Nobody's a particularly interesting character. The conflict isn't getting interesting. It's just vague crime syndicate power struggles and it's not even getting into the gritty details of that kind of stuff.

The extra dungeons for ff4, 5, and 6 were pretty substantial. They add about 15-20% playtime to the games plus add a lot of challenge.

I've already said earlier in the topic that I like IV's expanded stuff, in particular the Lunar Ruins character-specific areas.

But the rest of it is just "more" without being substantial. Oh so I just have to grind up more and beat these long and frustrating dungeons and unfair bosses, and the reward is the knowledge that I beat them? Sounds lovely.

Not to mention you're trying to market "more playtime" on what is already a 40 hour experience like it's a good thing.

I agree the bonus content was pointless fluff for the most part, but it doesn't make sense not to include it.

I feel like the whole point was a "pure" experience like the original, which is why FFI went back to spell slots instead of MP. That's the vibe I'm getting from the PRs anyway.

I'm not saying it's perfect, but I'm pretty sure it's what they were going for.

Again, you can like what you like, but pretending that the extra content is essential for the experience is just kinda funny.

You're not getting any more of an experience by having the Gigantuar Esper.

Dude you can like what you like. I'm just telling you that for a story based RPG in particular, I personally feel that (apart from what I already mentioned) all this extra content is just tacked on fluff.

Can be nice to have but ultimately unnecessary.

I can't remember every bit of extra content from 1-6 redos over the years, but I seem to recall that the only ones that stood out to me was the extra stuff from IV, because each character got their own special section of the Lunar Ruins that applied to them. Most of the rest of them were just hard bosses and a bit of extra stuff (extra jobs in V, extra Espers in VI).

Although I never did it, I do like the idea of II with playing as the dead characters in the extra content.

Yeah. They're taking extra time with 6 for some reason. It's a great game, but it feels weird to not put as much effort into the other 5.

6 is a BIG game with a lot of different sets and setpieces. It's supposed to be out in February.

I don't like the looks of the PSP remakes.

I knew her because she and I (and my sister) went to the same daycare as kids. Since my sister and I were older we kind of acted as older sibling types to her and other kids around her age. She was ND, but it's not something I recognized at the time. Once we stopped going to daycare, we didn't really keep up with all the kids.

Once she died, I'd learned that she'd had a hard time of it going through college with being ND and fell in with a fast-living crowd. She died due to a drug overdose.
