As terrible as Beyonce's music is, she at least has talent. This is a pretty aggressively awful post. Kpop got big internationally because Korea has a very small domestic music market. They actively decided to sell to the world as a whole to counter that. Japan, however, has the second largest music market in the world after the US. They can pretty much sustain by only selling to that domestic market. They've been pretty resistant, until recently, put major artists on streaming services as well. Shame because Japanese pop is much more interesting than Korean imo --- |
