And in response to others loving it, even I agree the fights looked great and so on. I just couldnt get into that tournament arc. It could've been edited down to half the length imo and then maybe this season wouldn't have ended in the middle of an arc.

The visual novel for Atri is on sale on Steam and it's apparently only about ten hours long. I think I'm going to play through it ahead of the anime adaptation next season.

Oh, that's good at least. I waited until the end of the credits hoping for an announcement but I didn't see one. No S2 on MAL yet either. Glad it'll continue after the last episodes non-ending, but it was still a lame way to end a season imo

Wind Breaker completed. It had good animation and great fight scenes. I liked most of the characters, especially the main dude Sakura. The only things holding this show back were what it chose to focus on and the pacing. More than half the season was dedicated to a tournament arc that I couldn't bring myself to care about at all. Episode after episode was wasted just going through the motions there, ugh. The arc the season ended on looked way more interesting, so of course they unceremoniously cut it off with no conclusion. Come back for S2 someday maybe. I wanted to like this anime more than I did. I feel like it had so much potential, and it wasted it.

Backrooms is awesome, I'm glad it won the round.

Would FoG every round include the final? If so, lefty would break his custom of not saving first and it wouldn't matter who the opponent was.

The real question is if lefty would just have Cecil win every contest forever or if he'd cycle through other IV characters and risk letting Cecil get booted.

I finally played VII since last contest, and both CC and Remake! I'll play XVI and Rebirth immediately after they reach Steam. I might play XII Zodiac Age before next contest but only if the other two I'm waiting for look like they'll be awhile.

Ya Boy Kongming is indeed a great anime. I'm a big Dynasty Warriors fan so it was fun seeing the Zhuge Liang antics. It was definitely a bit weaker towards the end, but it never became bad.

I hope it gets another season someday. It was pretty popular so it feels like a no-brainer, but I suppose far more successful anime than this have been left hanging before.

Also was the first one-cour series I watched in a while and since I don't have Frieren yet, next up is probably knocking off a couple of other series I picked up after Roba's ranking topic - Sunday Without God and Shiki.

Yay, I hope you enjoy them. SWG isn't a perfect anime by any means but it really appealed to me. Shiki is the more popular one between the two.

I've seen Wonder Egg mentioned a lot lately in relation to Jellyfish. I was taking a break from anime in 2021 so I know literally nothing about it. I should watch it and see how the bad ending hits me!

7.58 on MAL isn't too shabby.

For me, the ending of Jellyfish was the kind of bad that retroactively ruined a lot of the earlier good parts.

Maybe you're right though and it is just a case of feeling worse because of high expectations. Jellyfish fell 300+ spots in my ranking (out of 440), from potential top 20 to mid-300s. Train was worse than Jelly, but Train was always worse than Jelly so it doesn't bug me as much.

It got better, but I'm not sure it could've gotten worse. Maybe people who are really into racing and are more forgiving than me would call it great. I found even the best episodes to be more frustrating than anything.

Speaking of MAL scores. After bottoming out in the 4.xx range, Highspeed Etoile has climbed to 6.09 after concluding last week. It kind of makes me happy that it has surpassed Rinkai, even if I dropped both

Shows usually get a bump when they finish, but it looks like Rinkai is done too and it's still a 5. Ouch. Maybe it was a good thing it wasn't licensed for streaming, otherwise I would have watched it.

I wonder how bad that Banished Hero anime is to score even lower than Rinkai. I don't think I've seen any discussion for this one anywhere.

I dropped it after episode 3, but I kept up with discussions and reactions for Unnamed Memory just because it was fun watching a trainwreck. It sounds like it remained an absolute joke the whole way through. There's still time for the scores to move, but right now on MAL Unnamed Memory is rated below both A Condition Called Love and Tonbo (which imo are criminally underrated). That makes me happy. UM deserves to be as low as possible.

Also, a few plot developments I saw people discussing put me off the whole story. Like, even if it was told well I don't think I'd like it. I was only two volumes in and in no rush to continue already, but Unnamed Memory also has the dubious honor of being the first manga I've officially dropped.

I'm a few episodes behind in S&W, but while I've been enjoying it and I love Holo, Lawrence is turning out to be not as great. He's holding the show back for me. Holo should find a better traveling companion.
