128 GB storage capacity is also a great move, considering Ipone doesn't have an micro SD slot, 128 is the minimum they should be using.

So summary of those 10 minutes TC suggests because nobody else is going to provide one

  • Suggestion that universities are against free speech
  • This is wrong - we can never have a complete dedication to free speech - some things are just not going to be discussed
  • Some things "should never come up in a classroom" and some people feel persecuted by their ideas not being given a proper attention - and this isn't a particlarly useful way to address these issues.
  • Pretends CRT is more than conservative culture war BS
  • Defines CRT as "power Differentials should be the only thing we focus on in America (in this case, racial power differentials)
  • Whites in America are on top and there are systemic issues unjustly pushing down non-white people
  • Power differentials is not a single thing you can directly address - but CRT says these differentials need to be front and center.
  • If you study literature - the more interesting thing is its implications for power differentials NOTHING ELSE (this is absolutely BS) and the only things schools these days focus on
  • "popular idea" that music theory is white supremacists' (legit never heard this before). There's apparently some academic who has argued that Beethoven is only just okay and the fact that he's arguing that is somehow a problem.
  • "Look at history" and frame history as supremacist and pretends that all of American Hstory has been about oppressing Black people (though he admits that's a pretty big part)
  • Argues wokeness is pushing power differentials above any other analysis
  • Claims woke-ness is a religion - if you don't agree with Racial power differentials being the only acceptable way of looking at something you're a bad person (who TF says this?)

I'm a little iffy here, because even the part of "some things are not going to be discussed" is a arbitrary line he makes up.

His definition of CRT also suggests he doesn't actually know what CRT is. CRT is a LENS which means when you look at a topic from this perspective you are literally looking at the racially focused power differentials. It doesn't mean this is the only acceptable option, its just another way of reading the topic.

But he also clearly understands the topic, because he uses an example of a class he took as a student and his teacher explaining potentially problematic themes in "My Fair Lady" - which he credits as a GOOD THING. But for some reason doing that now is bad.

Not to mention CRT isn't being treated as the only way of addressing things, by anyone except right-wing reactionaries. So his central argument just doesn't work.

If you want the conservative reactionary definition of CRT, this is pretty solid, but he's still wrong, because the conservative definition of CRT is an excuse to cover up their own racism/sexism/whatever they do people don't like.

You are ignoring so many significant details. Please don't argue in bad faith. This stuff is really easy to call out.

Calling Rey a Mary Sue is also ignoring many significant details.

The point is that Luke has the same amount of plot contrivance BS that Rey gets, but one gets a pass for it and one gets demonized for it. The extra context doesn't really matter in that sense.

But Luke doing the first thing that comes to mind is legit a part of his character. Him stopping for a moment to think for more than a second was part of the climax in Return of the Jedi.

....like 80% of Luke's role in Empire Strikes Back involves him failing, being rescued and generally getting his ass kicked.

And he literally does the first thing that comes to mind and it always works.

He's abducted by the snow monster (who's name I can't remember) "I'm just gonna kill him with my laser sword and wander off into a blizzard" AND IT WORKS OUT

Luke finds Yoda and clearly ignores the hour of training he receives to go test the Dark Side, then abandons his training to go save his friends. Which he does.

After he saves his friend, he goes straight after Vader despite the fact everyone else knows he doesn't stand a chance. But after Vader wrecks him, there's a sudden plot twist to keep him alive.

Vader offers to let Luke join the dark side, and Luke decides "aight I'm just gonna jump off this skyscraper I'm sure I'll be fine" AND HE IS

Luke is hanging on a radio antennae for his life with one hand about to die and thinks "I'll just think really hard and Leia will hear me" AND IT WORKS.

Bare minimum, Luke gets as much BS plot contrivances as Rey does. This doesn't even include him randomly getting a power boost in between Eps 5 and 6.

Its undeniable that a significant amount of the hate Rey gets was solely because she was a woman. Nobody hated the fact that literally everything Luke ever tried worked perfectly for him (and one of those things was jumping off a skyscraper)

I also thoroughly enjoyed TLJ and thought it was great. Its one of my favourites in the series.

Though from these tweets, she also seems like an ass. That doesn't mean the game won't be fine, but it means it'll be prime A targets for BS culture war crap from some very insecure snowflakes.

5-8 years seems reasonable for the most part, though now we're getting to a point where consoles don't really have much more room to improve.

I could see the PS5/Series generation lasting quite a while. As long as they keep putting out games, I could see this gem lasting like 10 years. Is there really going to be a huge demand for 8k 120 fps over the current targeted 60fps at 4k? That's reaching levels most people probably wouldn't care that much about.

Heck I wouldn't be surprised if the "Series" generation never really ends for Xbox, and any improvements they make a just a different in the "Series" lineup.

Its a weird mix of "apparently the Liberals never bothered to make an actual plan when they called the election" and "a lot of people are kind of pissed off at the Liberals calling an election during a pandemic" and "It seems pretty obvious the Liberals are calling an election to try to get a majority"

The conservatives are currently polling the highest, but their base is really concentrated, which means if they want to form government they need a really big lead, even for a minority government.

NDP is also doing quite well, which is a problem for Canadians because that's the NDP seem unable to actually ever win anything, and a strong NDP and weak Liberal party is exactly how conservatives could squeak out a win (which is probably the worst realistic option)

There are also plenty of things working against the conservatives though. Even conservatives hate Doug Ford, the Ontario (conservative) premier, who has pretty aggressively screwed up everything he's touched over the last few years he's been in power, and the Nova Scotia conservatives, despite being in power for about a week at this point, are going to extensive lengths to screw over all the young people in the province (who are already suffering due to a huge shortage of well-paying labour and high cost of living) which could quickly bite them in the ass with a federal election so quickly.

Then there's stuff like the People's Party of Canada, who is full of MAGA-idiots who haven't realized they don't live in the United States, or the Green Party who is in the middle of actively trying to kill itself for some reason.

I think the most likely result is that Trudeau squeaks out with another minority government. Though that means he'll probably call another in about 2 years.

The republican plan is do nothing to care about it, but get mad at the democrats over it anyways.

But depending on who you ask, since the US both controls its own currency and is more or less treated as the standard currency macro economically across the world, there isn't a real need to worry about it.

MMT is more complicated than just "print as much money as we need" (nor is that an accurate descriptor) but the national debt is nowhere close to as big a deal as we like to pretend it is.

God damn that Tobey movie for reinforcing that idea with a whole generation.

This. He's not really supposed to be a loser or geek or anything, he's just supposed to be a good-hearted dude who's always down on his luck. But people seem to have associated "down on his luck" with "nerd" and the MCU movies have just completely ignored it since "nerd is cool now".

Garfield's take on Parker being basically a trying to do well person, but also is stuck in his own head and probably a big part of the reason he's alone all the time should be way more relatable to people, but you can't dissociate the "stereotypical" nerd part because Parker skateboards in one scene.
