They don't taste like a self-defense item; both have a fruity and bright taste that elevates the flavors of meat and fruit. My older sister and I have some demanding pallets. lol Yeah I think that cultures that have had spice for centuries have perfected it as an art. For example, Indian, Cajun, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, some Scottish food. Spice enhances a lot of flavors, especially fat and protein. It has kind of become a trend now to do scoville torture.
