This is the kind of thing that really makes me sad for other people. They feel so damaged by their parents that they don't believe they could be better.

The sad part is the shit job their parents did and not that they didn't become parents. If a child doesn't exist they don't need to do better. While trauma may give a person insight on what not to do to a child, it doesn't teach them what they should be doing instead. I honestly doubt most parents even bother doing any research or training in child rearing.

The world would would be a better place if only people who truly wanted to raise kids wanted them. I'm talking about people who read child development books for fun and spend their free time volunteering to help children. It's such an accepted norm to just pop out kids that many people don't even think before having them. Even worse when it's an accident.

Honestly they don't even stay young and cute for very long, most of a human's life is spent as an adult. However people always gush about the infancy to childhood phase but often lose steam once their child becomes an adolescent. If I ever have a kid it'll be through fostering or adoption.
