There was a site years back that probably doesn't exist anymore that had all the individual scenes of every endless 8 episode split up and every time you visited it, it would playback a "new original" endless 8 episode by combining them at random. Like, it still followed the same episode structure but each scene was from a random episode's version of that scene

there were hundreds of thouands of possible combinations iirc

the level is compact and just a lot of fun to move around in overall. So it makes sense that the best star is the one where you get to do a nice clean loop of the level picking up coins

It looks pretty identical to me so I dunno if you're referring to a specific part or what. but if I had to guess the concept that you're probably missing is that the game is not constantly acting on all input. if you pause to switch items, it doesn't matter if you're holding left or right or jump or etc etc because the game is pausing. if you're going through a screen transition you can press whatever buttons you want to control the other games, knowing that it will have no impact on the game currently changing screens. that sort of thing.

it's a clever way to set things up but in some sense cheapens the concept a bit, at least imo

it makes sense to not have the story itself ending or whatever there because yeah like you said there some memory issues going on. But in terms of like, story-feel, emotional content, the way you as a viewer experience it, it's definitely a little strange to have the "biggest" episode that early. Not going to try to say one order in particular is better than the other since I think they both have good and bad parts, but at the very least I'm sure a certain amount of planning went into putting those episodes last

I really don't buy this. if you watch it in broadcast order it puts the climax at the end, if you watch it in chronological it puts the climax weirdly in the middle and then you get a bunch of slice of life

a ton of their moves have different properties, knockback angles, strengths, etc. like, more than you can really summarize concisely. the key points (imo) though are:

fox's down-b knocks away, falco's knocks straight up
fox's dair is a multihit drill kick with little knockback, falco's is a single hit powerful spike
fox's up-b and side-b go way further

just watch a bit of footage of high level players playing them and you'll see the difference pretty quickly I suspect.

oh, yeah, the swimming feels pretty bad. surface somewhat but it's especially bad underwater (there's an underwater red coins mission in one of the levels that really really sucks)

fortunately the game doesn't really make you swim that much, even for a water themed game

sunshine actually has a ton of really great quick movement tech, but it's all either hard to do or high APM or a bit of a "secret"

If you want the basics of going fast, (spoilered in case you want to find it out yourself, I dunno) try spraying water on the ground and then diving onto it (run and press B or press B midair) while it's still wet

it's not like every infinite combo in MtG gets banned, there are tons and tons of them that were/are legal in a variety of formats. I've even madde a deck in arena that had one before

if any of it gets banned it would be either because it's too fast or too uninteractable. a slow clunky fragile infinite combo will almost certainly never get banned

Well, that particular screenshot definitely had a decent amount of luck involved. Then again, it's also important to have the right situational awareness to capitalize and maximize further on that luck (I had 5 upgraded holograms).

But in general I guess I have 2 big sections of advice for just having more successful runs in general:

1) The in-combat part. Learn what enemies do. Many enemies have fully scripted patterns. Many others have heavily RNG weighted patterns and you can roughly predict what they'll do even if you don't know exactly. And then play appropriately to maximize success and minimize health lost against each enemy. And this depends on your deck, too; a deck that can block well and dish out slow consistent damage might want to do that against an enemy like the act2 plant since it will likely get you though unharmed. But against the act3 orb walker, which gets stronger every turn, you might want to give up some early block to just try and win quickly before the fight gets totally out of control.

2) The out-of-combat part. Figure out what goal you are working toward with your deck and pick the cards/routes/purchases/etc that best point toward this goal. And your goal can't be something nebulous like "I want to win lol" because that won't help at all. If you're stuck I recommend this as a starting point:

act 1 - goal is to fight as many elites as you can without dying while making sure you have a good matchup against the a1 boss. This often means taking some early frontloaded damage cards because every elite is a 1/3 chance of being gremlin nob who will absolutely body you otherwise

act 2 - goal is to transition into cards that do more than just have high damage or block numbers on them. you should have a rare and a handful of relics by now to help give you an idea for synergies to look for. you basically want to be as greedy looking for synergies as you can afford to be without getting destroyed by the powerful A2 elites

act 3 - goal is to assemble a powerful engine of some sort, whether an infinite combo, a strong synergy, an endlessly scaling card like demon form, etc, and then make sure you have enough support for it to deploy it in boss fights and win. this might even mean intentionally avoiding elites if you feel like you're good enough for the boss already

act 4 - goal is to have specific answers to specific guaranteed scary moments (elites turn 2, heart turn 3&4) along with a deck that can scale into a lot of damage.

obviously that's not all set in stone but it's a good general guideline of what you want to be doing at different parts of the game and can help you make macro level decisions. It also explains why watcher is so good: wrath stance is so immensely powerful that you can achieve the act 1 and 2 goals here with very little effort (compared to other characters), letting you be extremely greedy in your preparation for act3

This damn game, twice tonight got to the end of the 3rd act, had the end boss under 100 health both times, and the game is like "lol here's 3 hands with no block cards GL" and I get murdered.

try one or more of:

1) making a smaller deck
2) having more card draw
3) killing the boss faster

I had a floor 1 jaw worm as the silent once where I took 55 damage because that went on for like 8 or 9 rounds and I'd gotten a completely useless grand finale from the whale bonus. I won but died two floors later. By far the worst run i've ever had.

try swapping boss relic, I find it a lot of fun on defect since it gives you more leeway to take cool cards early if you get an extra energy and even if you don't it's not liek your starting relic was that good in the first place

yeah I've seen a lot of stuff recently about bugs (though mostly various types of worms or grubs or etc than crickets) that seem like they could work pretty well if only it was possible to convince anyone to actually eat bug burgers
