It's not like everything that exists today came to be like that in one go. Since the formation of Earth alone, millions of species have died out or evolved into something else, and entire continents have formed, shifted and or sunk before we got to how things are today. Evolutional mutations can and do occur randomly. It's just a matter of whether a species is better at surviving with or without that mutation, or whether they manage to adapt to whatever their circumstances may be, which eventually change inevitably.

If that doesn't at least make one consider the possibility of randomness, I don't know what will.

This is one of those complaints I've never understood people levying against bezos specifically. He has an $80,000 a year salary. He doesn't get stock options or bonuses. He even used to give stock to employees so they could have a stake in the company. His wealth is built entirely on the value of company and the investments he's been able to make by selling stock from that company. Complain about his warehouse conditions or any number of valid things, but it's not like he's the CEO of Walmart paying himself tens of millions of dollars a year or Elon Musk making $500 million in stock options.

Bezos is like the textbook definition of what people want CEOs to get paid and he still gets shit on for apparently paying himself too much.

Dang, he must've been saving up for quite a long time to easily afford a such a boat on a salary like that.

Yeah, that's mostly why I quit watching the show. They tried to humanize the Governor. I wish people would stop doing this in adaptations. The Governor was entertaining because he was an unrepentant, inexplicable piece of shit. He was a monster. He didn't need moments of humanity and they didn't need to ruin Andrea by making her team up with him.

Eh, I didn't really mind that he had moments of humanity. In the show it probably worked better than if they turned him into a stereotypical comic book villain (literally, in this case). Overally he was still an evil piece of shit, but from a televisual storytelling point of view, I think it was more interesting that there was a point where he could've chosen to walk away from the past and build a new life. Instead he chose to throw it all away for the sake of vengeance.

The Governor in the show was kind of stupid compared to The Governor in the comic

Comic Governor: Attacks the Prison out of blind rage and a desire for revenge after Michonne tortures and mutilates him.

Show Governor: Wants to live in the Prison because of how secure it is against walkers, so he destroys it with a tank, thus robbing it of its purpose.

Been a long time since I've seen the show, but from what I remember, at that point the Governor was obsessed with vengeance, especially against Rick. So much even that it blinded him from all the sensible reasons to attack the prison.

'Night', like the first episode of season 5 of Star Trek Voyager:

Voyager flies through this vast area of space without any stars of detectable phenomenae whatsoever in sight. Although they are surviving and are doing their best to do what they can, but the mental stress of their situation slowly culminates, and captain Janeway becomes secluded by staying in her quarters.

The current real-life situation of covid restrictions kind of reminds me of that. I'm alive, doing what I can and things could be worse, but aside from that all I can really do is wait for things to clear up, because a lot of factors of my life basically on hold right now until this blows over.

I have a question because I probably gonna get it done sometime this year.

Did you guys ask your primary care physician about it and then go from there or did you just call up a urologist in your network and start there? Like idk where to even get started.

Where I live it's mandatory to be referred by your own general practicioner. The GP talked with me about it for a while to make sure I was well-informed and had thoroughly contemplated this decision in a sane state of mind. He referred me to a urologist, with whom I had a similar conversation (albeit a bit shorter, probably because he knew my GP had this talk with me as well), after which a date for the procedure was planned.

On either the evening or morning before the procedure takes place, you'll have to thoroughly shave your scrotum. You should also arrange for someone to drive you home after the procedure and be prepared to be barely-mobile for at least two days (even if you feel like you have the energy to do stuff) as your junk will feel quite sore, and the skin needs to heal and will be especially fragile during that time.
Afterwards, it gets easier and you'll gradually be able to do stuff again, but remember take it easy for about two weeks.

Talib_21 posted...
Im in the operating room waiting on the dr, Im in the most vulnerable fucking position lmao

They let you hold on to your phone? But yeah, I remember that was pretty much the most physically vulnerable I've ever felt. I tried to relax, though the urologist urged me to calm down as I was too tense. After a little while, they slightly tilted the operating table, in order to get more blood flowing to my head which calmed me down. That combined with the anesthetic actually got me pretty high.

Wish I'd seen this topic a little earlier, but better late than never.

I had my vasectomy a little over two and a half years ago at the age of 32. My reason was/is that I am very sure I don't want children. Obviously I spent a lot of time researching and thinking about it beforehand.

During the operation I felt nervous, because I felt very vulnerable at that point, though I took solace in the fact that the procedure is relatively simple. A close friend drove me home afterward.
The first few days were quite uncomfortable due to the sore feeling and the fact I had to take it very easy. Especially keeping it clean and getting (un)dressed was a chore.
After the first two or three days it gradually gets easier. The sore feeling will fade and you should still take it easy as the sack will still be healing, but it won't be as fragile as during the first few days.
After about two weeks it should be healed, and after three months you'll need to have a jizz sample analyzed to make sure you're infertile.

The most important thing is to take it easy, especially during the first two or three days. Walk as little as possible, move slowly and just stay put. You really don't want those stitches to tear. If they do, get them (professionally) restitched ASAP.

None of those. I want things to change too but its very very discouraging that apparently global warming is happening even if we got rid of every car tomorrow.

And if I say that someone will just say "oh so you're not gonna try at all? You're a piece of shit."

Didn't say that either. It's not that I don't think I can make a difference (when we all work together) but our difference does not seem like it's enough. Cars and everything else are a necessity and they're fucking the world no matter what. Every day. That's not going to change.

I agree that quite likely it is gonna get bad, no matter what we do at this point. I do believe however we can make a difference in exactly how bad it's gonna get. We do have a (limited) ability to do what we can as individuals in many ways, and can inspire others to do so as well (as opposed to forcing/shaming them). That can give a certain satisfaction and hopefully positive effect as well.

The bipartisan system is a vicious cycle that likely won't end until something of war-scale proportions were to happen on the U.S. mainland (not that I'm hoping it will come to that, but I fear that's what it will take). All that can be done at this point is make the least bad choice of two bad choices. Anything else (with the current system) is just throwing away your vote and making it a little easier for the worst party to win. No matter what, either Dems or Reps win.

Still, I'd take regular turd sandwich right-wing that at least comes off as somewhat professional literally any day over batshit insane giant douche far-right-wing that proudly encourages public division and violence, and radiates an attitude that makes both the U.S. and the rest of the world hold its breath that he just might launch a nuke out of spite.

The only reason you think that is cause you don't look for good music.

Like if all you do is turn on the radio occasionally and go "gee this is bad" then sure I can see why youd think that. But realistically there's a fucking boatload of awesome bands out there and you just need to put some effort into finding stuff you like.

How much effort would that require exactly? I regularly hear contemporary music on the radio (like at work, where other people pick the channel as well) and sometimes my Google Nest plays something relatively recent.
I do think there are good contemporary songs here and there, but there aren't really a lot of recent musicians whose stuff I like overall, not like 20th-century musicians at least. I guess I could dig deeper by listening to entire compilation albums, but why would I do that if I feel like music made these days is meh at best?
