So, my girlfriends best friend complained about me not having a nice salaried job. She joked I was a failure in life for not being more "manly". My girlfriend got mad at her and now they're not talking. Now, she saying maybe her friend is right. Why don't I have more motivation to improve? I had no idea I was banned from that sub. The ban happened a year ago. I had posted help on a relation sub; got into an argument and was subsequently banned forever. I had no idea I was as I forgot all about said alt and topic. I went to the sub on my main and created a new topic; a day later "reddit has permanently suspended you". Now all new accounts are instant banned. Great.

While the second part is true, the first is not. Business people look at heavily computerized jobs that just involve menial service work as a waste of good potential, especially to those with degrees. To them it's like saying, I know you like the book, but you have to move on to harder material than the Cat in the Hat.

I get we need to pay people better, but I also get looking at how people look at adults in those jobs as a pure waste. Did we rack up trillions of student debt to produce a nation that still needs to ask if people want fries with that? Did we raise people that have no greater ambition to the point where it seems those jobs need living wages is so they can stay there for life? I mean, we aren't even saying we tried and failed in a cutthroat corporate world. People act like that's where they want to be.

You do realize most people do not have glamorous jobs? My friend makes money working at a factory just like his dad did. It's boring, mindless 9-5 work. But, in his Dads era it'd be considered a living. I made less working Loss Prevention. Maybe I guess we all can't be working 9-5 cushy office jobs.
