And it's over! Bit of an awkward ending this time around during New Year's Day, but what can you do.

This time around we got 92 gifts, which is the lowest result ever... but a lot of longtime participants had personal stuff going on, that's why there are two of these per year. And as always, it's the thought and generosity that matters, not the end result. As long as a single gift comes out of this topic, I'm happy.

As always, thank you a lot to the gifters and the people keeping the doc uptodate, without you this wouldn't work.

Now, without further ado, my last result screen. Each giftbox listed below is worth $10, redeemable as Steam gift / Paypal transfer / Amazon gift card / whichever. Just PM me what you want and I'll send it to you; though if you need the gift urgently (to buy something before the Steam sale ends, for example), do state so. You can also keep the gift stored for future use, even if I'm stopping hosting I'll still honor any and all past gifts.

First, the giftester of persons, with 17 gifts... @watertank ! You get 2 giftboxes!

Second place, with 11 gifts... @BMXJouster gets 1 giftbox!

Now for the 10 random giftboxes. I'll be using random.org to pull the results. The resulting number won't necessarily match the line in the Google Doc as I've taken out the Humble Bundle codes.

The lucky winners are:

Congratulations to all the lucky winners!

Now it's time for the closing thoughts. I'm leaving after 7 years of organizing the Steam Gift Contest. During this time I've personally given through gifts and prizes north of $3000, and people have gifted in the topics over 10 times that amount.

I'm really satisfied, ya know.

When I first started this I thought it would never work, CE being CE. You proved me wrong. Thanks for all these wonderful years to everyone.

I hope I'll see you around during Summer for Contest XVI, as a participant, if someone wants to take the mantle. I hope this will continue for years to come.

Farewell.

Speaking of which, I'll stop the contest not at 12PM EST on the 31st, but some 15 hours later. The reason being I'll be at a NYE party at that time.

how is Hades? Strongly considering picking it up via the EGS for $9. >_>

Mechanically excellent, pretty tough. Plotwise really solid for a roguelite.

Main drawback is that it only has 4 biomes, so it may become repetitive faster than, say, Dead Cells.

Definitely recommended.

Ya, I saw you say that before. Anyone in particular you plan on handing the mantle down to or are we gonna have a roshambo battle for the honor?

Not really, it's already a collaborative effort. I personally haven't kept the Google Doc properly updated in over 5 years. I also rarely create a topic other than the first and the last.

Whoever wants to create the topic can go at it, honestly.

P.S. I'm down to chip in to help organize next year (provided I get a new job within the next couple of months.)

You know, that's something I've thought about since a few years ago: the reason why I put prizes up front to begin with is because I thought CE wouldn't want to gift stuff to eachother without some sort of monetary incentive. I was clearly wrong, based on the generosity of y'all during these years.

Sooooo... even if you don't offer a prize, I think that as long as there is a topic around people will gift games to others.

Speaking of Epic, reminder for those that aren't away, they are doing a "12 days of free games" to wrap the year, so make sure to check back each day to grab your freebie. Today's game being "into the breach" (with tomorrow's game looking to be towerfall)

Into the Breach is a really good roguelite strategy game. Fully recommended.

Christmas is around the corner and so is the Steam Gift Contest! Get your gifting face on.

-----

RULES

For the newbies, rules are simple:

- Do you want to get free games? Post your Steam wishlist and someone will gift you stuff!
- Feeling generous? Gift something to someone and you'll get a chance to win prizes!

That's the basics. Here's a couple additional things to keep in mind (since in every contest people ask the same questions):

- When gifting, please put somewhere in the gift message your GFAQs username. It helps keeping things straight.
- When you receive a gift, please post in the topic saying what you received and from whom.
- While this is called "Steam" gift topic, it isn't limited to it. Basically as long as the gift is a game, it counts.
- Gifters get one entry per gifted game. At the end of the contest I'll randomly pick a few winners entry from the pool, so the more you gift the more you can win!
- For giveaways of codes gotten from a bundle, you get one entry per 5 games gifted.
- You don't get entries from games you got for free.
- Gifts done elsewhere in GameFAQs count, as long as they have been gifted after the creation of this topic.
- To avoid getting the topic saturated, you can only post a link to your wishlist thrice per topic. You are free to put it in your sig for normal posts, though.
- Also to limit topic saturation, if you have a list of bundle codes for people to grab please limit posting them to thrice per topic.
- Before posting in the next topic, please wait until this one hits 500.

PRIZES

As in recent contests there will be 10 giftboxes. Each one of these is worth $10, and each will be given to a gifter from the gift list at random. Additionally, 2 gift boxes will be given to the person who'll gift the most stuff and 1 to the second person.

This puts the total prize of the contest at $130.

Additionally, if you have a giftbox remaining from a past contest (listed in the Winners tab) you can claim it at any point.

Prizes can be redeemed for either games, Paypal/Amazon/whatever credit, or kept in the abovementioned tab for when you see something you fancy.

DEADLINE

Deadline for entering the contest is two days before the end of the Steam sales. That will give me enough time to give prizes for cheap, so you guys will get more games.

ARCHIVE

All entries will be kept in a Google Doc: https://bit.ly/2YOxiWM

All people who want to help keeping this doc up-to-date are welcome, just PM me your Google account so that I can add you. By default, everyone who helped in the past have been added.

-----

Before we begin, an announcement: I will be retiring from hosting the Steam Gift Contests after this one. I have been coming less and less often to GameFAQs lately, so this feels like a good place to stop. Plus, since I use FF quotes for contest titles I wouldn't even know what to use for the next one.

I won't be definitely leaving though, and if someone (or someones) picks up the torch for next Summer I will be around, participating rather than organizing.

It has been an amazing 7 years of generosity, let's end it with a bang.

In second place, with 12+1 (Humble keys x5)... @BMXJouster ! You get 1 giftbox!

The lucky winners are...

14- @LionLuBu
50- @BlameAnesthesia
5- @DarkFists
15- @AuthenticZac
69- @Chad-Henne
60- @SH_expert44
57- @AceWingsta
2- @DarkFists (2 total)
40- @LionLuBu (2 total)
105 @BMXJouster (2 total)

Congrats to all the winners! As a reminder, each giftbox = $10. You can get your prize via many ways:

-Steam game or credit
-Amazon
-Paypal
-Other kind of game gift
-Stored in the document for future use (just PM me when the time is right)

Please PM me with your choice (quickly if you want a Steam game on sale), I will fullfill it in 48h hopefully.

Depends on the polo itself, and your constitution. I feel that if you are on the larger/beefier side of the spectrum they look better than if you are skinny.

Then it also depends on the color. A solid black/ deep blue polo makes me look dashing, a brighter colored one doesn't look right.

Eh, it doesn't really matter if the contests become less popular, what's important is that people use their generosity to their best of their abilities. I don't plan on stopping these any time soon even if we never go back to thy olde glorious days.

And damn just going through some old docs and I forgot how active these used to be (though the site was a lot more active those years). Like we haven't even broke 100 yet which looks like this will be the lowest amount of gifts undertaking topic # 10 which was at 199. Though we still haven't come close to overtaking topic #4 with 609 the closest was topic #6 with 365 gifts.

Here's all the links to old topics if anyone is interested (first 2 didn't have public Google Docs)

For the two first contests I may still have them in my Drive, I'll check when I get home.

EDIT: Wow, I had forgotten how the first contests had bonus gifts by completing objectives. I think I spent north of $300 in gifts in contest I.
