Good job on TC for stopping and taking the time to get the video. Six seconds, like wow.

Agreed. I'm taking this afternoon off through Monday. Might even take monday off idk. I still technically work the week between Christmas and new years, but literally nobody will be doing anything so I might as well save the PTO and do nothing anyways

i feel that. i used to purposefully take my vacation other times during the year and work that last week because it was so empty in the office and chilled out.

this year i got sloppy and let my vacation get away from me. when i reviewed my time off balance in early November i realized i had like 9 days to burn before 2022 or they'd be lost. so i took off all of Thanksgiving week and burned the rest at the end of the year.

We need Fox News to broadcast to its viewer base to just get the vaccine. Stop acting like the virus and the variants are a hoax or a democratic political tool.

But that will never happen.

the most frustrating thing about their whole "stance" on this is that not even THEY believe their own bullshit. the network implemented a vaccine requirement months ago and all of their employees, including these anchors who spout the bullshit on TV, have protected themselves. they're perpetuating a lie that literally causes some folks to die simply because it boosts their ratings and makes their viewers happy. these people have zero moral compass.

there are some undecided folks out there, or people on the fence. it's rare, but they exist

people can change sides, i'm living proof of this. but this kind of shift is usually gradual and is caused by a series of events. i used to be a very strong Libertarian when i was in college. but as i grew up and gained life experience i started shifting towards being a Liberal. every conversation or argument i had on the subject sat in the back of my head for years and years. eventually i found myself agreeing with the other side more than my original position.

negative.

implement vaccine checks / requirements everywhere to target those responsible for this mess. going to work? need a vaccine. going to the grocery store? need a vaccine or else do curbside pickup. wanna dine out? vaccine requirement or get carry-out.

these people want to exercise their "personal freedom"? fine, let them, but don't let them put anyone else at risk and force them to suffer inconveniences for their "freedom".

well, I mostly just throw every scrap I don't spend on essentials into VTI whenever it's red

that's a great mindset to have! the guidelines i've read over and over are, in priority:

  1. pay off high interest debt (ie credit cards, etc)
  2. take advantage of employer matches for long-term savings (401k match, etc.)
  3. establish an emergency fund to cover 6 months of living expenses
  4. max out Roth IRA
  5. max out 401k / etc.
  6. pay off 'normal' debt (this one is kinda tricky because, in theory, if the ROI of investments is greater than your interest rate you "shouldn't" pay off the debt)
  7. dump the rest into 'normal' investments like VTI

Simp posted...
which do you think is a better use of it?

as long as that stuff is making you happy, i dont think there really is a "better" use for it. it sounds like you're prepared and have your needs met, once that is done money is for enjoying.

I'm 35 and have never used a credit card

I only spend money that I actually have

i almost exclusively purchase things with a CC and have done so for ~20 years and i, too, don't spend money i don't have. i just watch my balance and know how much i have coming in the next paycheck (salaried employee). i've never paid a cent in interest fees.

in addition to rewards (ie cash back) you get added consumer protection when buying with a CC. it's much easier to reverse a charge you haven't paid for yet than it is to get money put back into your back account (ie spending with debit / check). you also get a whole bunch of consumer protections with credit cards you never see if you use debit.
