There's an issue with using certain keyboard shortcuts in LibreOffice Calc. Try just right clicking and copying + pasting that way. What operating system are you using?

Thanks for the info! It feels like the "basic" package (which includes the regular Hulu/Disney+/ESPN+ with ads) would suit their needs. They've somewhat embraced streaming, but they still sometimes like to just throw on a channel they like, such as History, Bravo, MotorTrend, etc., so they don't want to completely abandon the cable-style. Honestly, Cox tried to raise their bill to $200 this month for barely more channels than Hulu offers, so I was hoping to find an alternative for them, and this sounds like it.

Hope it works out for them. Depending on their budget, maybe look into something like Max as well. It doesn't have live streaming outside of sports and news but it does have the entire catalogue of channels like Discovery, ID, Food Network, HGTV, ID, MotorTrend, TLC, Travel Channel and Turner Classic Movies.

They'd probably like Hulu with Live TV then. It's just a standard basic cable package but streamed through the app and has its own channel guide UI like a cable box. There's also some premium channel add-ons they can optionally get, and if they like streaming platforms they could get the Disney bundle which gives them Hulu and ESPN but with ads.

If your parents like older TV shows you could always show them Pluto TV which is basically Paramount Plus's library but 100% free on a streaming app that functions like a cable guide.

It's the best non-traditional cable service but it might not be worth it depending on how much you watch regular television shows that aren't also on existing platforms. What are some shows/channels you regularly watch live?

My theory is that it's a Tim & Eric situation where there's something fundamentally wrong/off with him and that in some way he's being taken advantage of by a producer/editor with a lot more self awareness. I think once his movies gained a cult following someone struck up a partnership and doubled down (heh) on how shitty everything is.

He allegedly made his money by being a successful realtor and architect but he has no social skills and has shown no evidence of being competent at anything, which leads me to doubt his ability to use something like drafting software which has been standard in architecture for decades; let alone editing/graphics software.

Despite her immense talent her legacy is already that of a one-hit wonder who treated people terribly despite her entire gimmick being positivity. I wouldn't use that term or anything close to it in the slightest. If she just wanted clout and attention she would have posted something that egregiously comes off as rage bait.

She made a perfectly valid claim about the gaming industry that deserves to be made, but given the fact that it's on Twitter and being read by gamers on Twitter, there's realistically nothing constructive or productive that could come from the post outside of people signal boosting her account.

I have no idea how anyone could look at the second statement and see that as "anti white". The entire post was pointing out something very obvious about the gaming industry for the sake of driving engagement, hence the "raise your hand" part - a not-so thinly veiled attempt to get people replying, boosting the visibility of her page.

Media literacy needs to be taught in schools. It's not virtue signaling or hating white people, and it's sure as shit not making a stand for marginalized demographics. It's a quick and easy way to get clout on social media and hopefully parlay that into things like paid interviews and podcast appearances.

This makes no sense to me. If you were going to earnestly try to automate any field, wouldn't generic number crunching be it? I read shit on Reddit all the time about people who do nothing at their jobs because they figured out how to make batch scripts that do their work for them.

It's the same problem a lot of gamers and fans of "nerdy" media have. They're insecure as fuck that their hobby/interest is something a lot of the population looks down on, so they get incredibly defensive over what they perceive to be the most flattering, high-quality depictions of said media.

WWE smarks see the brand as top-notch, prestigious entertainment of the highest quality even though it's egregiously marketed towards children and still associated with the lowest-common denominators in demographics. AEW smarks see the brand as this spirited underdog reclaiming what wrestling should be about even though its completely aimless and has a fanbase largely comprised of cringey neckbeards.

In reality both brands do a lot right and wrong and are enjoyable in their own right. WWE is hitting a stride it hasn't seen in decades with a really engrossing championship angle and AEW is in the process of reinventing itself with impressive branding and a bunch of insanely talented, top-tier wrestlers jumping on board.

Sports are going to be a pain in the ass since each major league seems to be going with different platforms. I know Apple TV+ has a lot of MLB content, Amazon has Monday Night Football and Max is getting NBA, NHL and (eventually) AEW content.

I say all of that as someone who only watches AEW. I got into wrestling again through the first PPV they put out and ever since the ROH acquisition there's been no attempt to do anything remotely similar to the Hangman Page storyline.

I loved Dynamite for the longest time because even when the roster wasn't as robust as it was now, it had a lot of chaotic Attitude Era-esque vibes to it where you had no idea something was going to happen and you wanted to tune in next week to see what else was going to happen. The company now has arguably the best roster in modern history and their production's never been better, but outside of great wrestling matches there's something missing.

The simple solution is to just focus on interesting character work and angles while making Dynamite feel like unpredictable, must-see TV. For a really long time their weekly television has been extremely predictable with the only angles consisting of wrestlers claiming they're the best, only to be interrupted by another wrestler claiming they're the best, followed by them staring each other down.

As a fan it's really frustrating because the problems with AEW have been glaringly obvious for the longest time and Tony Khan knows damn well what they are since he spends most of his time being terminally-online yet he insists on doing everything that doesn't work.

Compared to earlier AEW there aren't any interesting storylines or angles and all of the booking consists of dream matches literally nobody outside a few hundred online turbonerds care about.

I can ramble about this topic forever. It's a problem that exists in a lot of sci-fi and fantasy fiction but the biggest reason why it's perceived as a problem is because of how viewers look at it from their own bias, having lived in an era where a lot of technological breakthroughs have happened one after the other. Also technology improves and develops based on human needs and how it's intertwined with financial systems, as opposed to advancement for the sake of advancement. 99% of the technological advancements we've seen throughout the past two centuries have been directly tied to streamlining the process of industrialization and securing/transferring finances with things like wars speeding the process up.

From a plot standpoint if the SW galaxy was at "peak technology" it'd be boring as hell and barely any of the in-universe problems would exist as they could easily be solved. Media set in the real world just a decade or two ago would be drastically different with a lot less conflict if something like smartphones existed. From a realistic standpoint it'd be logistically and financially impossible for every corner of the Galaxy to share the same technological/communications standards while also having the same long-term goals in mind.

One of my favorite swerves with this topic is how technology is handled in The Elder Scrolls. The games span roughly a millennia though technology's remained the same, and the reasoning why is that it's just more convenient and simple to use magic for many things, and that there's so much conflict in Tamriel that it's impossible for most societies to reach an industrialist stage without some major cataclysm happening, setting society back to square one.
