Charizard might have been the best fire type (though Arcanine probably had a strong case back then. Then of course with abilities becoming a thing in gen 3, Arcanine became much better due to a having a much better ability in Intimidate), but it wasn't by much and fire types weren't that good in Gen 1. Charizard was in no way the best Fire type. Arcanine and Ninetales were both superior. Luckily Discovery got better in seasons 2 and 3, Lower Decks is great, and Brave New Worlds looks like it's going to be fun. I dunno about Prodigies or the other stuff in the works.
