Well it's a good commercial. It actually tells you what the game's about unlike most modern ones. I was just wondering whether there was a reference or not.

Also as a reminder, this game has a bunch of bonus modes, including the original vehicular soccer game.

Oh, I just watched the actual video. Was this supposed to be like remake of the game's original commercial from 2000, or did they literally make a fresh 2000-styled commercial from scratch just for this video?

This is one of the few N64 cartridges that I still have left (seriously, it feels like my N64 collection has shrunken over the past 20 years and I'm not sure why).

Yeah, it's a cool game and not many people have played it. Maybe because it (visually) looks like some generic branded racing game and doesn't immediately stand out as part of the "Nintendo series". But the core mechanic of a turbo button that you have to limit to avoid overheating was distinctly recreated in this game so you can feel how it actually is a sequel to the NES game. The tracks are a mix of indoor dirtbike tracks and outdoor wildnerness tracks and the outside ones are much more interesting by design (although I'd probably appreciate the indoor tracks more as an adult than I did as a kid).

There's also a full sized track editor in the game which has surprising depth. That's another thing that was in NES Excitebike which they managed to adapt to 3D.

This is why it could become a good contest if the bracket size was large enough. Because then there would be a proportionally lower amount of "the usuals" than most contests, leaving more room for everything else (including the obscure spinoff stuff). On a smaller bracket then Pokemon would be extremely boring though.

Was there ever a playlist of every #1 ranked song from each album? I think I asked this before, but I can't remember if the answer was "that's a good idea, we should do that" or "that's a waste of time, no one will bother with that".

This is a bit of an odd final group, but then again, it's not like the pool was very good to begin with.

This is the game that I was referring to earlier. So it's most likely downhill for the next 86 games.

I doubt you'd be able to tell the difference between someone's pet auto include and the actual niche songs that sneak in and die round 1.

Also I agree with this; I don't think that many people would spend their auto on intentionally bad/disliked stuff (not to say that no one would do that). For the most part people would use it on (usually obscure) stuff that they wanted to show off/spread exposure but they knew wouldn't gain enough supports in the nom phase. In that sense it would help the aspect of discoverability in the contest, which many people have stated is their primary goal in VGMC. The concern of auto-includes taking up a large portion of the bracket is something that would need to be considered when deciding how to implement it.

Maybe the idea of having to spend X of your available supports to use an auto? (Obviously each user would get a max of 1 auto regardless) Basically there would have to be some reason for people to choose not to use an auto, which would cut down on the total number of autos in the bracket.

Loaded question. Implying that all games can be "beaten" or that a game must be able to be beaten in order to be good.

If it turns out that the truth is "he decided to step away due to his age and/or trouble with his voice", then I feel like that's exactly what they'll say in the video and we will know the real truth. I just hope that you (or other internet people) won't stick to some conspiracy theory where you claim that whatever they say in the video isn't true.

It's been ongoing like this for probably 3 days now.

It's 100% Fandom's fault because they're the current owners and are responsible for keeping the site functionally running.

I assumed that this was just due to him getting old and maybe not being able to do the voice anymore. He obviously wouldn't have quit for no good reason, and I don't think that Nintendo would have reason to terminate him when he's been such a staple for them (plus how little he actually needs to do for each new game considering how many clips get recycled). So it seems likely that this is happening out of necessity because he's no longer able to perform the role for whatever reason.

The new job title is basically what they did for Miyamoto too, it's hardly anything but their way of keeping him at the company out of tradition/respect, while he hardly has to do anything and still gets paid.

Well isn't that the whole point? If something was capable of getting in through multiple supports then they'd just nominate it normally.
