It's a game where you need to find the specific strategy that completely trivializes a specific mission. Being entirely honest, that describes most "hard" games. The "Git Gud" game of "Git Gud" games, the one that started that phrase, Dark Souls itself, is a perfect example. It's diamond difficulty. Incredibly hard, but easy to break once understood. There's basically like 2 winning strategies to Batomys, and neither allows for more than 9 turns if the Batomys isn't wasting turns on shooting at Welkin. 9 Turns is the A rank. 10 for a B 11 for a C 12 for a D and any more is probably a Fail. And a Royal Lance is worth a LOT more than a single Engineer who can literally be replaced by any other Engineer [note: this is true of all non-main character units of all classes with the sole exception of Lancer] without any change to effective tactics. There's no actual death penalty in VC for the player unless they manage to lose all of a unit type, or too many to perform a strategy, or outright like that character. There is however a BENEFIT to losing SOMEONE instead of playing like it's Fire Emblem. And the Difference between getting Splintered Horn and NOT getting Splintered Horn is a Royal Lance. So it becomes a cost question- what's worth more, getting a very good lance into Largo's hands or an Engineer or Shock that doesn't matter in the long run. --- Waifus are not gear adrift! Hooyarr! |

| Airship_Canon 03/10/17 7:37:32 PM #6 | Batomys is a wall. You've got to either git gud or you will fail. It's 99% knowing the basic strategy and 1% luck. You can get dicked by the horrible accuracy of lances. The rest of the strategy is so specific I've got it memorized. You can't really win by other methods [outside of the "Tank Mortar" Strategy. [Where you use AT Lances [missing 1 Upgrade] to damage all 3 Radiators then finish all 3 at once with a well placed shot from the Edelweiss's mortar. Then blow the boss on Turn 4]] Turn 1- Player Phase: Kill the Lancer on the top with Alicia then have her run over behind where the sniper is, put a Shock [any shock, I use Vyse, and have Rosie just hang out in the pit] in Trench 3 near the top after killing the Sniper- not in immediate LOS of the pack, but near there. Kill the front and front-left .50 cal machineguns on the Batomys. Turn 1- Enemy Phase: laugh at the troops as they run to the shock and get turned into swiss cheese. The Batomys harmlessly runs over all your lancers and doesn't do much. Turn 2- keep killing .50 cals, have Shock/Vyse escape off the map. Call in a Sniper. Alicia runs along the left hill and hides. Turn 2 Enemy Phase - Batomys kills your first camp. Does nothing. Turn 3- All .50 cals should be dead. Knock over all Ruin Walls and move the Edelweiss out of the firing angle for the Batomys's 120mm [don't put in the path of the 12" guns though] to the right. Move Lancers to what looks like a box in the lower part of the map. It's along the wall. Turn 3 Enemy Phase- Batomys fires 12" main gun, blows up wall. Turn 4- Kill the Port [Left, relative to the Batomys's facing] side radiator. [WARNING: Port and Rear side Radiators MUST die first and second. Starboard Side is safe when b**** arrives. Turn 5- all non-sniper/alicia/lone Engineer hero personnel in the box. Cover the Box with the Edelweiss. Turn 5- Enemy Phase. Batomys moves. Turn 6- CHARGE YOUR CP. Turn 6 EP- Batomys Fires Turn 7- Blow Rear Radiator. b**** appears. Use Sniper to kill the Lancer then escapes. Move the Edelweiss into position to block the slope into the pit. Gun must be able to sweep the pit, and entire path must be blocked. Turn 7EP- Gatling Laser PTSD. Edelweiss's .50cal shred dudes. Turn 8 - Hold it, make absolutely sure the b**** isn't getting into the pit, but be careful, to not let the Edelweiss be exposed to the 120mm. Turn 8 EP- Batomys fires. b**** moves up. Be afraid. Very afraid. Turn 9 Alicia burst out of hiding, Grenades Starboard Radiator. Lancers unleash hell on the Batomys. KILL THAT a******. BlueCrystalTear posted...
Literally the second easiest map in the entire game. Pick a Shock, any Shock, move them from center spawn to the left right by the corner of a building. Demo Boost the shock. Shoot radiator on Turn 2. A rank. I'm currently on the Fouzen mission part 1, but the Steam version apparently hates my evil plan for Oswald and keeps crashing. But once I get the crashing issue sorted out, I'm going to burn him to death via Vyse with a Flamethrower. --- Waifus are not gear adrift! Hooyarr! |
