Coming from the best of the genre FFTactics with 5 characters per a battle, FE was a lot to me. Also, I hated Rescue, and could never get any Supports in the GBA games. Not being able to use Attack Stance effectively sounds like a you problem, honestly. It's incredibly useful at certain points in the game, but of course you need to be careful. Otherwise, there's Guard Stance. Completely removes the enemy's ability to use Attack Stance against you, and increases the frontliner's stats by quite a lot. Should basically always be used when the unit is supposed to take hits. Always being in Guard Stance also works... just like in Awakening. I should have said, marriage didn't live up to its potential; CQ characters can't marry BR characters. You basically have to marry Kaze to prevent his death. And even though characters can marry all the others from the same game; theres only like 2 viable choices each and someone else wants them. And then balance the support grinding* (not allowed in CQ) with friend seals. Awakening provided fair choices for everyone. BR characters can marry CQ characters, in Revelation. Plenty of cross-game marriages there. You don't have to marry Kaze at all, A rank is enough to save him. 2 viable choices per character is underselling it quite a bit, but yeah, of course there are optimal choices. Same with Awakening, does anyone want Virion at all? Were not interesting at all, it was just "+2 Stat, -1 other Stat when paired with Corrin" 1 useless point and fighting over the avatar, using a nerfed pair up. Skills like Azura's AoE healing and Elise's -3 damage taken by units standing next to her were incredibly useful. Even if they're not "interesting," you can't deny that they make characters more unique. Both, grandmaster had cooler skills and limiting the classes was done poorly. Nohrian Noble and Hoshidan Noble both had excellent skills. Perhaps not quite as good as Rally Spectrum, but Draconic Hex or Nohrian Trust for example should not be underestimated. Not letting you go any class from the very start, and instead having you work for your class change was a good choice IMO. Fates maps were too narrow for Attack Stance to be any fun, the enemies just crowded the hallways and made you wait on all thier double attacks while you only got 5/6 turns in Defense Stance to negate thier attacks and have room to move. Again, fuck dragon veins. That's why you use both stances. Guard Stance to block the hallways, and Attack Stance to attack from behind those units, to keep them out of attack range. Dragon Veins definitely had more potential, but they were cool on some maps. Fuga's map, for example. Use the DVs to either move yourself forward, escape, or bring the enemies to you. It was more the fact that they replaced it with debuffs, you had to earn Armsthrift, grind to make it work 100% and not all characters could. Also, SoV had weapon skills and I had the idea they should work with durability instead of HP. Was it really fun gameplay for you to go back to the shop after every map and buy the exact same weapons time and time again? --- |

I found it to be nothing but a major chore in Awakening, where you just grind for infinite money to rebuy your weapons when they break, unlike the older games. People just gave Armsthrift to everyone that could use it anyway. Personal Skills ...What? How does giving each unit a unique, small but often very useful skill make the game worse? the maps were far worse Birthright's were basically the same as in Awakening, Conquest's had actual level design unlike the very open maps of BR and Awakening. Revelation was pretty bad, yeah. Sure, it's all subjective, but some of these arguments I just don't get. --- |

For those who don't know you don't (really) level up your characters, you level up your weapon. If your weapon breaks... that's it. You could've spent the whole game leveling it, and all it takes is one moment of not paying attention, and... poof. --- |

I feel like the PS4 reboot is... I dunno. It just feels soulless, and the story is awful compared to the original. --- |
