Raising taxes on the wealthiest individuals provides a net societal benefit, they are literally making money on making money; hyper capitalism has proven we can literally make money out of thin air and prosper because we all collectively agree it does. When we apply resources to infrastructure there is a always an exponential net benefit to society as a whole, applying adequate funding across the board to modernize infrastructure to a modern standard is necessary for the survival of the state and government as a whole.

The problem there is while we have some wealthy individuals here, I don't think there's enough to pay for everything. Unless you're talking about the US as a whole. Which them doesn't mean much unless they actually do something about it... Which there's a high chance they won't... And even if they did, I don't think out small town would get much, if any, of it...

And they already began modernizing some stuff, and are trying to fix the town. The main problem again is money... And the old council who fucked some shit up...

Robust government spending in public transit breeds benefits downstream that far out weigh the cost of service.

Pretty much all our money already comes from them. The problem, which isnt really a problem, is that they make the bus rides super cheap to help out the city rather than make money. A lot of people get cheap, or even free, rides. Like when they have medical things going on, for example. And students and seniors. Basically, it would cost the government a huge amount of money that they dont have to help out more than they already do. Getting more money from the government wouldnt help that much, tbh And would probably raise taxes significantly. Which would hurt more people. Not to mention, it doesnt matter much for
Military personnel as they have to get on base quite often. And the base is a decent size. Buses dont go on base. And people arent going to walk around the base from the gates Not to mention that the closest stop isnt close at all. Shopping at the commissary would be a nightmare. And while the vans can, and do, go on base, theres would be enough to cover base and off base like they do now. Plus, theres still the hours of only 6 am - 6 pm

I was thinking of it as a tournament. In a tournament, you dont get to change your moves between every battle. And dont get to change the ability at all

Not really. The stops feel too spread out. Had to get to. And the city already invest a lot of money. So much they they actually lose money running the buses. To have them run every 20 minutes, wed need to triple the buses. And to run every 10, wed need 12 times the buses. We have trouble getting one new buses with the citys help. They could never have enough money to do that within the next couple of decades. Not only that, but the vans are where more of the money goes. Not to mention the storage issue. We barely have room for the vans and buses. Technically, they own the empty lots across the street, but havent done anything with it. But thats partly because they dont have money

Thats basically the same as texting with the added benefit of you dont need a paid service (just access to Wi-Fi) to use. Its how I communicate with a friend who refuses to keep service on his phone.

The service reason, or not having the phone number, is probably the only reason Id used the apps to communicate. That way, I can keep the conversations all in the same spot

I generally use other apps instead of texting as well, just not Snapchat. However, that's more because I can use those apps on a computer as well so I'm not fiddling with a screen.

I thought this would be helpful with something like discord. But I usually end up turning off the notifications so I can watch videos without it going off every couple of seconds

I have seen that with women I meet on Tinder. Basically a way to communicate without needing to give your phone number or use Tinder's horrible interface. I also have friends who insist on using Facebook and/or Google Messenger.

I don't see it as a huge deal, but as a minimalist I would rather everybody just use one thing so I can delete the superfluous apps.

You can write words on pictures, which is what they use. But they also have a chat function that also disappears. Ive use it with my best friend once. I personally dont like my messages to disappear, though

This is also true. Choosing moves to face one specific Pokmon is cool. But not normally how the game works, AFAIK. You usually build a Pokmon based on what would be the most useful in multiple situations, right? Where is this case, were building it to face one specific Pokmon. Choosing its moves before the tournament would have been better. Especially since this isnt their only battle for half of them

It would have to be an item that either negates Froakies speed advantage, or something that would let Rhyperior go first, which would then leave it reliant on a successful attack; that's a coin flip.

Majority of the time, Froakie gets the speed advantage and the Super Effective multiplier, and when it goes to 4X STAB like it does against Rhyperior's dual type, the multiplyer becomes a little broken.

I love protean, but if that is not on a ban list somewhere, I would be surprised.

Depends on which city, and how youre getting around. Like for my job, if we dont count the people that live on base, most live with 20-30 minutes of the base. And a good chunk of those live about 10 minutes away in the complex pretty close to base The time for the 16 miles might change. But I dont think most cities would make it take 45-60 minutes to travel 16 miles. Maybe New York or something. But not most places

That is the core of the issue. There's a vicious cycle wherein people don't use transit when the service isn't good enough, which leads to cuts in transit services because there aren't enough passengers to support them. Many places do have absolutely terrible transit systems that are in no way an acceptable substitute for driving (heck, a few years ago here, many employers were outright refusing to hire people that relied on buses because they were so unreliable). So long as efforts to improve service aren't made, though, the demand will never be there. A serious commitment has to be made to making transit a viable alternative to driving before people will even give it a chance.

We still have a ton of people using the service. We just dont get any money Its a cheap service already, so the money is nowhere near enough to fuel us. But then, many people get discounts for medical reasons And senior discounts

Nobody would, but sometimes, practical limitations demand giving up conveniences, especially when you start scaling them up such that everybody has them. If money were no object, I'm sure we'd all love to be taken door to door by a personal helicopter because that would be super convenient, but if everybody tried to do that, the air traffic would be so bad that a lot of the potential time savings would be lost and there'd be no room to land. That's obviously an extreme hypothetical scenario with no chance of ever being realized, but it's reasonably analogous: Giving everyone the convenience of using a personal car for everything has created massive inefficiencies and introduced new inconveniences that ultimately make for a worse experience.

For me, it depends on the inconvenience I dont mind looking for parking spaces. But I dont want to walk from the bus stops or wait when I want to go somewhere at a specific time

I think this problem. Not all cities have a decent one. My city is ok. But we dont have a ton of buses. So, we have 8 routes around the city. And its an hour per route. So, if you miss the bus, you have an hour before the next one

Do you think just walking all the time will solve their problems? Because it won't. There's more to it. Like a change in diet. And the actual want to change. You can walk all day and still be obese if you still don't change your diet. And honestly, more exercising that walking should be done, as well. Walking alone isn't going to do anything. So yeah, I think it's fine if people only walk when they want to... So, if they had a long day, it's probably safer for them to park closer to the store... And that's fine. Most people aren't going to want to walk however far to get to the store and back. Especially when you add in other stuff, as well... Just let people live their life the way they want to...

That's because I could care less about whether their job was sedentary or not. You can see that in my last post. Doesn't change what I said in the first post, either. As I said, either way, after a long day, they probably don't want to walk. If they wanted to walk, they would. And they could easily do so at a different time/place rather than when going to the store. And honestly, if they are going to walk around the store anyway, they'll get some walking while in there...

Yeah, the whole buss and group transport thing would be a major change, but if you stopped buying cars, didn't have to pay insurance, didn't have to pay gas etc, you could afford to pay for uber trips etc easily when you wanted to go somewhere fast.

Electric cars are also a viable option, but again, it makes more sense as a nation to focus on making public transportation (and using electric buses in the future probably), a more viable/easy option. It won't work for everywhere, but you could improve the system we currently have.

As far as not making it faster then the current setup, it really isn't hard considering how bad traffic is right now. If you halved the traffic and added direct busses, in many places you would have the commute time. To get from olympia to Tacoma alone in the morning can take 1-2 hours, but if there was no traffic at all, you could do it in a bit over 30 minutes.

That would be great if it was just a car you owned, but the problem is too many people trying to do that at once, causes massive traffic jams, so it takes forever.

But what if you halved the people doing that, added busses that did a direct drive from olympia to tacoma in 30 minutes. You could drop an 1 1/2 commute to only 30 minutes each day, and you even get to read/watch a show on your phone etc while doing it.

You wouldn't change everything all at once, but you could start working in that direction, making it easier and easier for people to use public transportation. Perhaps make the commute lane into a bus/carpool lane only for instance (instead of only needing 2 people in the car). That lane would be free of traffic so right away busses could do the trip in 30 minutes while everyone else is taking 90.

Over time more and more people would use the bus, and as there was more demand (and therefore more money being made), more busses would be added.

A fairly full buss is certainly gonna make a decent profit, especially per day.

Anyway, we really need to start making more/easier public transportation options for people, especially as our elderly population keeps getting larger. We are gonna have a ton of people who can't drive themselves anymore.

Sure. I could pay for Uber. But why pay other people and have to wait when I could just use the same money and go where I want to go when I want to go. No waiting, no extra money because I forgot my wallet and have to go back, no having to take every driving to the visitors center to get a pass, etc I like to go where I want to go when I want to go. And many people dont always feel safe with a stranger. Or comfortable. Plus, I like to nap in my car during work sometimes Plus, it wouldnt be fast if everybody was using Uber. As for buses, they do get full sometimes. And thats with the limited number of riders we have since many people here have personal vehicles. I can only imagine what it would be like if everybody had to use them And my town isnt even that big

As for the time, depends on how fast the buses actually travel. Even with a little heavier traffic, the buses can move at full speed. But they usually keep a safe speed since they take longer to stop because of the weight. Meaning that they may not move that much faster just because of less traffic if they were moving the max speed they already were able to already That changes based on where it is, though Either way, thats you assuming the commute will drop. Even if the commute dropped, the amount you proposed (dropping an hour) seems to high an amount. That seems more like wishful thinking Buses can and do go fast. But usually not as fast as cars. So, the trip would be less, but you probably wouldnt be shaving if an hour. Or course, this does depend on the area and why it takes so long

As for making public transport easy, its already easy. The problem is how inconvenient it is for most people And how far bus stops can be from the places they need to go. Why walking down the street and a couple of blocks over to ride the bus, when you can go to your driveway or garage? Why get dropped off at the corner when you can get a parking space in front of the store? Why only by a couple of bags at the grocery store when you need more because many uses have a bag limit? Pet transport is harder, as well Why have to carry all your bags with you when out for a day of shopping since you dont have a car to offload your stuff? Why carry your other bags and stuff when you would normally leave it in the car? Its just more inconvenient than having a personal vehicle in most cases

As for the money, I think you are overestimating how much buses make. We get a bunch of full buses at the station I work at, and dont really get much. For them to get a ton of money to buy many buses, the price would need to rise. Probably higher than the cost of Taxis. At least for a while. Theyd also have to start charging kids, students, and seniors not only full price, but a higher price, as well So, no. A fairly full bus right now doesnt normally make a decent profit everyday. Bus rides are cheap. Ive seen them count the money for a days worth and weeks worth before. Its not good. And thats before you get to the money they need for gas for all of them, and parts, and maintenance, and the people they currently pay
