Orlando Jones wasn't a child actor

Whoever that dude was that played on "That's So Raven." Orlando Brown. Interview in question.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kagfHv7J6BY

Darius McRary played in Mississippi Burning, which caused him to have a breakdown on the set of Designing Women. The director didn't give a shit about him and kept pushing him. His mom had an argument with the director and he was fired from the show. He credits his mom for protecting him from the worst of the business.

The guy that played Eddie Winslow on Family Matters once made a good point in a DJ Vlad interview. Child acting tends to attract scumbag parents who see and use their kid as a cash cow. He considered himself lucky because he wasn't pushed into acting and his parents threatened to yank him out of it if his grades slipped. But his friend Orlando Jones was the bread winner of his family and his parents yanked him out of school regularly so he could keep acting.

In the worst case scenarios, parents have pimped their kids out to child molesters with power in the industry to advance their kid's career (like what happened with Shirley Temple). A scrupulous parent who legitimately cared for their kid would have pulled their kid out of that situation. Going back to Orlando Jones, even if he never was a child actor he still wouldn't have stood a chance by just having those parents.

My company also didn't have lactation rooms 10 years ago, but were forced to after our company grew in size. We had been in violation of California law according to a work place auditor we had hired. Bathrooms did not cut it because they were unsanitary. It was an easy fix though. We just converted one of our unused office rooms.

In the lore of the series, the Purge was invented to harm the poor and help elevate the rich. Most elites are untouchable either by law or because they have so much power to protect themselves

IIRC the government also used it as a way to solve the homeless problem. It comes out that very few purge, they just hole up in their homes and wait the night out. Most of the roving bands are actually either white supremacist militia types, rival gangs, or law enforcement masquerading as purgers killing off the homeless.

He told the researchers that humanity had doomed itself to extinction, and that octopuses and crows were at war with each other over who would take humanity's place as the next dominant species.

The higher being ascended, leaving the mortal he possessed to suffer and die on the cross. Jesus the mortal was considered evil in the same way that they considered stone, wood, flesh and all forms of matter to be evil and therefore something to be escaped.

I was listening to a lecture by theoretical physicist Sabine Hossenfelder. She felt that modern theoretical physics was too preoccupied with looking for "beautiful" answers. She believed a lot of workable theories for long standing problems that fit the observations were rejected by the community because they were too complex and messy. Instead they would rather prop up "beautiful" simple models even if they introduce new unobserved particles.

It should be mentioned she prefers modified gravity models (MOND) over theoretical dark matter particles (WIMPs and MACHOs). She also thinks Many-Worlds and the Multiverse theories are religion for scientists.

That's surprising. I got the feeling GRRM gave D&D a rough draft of how he planned to end it, but they screwed it up so badly he now has to come up with something new for the novels.

GRRMs dilemma in the novels was how to get all his characters back together at the right place and time for the final book without it looking contrived considering they are scattered all over his world. D&D made his job harder because he has to come up with a different ending on top of that.

Beltran was the only cast member at the time of Voyager making noise in the media about how bad the show was. For this, he had a lot of supporters in the fandom who also hated Voyager. He also acted as an unofficial spokesperson for the minority actors on the show. He was on a roll when he mentioned how Garrett Wang was the most mainstream of the actors due to being voted one of the sexiest men in a magazine, but hardly had screen time.

If the production fired Beltran, they were afraid it would validate every criticism he made about the show and how they treated the cast to the press. Instead, the producers tried to appease him through preferential treatment. They gave him Chakotay specific episodes, more screen time, and they hooked his character up with 7 of 9, who was the most popular character at the time.

IMO it was doomed to failure because it was organized by Anarchists. In interviews, they said they went out of their way to not have a unified message or face because they didn't want a single group to be dominating the protest. It was whatever you wanted to protest about (women's rights, police brutality, racism, the environment, labor rights).

They didn't have a unifying message so the media was obliged to make one for them, and it wasn't flattering.

It also won't help if the subject truly believes in what they are saying even though it is false. I've read comics where someone got past telepaths and lie detectors by brainwashing themselves or altering their memories. They could Light Yagami their way past those things. I have heard it used in that context before.

IIRC it started in the restaurant service industry near the US-Canadian border. Canadians were stereotyped as being lousy tippers so waiters warned each other if a table was full of Canadians. Blacks were also believed to be lousy tippers, but it would contribute to a hostile work place to say to avoid a table full of blacks. Service just called them Canadians too since it still got the point across not to expect a good tip.

Afro-textured hair is actually very dry, making it fragile. Shampoo your hair at most twice a week, with two to three day intervals in between. All other days, merely rinse and pat dry. If you shampoo every day, you end up washing out the natural oils that protect your hair, making it even more dry and brittle.

There's a cliche about black women not liking their hair touched or soaked, but it's a good practice for black men to adopt.

It's a weak theory of mine, but I believe the powerful demon who refused to name himself and whom Solomon could not control was meant to be Legion. It was written to tie the book into the New Testament story when Jesus exorcised Legion and placed them into pigs. The apocrypha demon mentions he is a demon of the Jordan River, which is where the pigs ran to.

Now of course we could argue that said leash is not inherently bad (the bible admonishes things we generally agree are bad, like murder) but on the other side you see what a loaded gun it is in the hands of say Southern baptists.

There is one apocrypha book, The Testament of Solomon, where King Solomon has to outwit 32 demons. He enslaved them with a holy ring so that he could use them to build the temple. Each demon is described like something out of Silent Hill. The book might have been written by a Greek speaking Christian.

Most of the Midwest states were hastily created due to the North and South fighting for power in Congress during the 19th century. They were only concerned with getting enough settlers out there so that they could hold a vote for statehood. Whether they enter into the union as a free state or slave state determines if its the North or the South who gain more representation in government.

This is why you now have these huge states with the area of a mid size European nation, but with only a few thousand people living in it.

The only thing I really liked about the 80s was the indy and black music scene up until the 1984. If I had to pick bands just in punk and New Wave:

B-52s (surf-punk era)
Psychedelic Furs
The Clash
Romeo Void
Killing Joke
Marshall Crenshaw (50s throwback rockabilly)
Human League
Falco (the German hits that didn't crossover)
The Cure
The Pretenders
Klaus Nomi

It was mainly the grundgy, dirty guitar sound a lot of these groups leaned on. If you want a couple examples of this guitar sound, then "Rock Lobster" by the B-52s and "Rock the Casbah" by The Clash.

Anthony Hopkins said he couldn't travel due to the pandemic and asked if he could use Zoom but the director of the Oscars said no. I'd assume all the nominees were told they had to be there in person if they wanted to give an acceptance speech.

Spectrum TV interviewed the director of the Oscar awards a few days before the event. He made a big deal about his grand vision where all the nominees attended in person during the pandemic. It would make his award show stand out over others which relied on Zoom and then bragged about all the safety precautions they took, such as no hugging the winner and seat screens. He even promised to wear his shoes during the telecast.

What did Gen X get?

The Challenger Disaster. Every school kid in America saw it happen live, uncensored in their classrooms.
