Yes, a lot of missing persons cases will fail to get nationwide attention regardless of the victim's race. There are too many missing persons cases for all of them to be nationwide news, just like there are too many mass shootings for them to all be nationwide news. The ones that are chosen to get that level of attention very often, perhaps even exclusively, have primarily white victims. Well, if I would provide a counterargument, I would ask this. Who is more likely to get national media attention right now? A black man who got shot by police or a white man who got shot by police? The media panders to whatever audience is going to give the larger reaction. Just as people of color would get more worked up hearing about another unjust police shooting, it's very possible suburban white people are the most likely group of people to be interested over a movie-like mysterious disappearance story. Let's not forget, this specific issue is a media problem first and foremost. They decide what to cover and what not to cover. --- Don't mind me. I'm just here for the contest. |

Those who have watched the series and love it, and those who haven't watched it yet and wonder what all the hype is about. It took me years to convince a friend of mine to watch it. He insisted he did not like animes or cartoons and it looked stupid. Literally took like 4-5 years, but finally got him to watch it, and of course in no time at all he was hooked and it became one of his favorites. Zigzagoon posted...
