There are big chunks of that movie missing in my memory but I always remembered being confused as to why he suddenly turned on peter. Thats not what happened. He got his powers and then he was scared so he ran to Times Square for some reason. When he saw himself on the Jumbotron he was excited because people were noticing him for the first time. But then Spider-man arrived and the cameras all focused on him instead of Electro. Even worse, Spidey was trying to talk him down but the cops shot at Electro. So he get like spider-man lied to him about thinking he was important. Thats why he was hellbent on getting revenge.
