JKR played the books very safe. A more compelling story would be Harry in slytherian and Draco gets put in a different house because deep down hes not as cunning as he wants to be, the characters would learn a lot more. I think one of the good parts/morals of the story is about how ultimately you determine your fate with your actions.

The sorting hat (society) will decide for you if you do nothing. But if you're determined you can make your own choices. The fact Harry would have been more powerful and more successful if he became a Nazi but chose not to because that's a bad thing is more interesting then "ur a Nazi now lolz."

I do agree the weak writing is everyone in Slytherin being evil. The fact not one Slytherin student defended Hogwarts at the end makes no sense whatsoever. Even for a kids story.

-Hires a new teacher who has Hitler literally living on his head

-Hires another new teacher who is a werewolf that endangers students
-Hires another new teacher who turns out to be a Nazi in disguise
-Employs a teacher for 30+ years he knows to be completely useless
-Doesn't reprimand Snape for abusing children year round
-Doesn't have any maths/science/English/Geography/Economics in the curriculum. Just magic.
-Houses 1/4th of the entire school inside a literal dank dungeon.
-Gets banks to give incredibly valuable items to be held in the school and sets up incredibly deadly traps. Attracting the most dangerous criminals in the world to go to the school and putting kids in danger
-Routinely rambles incoherant nonsense to the entire school
-Gives small children invisibility cloaks
-Doesn't send kids home when a fucking Basilisk is on the loose
-Kills self for no real reason when he's most needed

I mean we give Umbridge and the Ministry shit I get why parents were concerned. Feels like one of those "We like him because he was a hero back in the day" guys rather than a dude was good at his job. He's clearly unhinged, a terrible judge of character, doesn't perform background checks or indepth interviews with teachers and has no concern for the safety of students.

Like how everyone respects John McCain even though he didn't seem to know what he was doing as a Senator.

McGonagall really should have been in charge. She seems much smarter than Dumbledore and was the only one calling for sending kids home when they were in danger and I can't see her hiring any of the Dark Arts Teachers, except maybe Lupin.

But honestly I think you can make fun of absoutely anything.

You just need to actually be funny. Dave's transgender "jokes" that I heard just seemed to be basically going "Transgenders! LUL!" with no actual humor or wit

And the response seems pretty politically divided too which says a lot. Like it's a stance issue and not a joke.
