There should be a live counter on the top of CE showing how many accounts still have access, and a second counter showing how many have accessed it in the past week.

Yea. I don't get it either. I think Reddit solution is better and why they are growing while GameFAQs is dying. If you want to talk about politics go to r/politics. If you want to do hornyposting go to those subs that can't be mentioned here since GameFAQs is for 13 year olds and it against rules to link to those porn subs. They didn't ban all the politics or horynposting/porn boards. They still have several.

That assumes they have access to this board. A lot of people might either not know it exists or just didn't visit in last year and are locked out. And that is just the past. Anyone new signing up to this site can't join.

Politics was closed like a year ago. Because I started coming to CE last year in the summer and people were complaining about all the people from 261 closing that flooded into CE. So it was already closed down as of last summer.

That makes it worse if it was a year and they didn't think to update those threads. Well it is easier now. They can just delete the threads since politics discussion is banned every where except CE. And unlike that old thread they can't link to CE it a private board.

This site is barely functional. Its not like they have the staff to immediately implement that type of update across all boards.

It could also be that this sticky is in a lot of threads so a lot of work to remove. I don't really remember when politics board got banned I was thinking maybe 4 months ago. But it possible it way longer than that and those stickies didn't get updated to reflect that board getting removed.

I saw it while checking out some threads on the console/game boards. That is basically the format all of them were created on 9/9/2020. The Politics board got banned a couple months ago at this point so it is weird they are still up. Now site banned politics discussion outside of CE and those stickies are still up.

The answer is probably an offshoot clone forum, like the LUE people made when their board got privated.

CE didn't like the Politics board users flooding in, they brought a sense of indignance with them and it became harder to discuss certain topics and perspectives without getting shouted down, the board culture changed quite a bit and within less than a year we ended up quarantined too.

Us CEpeople probably have a lot of traits other communities wouldn't like as well.

Reminds me of that MGS speech.

"Becoming more active" means new users coming in. If enough new users come in, they start to outnumber and overwhelm the people already there (most of whom have been there for more than a decade). Over time, the board culture would start to shift. Over a long enough time, and with enough CE refugees flooding in, PotD essentially stops being PotD and just becomes CE-Lite (or New-CE).

Most PotDers wouldn't see that as a good thing.

It's a problem CE refugees (refuCEes?) are going to create no matter where they choose to go, unless they just pick a completely empty dead board as a replacement CE. Flooding into boards with preexisting members/activity/history/culture is just going to kill those boards instead.

So where should those users go? You make it sound like the answer is to another site. If they aren't welcomed at those boards according to your anecdote.

Maybe I should have elaborated more. I meant those two boards becoming more active. By becoming the new CE I meant being the most active social boards on site to replace the one that went private. Like when LUE went private another public board had to be one that got the traffic of those locked out of LUE.

Anyone else disappointed this took until 2024 for the change to take place with the hornyposting if it is to protect users and be inclusive. They could have done this 10 or 20 years ago when there might have been a bigger userbase. There was also that statement on transphobia where was that last year during the Hogwarts Legacy release. I saw a couple users close their account over the types of topics/posts getting made.

Board is private and topics still purge but apparently that site still is able to save and archive the threads on here.

It is probably the type of topics Vegy and NeonOctopus made. Using terms like Mommy Milkers, sloppers, Titty Miester.

The only thing I am not sure on is the extent of it taking place on the game boards since I haven't been on those in like 10 years. Last time I was on game board was the Pokemon one and people were making which Pokemon would you fuck topics. Gardevoir was the constant #1.

Most forums are dying. Reddit kinda took over and due to the variety kinda made other forums obsolete. I used to post on a Chess forum and that died. r/Chess is where the largest discussion of Chess is on internet now. So it is join Reddit or post on empty/limited traffic forums.

I went to Random Insanity and that board has a topic that got started in 2019. I knew they had less users/posts than here. Just didn't realize the drop off was that they'd have a thread from 5 years ago still active.

I'm not sure if people have admit this yet but people are probably going to change posting habits to not risk getting kicked off CE. Like if a topic is possibly controversial just not post it at all.

Yea. I had hope that Fandom could turn it around and bring back the growth of new users. But making this board private pretty much guarantees the number of people can only go down. Growth is dead. You have to hope something like Random Insanity or POTD becomes the new CE but they have even less users than CE. So you would be going to a less active board.
