Aristoph

It's getting ridiculous. They used to only show up occasionally in the recommended section, and I always just passed it off as a weird glitch in their system. Not a big deal.

But lately it's been happening constantly. Like if I hit refresh, there's almost guaranteed to be at least 1 video in the first 20 recommendations that I've already watched. Usually more. And I'm not talking about having watched them on another account or anything understandable like that. I mean the video even has the red progress bar on the bottom of the thumbnail showing how much of the video I watched. And when you hit the little drop down, select "Not interested", and click on "Tell us why" the first option is always "I've already watched this video." Why is that even an option?? If I've already watched it, and you know I've already watched it...don't fucking show it to me again! What the fuck, YouTube?!?

But just now, the most ridiculous thing happened. I saw a video in the recommended, watched it, then clicked back to the home page...and that same fucking video I literally just finished watching was the very first fucking recommendation. This is getting asinine.

That actually sounds amazing

Yeah, it's a personal favorite of mine. The story is decent, and the world is pretty well realized. But what really made it so memorable for me was the super creative use of their powers. And as you learn some of the characters' penances and see how extreme they can get, you start to realize they can't just spam their abilities constantly for everything and really need to choose carefully when they use them. So most of the characters don't feel like they're just crutching on their one special move or gimmick like ends up happening in so many other shows. They genuinely try to do as much as they can without their abilities, so the characters end up feeling a lot more well-rounded and fleshed out despite it only being a relatively short series.

I just wish there was more of it, honestly. I'd love a really deep exploration of the world 'cause there's so much potential in the premise.

Never heard of 'em

Must be good if the BluRay is 400 freaking bones

It is a really solid anime. Basically, certain people develop very unique superpowers. But every time they use their power, they must perform some form of penance shortly afterwards (for example, one guy's penance is that he must break one of his fingers after each use). Also, each is tied to a specific star in the sky that will glow brightly whenever the user activates their power. So everybody knows who is using their powers and when, but not necessarily where or how.

The sequel, Gemini of the Meteor, doesn't really live up to the original. But it's still half decent and gives a bit more insight to the world.

There's 2 things that generally apply to these kinds of fetishes (feet, armpits, etc.) that could explain what causes them to be relatively common.

  1. Most of the time those parts were covered and couldn't be seen. People usually wear socks and/or shoes, so seeing exposed feet is rare. People usually have shirts with some form of sleeve, so seeing their armpit directly is rare. That rarity creates curiosity, which leads to attraction.
  2. Many times, well groomed body parts were a sign of wealth or comfort. If you had clean, smooth, callous-free feet it meant you didn't spend all day working in the fields or doing hard labor. If you didn't have armpit hair, it meant you could afford luxuries such as razors.
Of course, in modern times these things have become commonplace. Sandals are popular, especially in the summer, so feet are more exposed than they ever used to be in the past. Personal grooming products are also no longer expensive and only obtainable by the wealthy, as well as better shoe design and cheaper manufacturing making it possible to work hard labor without destroying your feet.

So the attraction came from the rarity, and the reason these fetishes seem to be more common now is simply because they're more accessible than in the past. But they still have that residual feeling of "this isn't supposed to be exposed...I'm not supposed to see this."

Dumbass Professor: We should do this, so that X will happen.
Critics: But we can't do that because then X will happen!

Like...yeah...that's his point. The argument should be about whether destigmatizing the underlying mental health issues is the best way to prevent children from being hurt. I'm not sure what the statistics show, or if there's been any real foundational studies done on it, but that's the actual conversation that should be taking place.

Not at all. I hope it happens sooner rather than later, tbh.

And don't worry, this isn't a cry for help or warning sign or anything of that nature, so relax. I simply don't like the world we live in and wish I wasn't stuck in it. But I also consider suicide to be a cowardly act that solves nothing and only causes pain to those you leave behind. I have a wonderful family and many very dear friends, and I can put up with any amount of misery for as long as I have to if it means not hurting them. So I will.

Still, deep down, I wish a drunk driver would run a red light and it would just be over in a snap. I know it's dark, but I'm completely at peace with the idea of simply not existing anymore.

And before anybody asks, no I don't walk around miserable all the time and ruin peoples' days. I've had many people ask why it seems like I never stop smiling. And when I used to work the night shift at a gas station, I had several regular customers who told me they always stopped in on their way to work every morning specifically because I was always in a good mood and helped start their day off on the right foot.

And it's technically not even released yet.

The game is an absolute blast to play. You can tell 343 really love the franchise and have done their best to recapture the glory days of classic Halo 1-3 multiplayer.

It's also painfully obvious that they were forced into the predatory monetization by Microsoft, knew it was a stupid move, that the community would lose their shit over it. There's a couple interviews of the devs basically saying "yeah, we hate it too, but they wouldn't let us do it our way." Hopefully M$ sees the outrage and back off to let 343 fix it.

EDIT: I get serious Destiny vibes from the situation, honestly. It's almost a mirror of Bungie and Activision's relationship. Hopefully 343 can take control of their game the way Bungie did with Destiny, even if it doesn't come to splitting from MS entirely.
