I'm trying to visualize the scenario.

It says he was shot while holding the gunman's rifle, which means the gunman was down and the officer most likely did not see this guy actually shoot him. So the officer comes upon a man holding a rifle, but it wasn't the shooter so presumably he wasn't pointing the rifle at officers or bystanders, wasn't actively firing at all. And since he wasn't the shooter it seems pretty likely he would have surrendered quickly if the officer verbally engaged him. The way it played out seems to indicate that the officer made no attempt to order him down and simply shot him on sight, and somehow that's okay.

Shooting on sight seems to be the way most cops do things. And it gets justified with dispatcher told them it was an active case!well then you cant tell people to use their guns to stop bad guys if cops are just going to shoot in fear.

a few weeks ago there was that report of a rape taking place on a subway with no one helping. What if they helped and a cop happened to come in at that moment thinking the helper was assisting the or was the rapist fighting someone helping. Theyd blast. Wed love to live in a perfect world where good guys help everywhere, but the leeway weve given to cops makes that a scary thought.

This is a clear example of why the law is dumb. They can straight up say yes its an AK style assault rifle, yes Kyle obtained it illegally, yes he killed two people with itbut we cant do anything because the barrel isnt long enough.

I think a bunch of brown people should get guns the exact same size in someone elses name and start patrolling the streets with them. Watch how everyones opinion changes on it.

Theyll just ignore the piles of evidence like that. It didnt happen in this exact case in that exact way so therefore we cant point out obvious injustices from the past.
