King at the end aside, it is a pretty okay movie.

But yeah the third one is...not great. Probably shouldn't have taken so long to make and release it...not to mention replacing Rachel Weisz with someone who neither looks or sounds anything like her was...bad.

I'm pretty sure even the first Scorpion King movie was better >_>

Yeah it sure looks flat to me

That's not what they're talking about. They're talking about the daily new case curve, not total cases.

Here is Brazil's:

https://i.imgur.com/ZD0ucNG.png

If you look at their 7-day moving average it has been fairly "flat" since the end of June, so for roughly 3 weeks now they've seen practically no daily growth in confirmed number of cases. This is what they mean by "plateaued" and why they're saying Brazil now has an opportunity to actually start reducing the daily number of confirmed cases.

In your diagram, this would show as the slope of the line being flat and expressible in a y=mx+b format. Were the growth still exponential you'd need to use y=ab^x (or similar) to express it. You will still see growth, no matter what, in the total number of confirmed cases.

By contrast, here is what the US' looks like

it's their AAA affiliate (whose season was already cancelled) I can't believe it'd be a hard sale. it's got to be a nicer facility than their one in Florida. Plus, it's not Florida.

But if you're Buffalo I don't think the benefits outweigh the risks. There is going to be very little positive economic impact, meanwhile you're going to be having hundreds of people continually coming and going, many from places where cases are exploding, with no requirement that they quarantine/isolate.

Like the Jays' schedule has them going down to Florida on three separate occasions, having the two Florida teams come up, and also routinely playing other teams that have been to Florida or have been in contact with Marlins/Rays players. There's no reason to want that.

Apparently the field in Buffalo isn't up to MLB standards anyways so there's a good chance that doesn't happen.

The players don't want to play in Dunedin (gee I wonder why).

Sounds like Manchester, NH is another option but it seems like the easiest option would be to just have the games played at the other team's park with the Jays as the home team. No fans anyways so it doesn't even matter.

https://apnews.com/72e93f0780cad703e4d6bd1d47ed2aef

The Blue Jays have been denied approval by the Canadian government to play in Toronto amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino announced in a statement Saturday the federal government had denied the request, confirming what an official familiar with the matter had told The Associated Press earlier. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak ahead of the announcement.

The team had been given clearance by city and provincial governments to play regular-season games at Rogers Centre and was awaiting approval from Canadas federal government.

Unlike preseason training, regular season games would require repeated cross-border travel of Blue Jays players and staff, as well as opponent teams into and out of Canada. Of particular concern, the Toronto Blue Jays would be required to play in locations where the risk of virus transmission remains high, Mendicino said.

Based on the best-available public health advice, we have concluded the cross-border travel required for MLB regular season play would not adequately protect Canadians health and safety. As a result, Canada will not be issuing a National Interest Exemption for the MLBs regular season at this time.

The Blue Jays were informed via a phone call. The teams alternate site for home games is its training facility in Dunedin, Florida, one of the states hardest-hit by the virus. Players have said they preferred to play in Toronto.

We have shared this news with the Blue Jays organization. We remain open to considering future restart plans for the postseason should the risk of virus transmission diminish. We wish the Blue Jays the best of luck as they start the regular season, Mendicino said.

MLB needed an exemption to a requirement that anyone entering Canada for nonessential reasons must self-isolate for 14 days. The U.S.-Canada border remains closed to nonessential travel until at least Aug. 21.

COVID-19 cases are surging in the U.S., while Canada has flattened the epidemic curve.

The NHL has received an exemption for its restart to the season, but that was a far simpler case because the games are restricted to two hubs Edmonton and Toronto.

The Blue Jays are scheduled to start the season July 24 at Tampa Bay. Their home opener was set for five days later against Washington.

The Blue Jays received an exemption for summer camp, during which the players agreed to isolate in the hotel attached to Rogers Centre and create a quarantine environment. Players are not allowed to leave the stadium or hotel and violators face fines of up to $750,000 Canadian ($551,000 U.S.) and up to six months in jail.

Goes to show you how fucking stupid MLB's plan is.
