The perfect combination of events taking you by surprise but also seeming obvious in retrospect. I knew something was up with Truman as soon as Ford said it was a mistake to put his brain back together. But it simply never occurred to me that someone had simply did a brain swap with him. Despite literally doing the same thing with Nick's body who ends up being the actual villain.

Then as soon as that reveal happens it doesn't feel out of left field at all. Oh that was why his body was being mailed to Truman. He was trying to smuggle himself into the office. Then you realize that it wasn't even really Truman that was rescued in Rhombus of Ruin. Oh and his name wasn't Nick Johnsmith because he was boring. It's because it was a fake name.

Nona being Maligula was also pretty good. The head shape being an obvious clue although I'm not if there more. But it really fleshes out Ford Cruller in a way that was pretty unexpected.

Damn what a great game and series. I think it's easily the best story I've played in a 3D platformer although it's not like the competition is strong.

I think it's a shame that's the only Rockstar game we've gotten since GTA5 originally came out.

Games on this scale take at least 5 years to make now unless they work on a production like like Ubisoft.

No real way to avoid it anymore. They took that long to make RDR2 even with a large amount of crunch.

I don't think they've gone wrong really.

But their games are less gamey than they used to be. They want the world's to feel immersive and the stories to be taken seriously. So that's probably your big issue.

I just wish the missions allowed more player freedom.

Personally I think that while they are legit they could simply be from pitches that didn't go anywhere or tech demos.

Sure but it's also why Sony refuse to do free upgrades and also why Playstation Now is always gonna suck in comparison. Even if they delayed games for like a year to put on the service it means less people are gonna pay $70. So instead it's gonna be a half-assed secondary thing like the Vita was.

Dont think they say that Darmik

Sony are really desperate to get that $70 price tag to stick. It's why they tried to sneak in removing upgrades for upcoming crossgen games.

If they aren't even willing to reward players for being loyal to them I doubt they're gonna come up with a compelling Game Pass competitor anytime soon. They aren't even willing to give a next gen patch for Uncharted for free.

MrMallard posted...
Oh shit, good for them. The delay must have been worth it.

It's not my cup of tea, I don't care about super polished high concept FPS experiences - like there was a glorious period of my life around 2010 where my favorite FPS was AssaultCube, and right now I'm playing Doom 64 with plans to play Quake and Duke Nukem 3D after that - but I can certainly respect a good game getting the credit it deserves.

It's more of an immersive sim than a typical shooter if that makes a difference.

Keep in mind that time only progresses when you travel between regions. So I think it's possible that you need to do narrative stuff before it's actually possible to kill all of the targets.

Is it really a roguelite like Hades? My impression was that it's a linear story game around a time loop mechanic.

From what I understand you have 12 targets to kill. You spend your loops uncovering information on how to kill them more efficiently to kill them in a single loop. Your progress does reset although it takes two deaths for this to happen and you can accumulate resources to permanently keep certain powers and and weapons. So you're still overall leveling up.

Nothing is random and I think the narrative does mean you aren't playing it like a roguelike. I think certain guards can even stay permanently dead.

DA Origins doesn't use dice rolls.

KOTOR specifically uses turn based dice rolls to calculate your hits. It all runs in the background but rolling the dice is how it is calculated.

Specifically in KOTOR the issue is you start on Taris often missing hits on basic enemies so that planet drags more than it should and then suddenly you're just overpowered and Flurry + Force Speed just overwhelms basically everything.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is the type of combat I want in KOTOR. Skills are important. Melee and ranged both have uses. Skills are still useful. The game can basically pause while you choose a command. etc. I think that's a good middle ground.

It's not "just" the studio audience. They definitely enhanced it. It's so obvious just listening to one episode.

Whenever they do retakes (which is all the time) they use the laughs that work best for that scene and mix and match as required. They can also choose to enhance laughs that work or remove ones that are too noticeable.

All sitcoms with a live audience do this. If they didn't you'd hear random coughing or distracting laughs. But it is still a live audience.
