idk why cersei has faith that euron will follow her blindly, if they even did collude beforehand. she could have been bluffing about euron bringing the army across the sea and just said that to intimidate jaime

so is there any significance of Jon's real name being aegon

why name your son after a psychopath?

Are you confusing Aegon with Aerys? Aegon was the conquerer who started the Targaryen dynasty.

ah yea that was his name, my mistake

so Jon being named Aegon is just a hint of him continuing the Targaryen dynasty after all of the other Aegons? or does it not even matter

He went out like a chump. Very disappointing.

Yeah, it was a bit jarring seeing him literally on his knees begging for his life.

It doesn't make sense for a (supposed) master schemer like Littlefinger to ever end up in that situation (trapped in a room where there is no way he gets out alive)

That's the point. He's out of his element, he's been outmatched, his life hangs in the balance, and he doesn't properly know how to react to that.

this

it was the first time he'd been outsmarted. his only strength was his cunning. he was never brave, he was always a coward, so it made sense to me that he'd have a total meltdown when things didn't go his way and was completely stripped of power

They shoved down fanservice for people like you, not that D&D had any talent to write anything of quality.

In any case, this is EASILY the worst season this show has ever seen. I will take Arya fucking around in Bravos, then this.

sounds like book worship to me

yea some things were rushed but the writing, for the most part, was still excellent. and it's certainly not worse than season 5

Haven't touched a single GoT book. Technically I haven't read through a book in years, but that's besides the point.

It's just clear as day the difference in quality between the latest season and the previous seasons. Can't speak for you, but the writing this season almost gave me brain aneurysm, so I had to forcefully stop caring about the writing.

These two topics provides a decent enough analysis of the writing of this season.

https://www.reddit.com/r/gameofthrones/comments/6u13gy/everything_i_know_i_am_going_to_get_a_lot_of_hate/
https://www.reddit.com/r/gameofthrones/comments/6v0asy/everything_i_know_i_might_get_more_hate_for_this/

of those complaints the only ones that were distracting to me was the plot armor and time abuse, and that was mainly in the penultimate episode. beautiful episode visually but full of conveniences and unkillable main characters

and i should clarify, by the writing i was referring mainly to the dialogue. the back and forths between characters are still smart and engaging (except Jon and Dany who were basically ogling high schoolers this season, but now that Jon swore alliegence to her I imagine their interactions will get better)

so yeah, it has its faults no doubt but i was thoroughly satisfied with the season

his endgame was made clear since season 1. marry himself into power and sit on the iron throne

he's been scheming and manipulating without consequence for the entire show. what he didn't count on was bran/three eyed raven and Sansa wisening up to his bs

just saw the original original thing (1951) and it's crazy how much scarier carpenter's version is because of the whole assimilation aspect and not knowing who was human

seriously if they don't make another thing movie within the next few years I'm going to have to write a screenplay myself
