Hmm, not sure if I really had problems, though I listened to the JP voices. You can turn down the SFX volume separately if that's what's bothering you.

It's the English dub, yeah. Ryuji and Yusuke are very low compared to the rest, whereas Makoto's lines are one step higher than everyone else. Ryuji even has parts where his mumbling lines are impossible to hear. I messed with the music and SFX volume a bit, but that doesn't fix the inherent uneven sound mixing for the cast amongst themselves unfortunately.

Product of recording in COVID? Or is this just a bad mix job?

I think I would only play one if i was gonna go that way. Probably Q2 because it has the Phantom Thieves, unless there's strong opinion that Q1 is leagues better for whatever reason.

first impressions: it's weird how these vita character models are more detailed than the ps4 ones. also, i only just beat the main game today but seeing the whole group again chatting has me with a dumb grin on my face already

Oh, huh. Sojiro references Kasumi's death at the very start of the game. He talks about an accident a few days before Joker's arrival in April where a fifteen year old girl dies.

I wish all the various team combinations had some sort of animation, but I can understand why that wasn't done. Yoshizawa/Akeci would have been super cool tho, or if either of them had one more with another team member.

Additional random thoughts as I install the dancing games on my Vita.

• Loved Yoshizawa and Dr. Maruki
• Love the crazy showtime attacks. Wish there were more.
• Akechi was great, especially towards the end.
• I think overall the cast is stronger than 4's and definitely 3's. They all had compelling and nuanced approaches to development--I think especially thanks to the last portion of the game.
• Yoshizawa > Akechi > Haru > Yusuke > Makoto > Morgana > Ann > Futaba > Ryuji (all good though, whereas I've always been kinda meh on Chie and Kanji)
• My final team was MC, Haru, Yoshizawa, Akechi. Haru and Yoshizawa were crit machines lol
• The plot managed to surprise me with some of its twists. I have some problems with the Shido stuff at the end but overall still a great time.
• Elizabeth > Lavenza > Margaret > Twins
• The only S. Links I did not finish are the twins (ugh fusion tasks), Arcade kid, and the politician.
• Non-party confidant ranking (off the top of my head): Takemi > Sojiro > Kawakami > Maruki > Hifumi > Iwai > Mifune > Ohya > Mishima (not counting Nijima and Igor bc they just track the plot)
• can't rank twins, Shinya, or Tora cuz I didn't complete them
• The Confidants were all a step above this time. 3 and 4 have some very forgettable ones but all of the ones in 5 are memorable somehow.

Make sure you watch the secret ending for P5 also because it hints at Akechi maybe surviving.

Also Strikers takes place like 6 months after the original game ends.

edit: actually maybe I'm getting the P5 ending mixed up with the true ending for Royal

As for the latter, I think it's just that the government knows who the Phantom Thieves are and are keeping an eye on them, which doesn't sit right with them, so they decide to escape the surveillance.

Oh duh. Just looked up the original ending. That was much simpler but I think it makes sense they'd drive him home.

This last arc is pretty strong tbh, might throw p5r ahead of 4golden for me. I still think i like 4's countryside setting a lot more and those two back to back exposition dumps in 5 were pretty bad, but overall 5 might edge it out.

Of course, this is with extreme recency bias. Haven't even beaten the game yet.
I also forgot that they made dancing games for 3 and 5 that I'll have to dust off my vita for. It should be a nice chiller pace of gaming between Royal and Strikers.

Bummed neither has Yoshizawa tho
