Why was Ultron so easily able to one-shot Thanos, who had control of 5 infinity stones at the time? While the obvious answer is that the episode only gave them 30 minutes to work with, at the same time, that seemed like it should have been an exhaustive uphill battle for Ultron to win.

I mean, Thanos would've died just as easily if Thor had just gone for the head. And there's a reason they had to make sure Vision was nerfed before Thanos showed up in IW.

The real question is, since the Infinity Stones only work in the real universe, why didn't they go inert the moment Ultron got in to the Watcher's domain?

There's nothing indicating that rule applies in the movies. The TVA is the only place that is seen to have some kind of block on them, and that's unique to them and blocks all magic not just the stones. The Watcher's realm is very much not blocking magic.

No I don't think that tracks. That Ultron did in fact come from another reality in Episode 7. So he would have already been able to break the multiversal barrier. Yet in Episode 8 we also watched Ultron learn about the multiverse and Uatu learned he knew at the same time.

Uatu, by all accounts, exists in a plane outside the multiverse. It's a different feat to travel between universes versus to exist on the same level of "a god" as Evil Strange called him.
It's also a different feeling to watch a being invading an alternate timeline, versus looking right into its eyes as it evolves to be able to challenge you.

Great episode, but I don't understand how The Watcher clearly saw this Ultron in another universe last week, but then was shocked to learn he could break the multiverse barrier.

That Ultron wasn't a visible threat to The Watcher himself in that moment. It wasn't until this episode that he watched, in real-time, as Ultron became aware of his little pocket dimension and subsequently become capable of breaking into it.

Because it was being used for Steve's Hydra Smasher.

Because the allies got the Tesseract earlier.

They took the Tesseract from Hydra. Their plans were delayed, but Red Skull didn't just shit out that portal machine overnight. The shift in his plans had to have happened much earlier.

Hydra got the Tesseract much later in this timeline, therefore had less time to plumb its secrets and were more desperate to do risky things like open a portal with it.

So you acknowledge that there has never been a single split to any of these universes and it's more complex than "a single decision".

Even in the first episode it wasn't "one decision" that made the difference. Why was Red Skull suddenly trying to summon Shuma-Gorath instead of making Tesseract powered weapons?
It doesn't really make sense for these drastic changes to occur from a single change, and even if you accept that then there should also be infinite possible universes for every possible decision. There's a universe where Captain Rogers fought Shuma-Gorath, there's a universe where both Steve and Peggy became super soldiers, there's a universe without super soliders, there's a universe where neither Captain made it to 2008 to lead the Avengers, etc. There's never going to be a single, clean split.

The "mainly" on Switch games is intriguing, especially in light of the patent for a new controller.

Pretty sure the "mainly" is referring to the entire rest of the phrase of "Switch games launching this winter." The rest is more likely to just be stuff for next year, or DLC announcements like the final Smash character.

I watched the first episode way back when, it was the incredibly generic cop procedural "WITH A TWEEST" that was so popular with networks for some reason.
The only interesting thing about it was he was "bi" seemingly only so they could use a "devil's threesome" joke and then I assume never mention it again.

I mean, not really. The legislature has a Dem supermajority that will make sure any Republican that wins could do absolutely nothing until a Dem is back in the office after next year's election.

I seem to recall that recreating Mode 7 is not the easiest thing in the world.

They could just copy over however they did it on GBA. The only reason the releases are so staggered is because they figure more people will buy sooner if they dont have to pay all at once. These arent exactly ground up remakes.

Also I think the fact that 4-6 are considerably bigger games might have something to do with it as well.

Considering its mostly copy/pasting the GBA sprites with minor touchups (aside from III which appears to have used sprites from Record Keeper), Im not sure that really matters.
