If we're being honest it's literally just as likely that him deciding he wanted to come back causing the issues/divorce as it is that there were already issues, he announced he was retiring to try and work on it, nothing changed, and that's why he decided to come back.

The Federal Communications Commission is threatening to block calls from voice service providers that have yet to take meaningful action against illegal robocalls.

On Monday, the FCC announced that it was beginning the process to remove providers from the agencys Robocall Mitigation Database for failing to fully implement STIR/SHAKEN anti-robocall protocols into their networks. If the companies fail to meet these requirements over the next two weeks, compliant providers will be forced to block their calls.

This is a new era. If a provider doesnt meet its obligations under the law, it now faces expulsion from Americas phone networks. Fines alone arent enough, FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel said in a statement on Monday. Providers that dont follow our rules and make it easy to scam consumers will now face swift consequences.

The FCCs orders target seven carriers, including Akabis, Cloud4, Global UC, Horizon Technology Group, Morse Communications, Sharon Telephone Company, and SW Arkansas Telecommunications and Technology.

These providers have fallen woefully short and have now put at risk their continued participation in the U.S. communications system, Loyaan A. Egal, FCC acting chief of the enforcement standards, said in a Monday statement. While well review their responses, we will not accept superficial gestures given the gravity of what is at stake.

The FCCs Monday announcement marks one of the most significant actions the agency has taken to combat illegal robocalls since the STIR/SHAKEN requirements went into effect. In 2020, the FCC approved the rules forcing all voice service providers to verify the authenticity of incoming calls. By the FCCs June 2021 deadline, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, three major US carriers, had fully implemented the tech.

While the FCC has taken significant measures to combat illegal robocalls, its only starting to address the growing threat of spam texts, according to Axios. Last week, the agency approved a proposal to start working on a new rule to require carriers to block texts from numbers that have previously been used in illegal ways, like defrauding consumers. It could take months before the agency could draft an official rule, Axios reported.

Now that part, they cannot do. Nobody agrees to copyright assignment or even a formal licensing arrangement when they upload FAQs and guides. All content is owned by and can be rescinded by the author, not whoever owns the site, no matter how putrid the site becomes.

If Wikia tries to make a move like that they would be buried.

I thought when that one issue with the guy who had written a FAQ years ago who wanted it taken down started getting coverage in gaming media Allen straight-up said the site wasn't actually obligated to do so?

They still have CNET itself and probably some other things (that I can't think of) that they acquired when they bought CNET Media Group. This sale represents like 10%-11% of the original purchase price, so I am curious how much of that $500 million everything they just sold to Fandom was originally valued at. It's possible they are "losing" money on this sale technically.

I'm curious if this sale happened because Red Ventures either seriously miscalculated/overestimated how much they were going to be able to monetize the sites involved in this sale and are thus dumping them, or if everything's reached "peak" profitability and they're just trying to cash in on it.

Neither scenario are really good for the user experience on this site, but the first one seems like it would lead to more drastic changes by Fandom than the second one would.

100% we're gonna get inundated with godawful ads and shit though.

Nah it didn't make it over there until the 60s or 70s (or even later).

Apparently there was also a copy that New Zealand possessed that they were able to use in conjunction with the Argentinian copy where some parts of the Argentinian copy were too damaged.
