no but neither do unknown musicians

Do you expect this to stay lucrative long term? I think NFTs and blockchain tech in general is cool and has a lot of potential. I just don't see it's current usage like you described sticking around. I mean, NFTs are basically just a very secure digital ledger. Great for proof of ownership wrt like copyright enforcement, but it seems like a lot of folks buy digital art NFTs under the assumption that they're getting a unique product that nobody else can have (a la traditional art), which the internet disproved like 20 years ago.

Art prints and trading cards are kinda the same. Can be easily duplicated but ownership has value.

Except NFTs offer absolutely nothing of value that existing technologies dont already accomplish. Commissioning artwork online was a thing long before NFTs existed, and plenty of online artists have successful Patreon feeds.

At their core, NFTs are a late-stage capitalist grift designed to trick idiot tech-bros out of their money.
Commissions dont get artists into the mainstream. Is any fine artist in this current generation mainstream? Only artists everyone know are the likes of Picasso, Andy Warhol and Da Vinci from the old days.

Famous visual artists never become popular like Taylor Swift or Drake in the music sector. The only time they make it in the mainstream is when they do silly crap like tape a banana to a wall or name a blank canvas take the money and run.

Seriously tho, only one I can think of in current year is Beeple. Who is an NFT artist sooo

Why is it that the NFT craze hasnt lead me learning about any artists while instead subjecting my eyeballs to dozens of ugly apes and lions?
its a very new medium in its infancy. It hasnt evolved truly, just like music and movies, fads exist and time for them is finite. Not to mention that most fads suck. Just like Apes. IMO i kinda hate the generative pfps too cause they are effortless and sadly not worth what they are going for.

Remember when video games first came out and they were only children's toys? What about VR being almost exclusively known as guitar hero/DDR-esque rhythm games?

Were there not already platforms like dA for that?
DeviantART was a good attempt, but artists couldnt make money from it unless they sold uncensored porn on Patreon. Besides, Patreon only works for truly successful artists. NFTs are like fine art being sold at a gallery. Except the sky is the limit in terms of medium and format. Because they are just JPEGs, without an ownership signature it was merely impossible to monetise work like musicians and video producers could. The Blockchain fixes this conundrum

Web3 and the Blockchain is a more open and enjoyable internet and the true first step to the metaverse. I believe NFTs are a great way for artists to get recognition for their work and are more than just ape profile pics. It allows us artists to truly become a subsidary of content creators like YouTubers are currently.

I am a verified WAX NFT artist and collector who just released my first wave of assets this week. I feel NFTs are absolutely the future of digital collectables.

Today Funko released digital Pop! of Bob Ross. This year my dad and I binged so many episodes of The Joy of Painting after he had surgery and was off work. I got in an hour late and 7000 Premium Packs were already sold and I got one of the last 900.

Just a story I wanted to tell. Merry Christmas

Between Legends of Runeterra, Wild Rift and soon Valorant, Riot is the only developer in the Free 2 play mobile sector that is at least decently moral. Of course they are PC first, but so are Blizzard

Playing WR today only settled in my mind moreso that they care about actually good business practices and not nickel n diming everyone dry with heavy pay2win elements, ads and predatory measures.

btw I am as libertarian as it can get, I live in a country where ISP throttling has been a thing for decades and nothing happened.

I didnt admit I was wrong. Im not AGAINST Net Neutrality either. In fact its a great thing to keep ISPs in check.

but when throttling is a thing in most other countries and hasnt caused massive issues and literal 1984 like people were shouting in 2017, Americans shouldnt shove this in other peoples faces. Its a US problem, not a global problem. And even then, throttling didnt kill the internet in many countries where throttling exists.

Literally nothing Americans were fighting against happened. I closed my Reddit account then and returned a couple years later. I was sick of hearing about it, especially as a non-American. At least with Black Lives Matter it fought for a global cause. My city had 10s of thousands cuddled up in the CBD to support the cause. And we are in the opposite of the world!

have YOU seen ISPs lock content and dictate what you do on the internet? That was all it was about, and none of it happened. And will not happen. Im sure Biden will bring NN back in fact.

Lets remember, Net Neutrality laws were only instated in the 2010s under Obama administration. It wasnt an old thing.

Notice how nothing changed after Net Neutrality was repealed? Notice how all that fearmongering and shutting down the internet was all for nothing? Notice how Americans shoved NN down us overseas folks throats cause everyone will follow suit?

I get nam flashbacks about those days in 2017 where Reddit was full of YOU HAVE TO BE PANICKING ABOUT NET NEUTRALITY OTHERWISE YOU ARE IGNORANT or something along those lines. Most subs all time upvoted threads are about Net Neutrality and it shows.

the whole Repealing Net Neutrality will kill the internet was a load of bull. And I called it from the beginning.
