It's releasing one week before Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl.

From everything I've seen of both games, SMT5 is shaping up to be the far better game than BDSP, but I'm not naive; BDSP is going to do far better commercially due to it being a Pokemon title. But still... I think this is the first time a SMT game has pretty much had to compete directly with Pokemon, especially seeing as SMT5 is a Switch-exclusive.

People have the right to criticize a game that they feel isn't shaping up to how they feel it should be. And considering that Pokemon is a billion-dollar franchise, they can do so much better than what they are giving us with the BDSP remakes.

That's why I'm skipping them, and will be turning my attention towards Shin Megami Tensei V, which releases a week earlier and is looking to be a far better game than BDSP.

• Forced experience share.
• Likely no ingame GTS (you have to use the mobile version of the HOME app).
• Online interactions are now paywalled (which is more of an issue with the Switch itself and not BDSP, but still, it's worse than how it was done before).
• It looks to be following the ORAS method of remakes and not including the extra content from Platinum (no Battle Frontier, specifically). Before you say that it's because the Frontier wasn't in the original DP games, remember that HGSS included just about all of the Crystal content, which is why HGSS is still to this day the gold standard of Pokemon remakes.

Hacking the Gen 7 games showed that every Pokemon up to Gen 7 already had both walking and running animations.

And with the Isle of Armor update, pretty much all of them do now.
