I hate flies more even though mosquitoes are more dangerous.

Flies are sinister, they will actively taunt and aggravate you and some are far to spry to actually swat.

While mosquitoes actually bite and carry disease, they are far stupider and I see them bumping into walls all the time. They are super easy to squish.

I have been playing through Genma Onimusha but it's so damn hard that I have to keep coming back to it. I'm finally at the point where I can go to hell and fight the demons to level up but the in-game monsters are tough and I keep getting smoked.

Onimusha is kind of the original Dark Souls when you think about how leveling up works. Guess I just need to get gud.

Again, I somewhat agree. Wanting beyond our own existence is what paved the way for modern medicine, science, art and technology. It's what pulled us out of the dark ages.

That's also what makes living as a human so full of strife and trials. We simply can't ignore our urges and live our lives to only survive. It's the reason that we even entertain ideas of higher powers such as religion and spirituality.

To be human is to struggle to find a balance. Constantly.

I would argue that one does not actually need to live. It's not like humans are neccesary. A worm is more worthwhile of an existence when you think about it. Worms are good.

You do have a point. It's very egotistical to think that humans need to be here. We have no more right to exist than the dinosaurs did. However self-preservation is an instinct and that has to come from somewhere.

Worms lack an ego and survive on instinct alone. That to me equates to a pure existence. Plus they are good for the Earth.

Living beyond your means and having unrealistic desires also goes against instinct and actually can be detrimental to one's own survival.

I think that's what the Buddha aimed to highlight.

I have. My old roommate claimed to be a Buddhist. He was not very materialistic and owned little possessions but he was also very selfish and would throw hissyfit tantrums and break things around the house.

No, but I don't really care for games like Monster Hunter, Xenoblades or Kingdom Hearts either even though they are action RPGs, technically (Dark Souls either for that matter).

It can be done right though. I don't mind the turn-based combat in Darkest Dungeon and I actually think that it was done well in Final Fantasy 7 and Chrono Trigger.

I'm old school so mostly I'm referring to classic RPGs and even games like Final Fantasy X.

I think Square realized that tapping X doesn't equal compelling gameplay so they are actually putting in the effort these days.

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is still the best Kirby game ever made imo.

I have to admit that ability fusing was the best idea Hal Laboratories ever had for Kirby.

I don't know why they didn't keep this as something Kirby could do. It's sorely missed in his later games.

JRPGs. I can't stand the slow burn story unfolding. I feel like all the tropes are the same and turn-based combat is a vestige of early PC gaming. I hate grinding and random encounters is the laziest way a game developer can still get away with padding a game in 2021.

I also don't care for sports games. I just don't care unless they are doing something that makes it less grounded in reality (NFL Blitz, Mario Tennis)

FPS games are mostly all the same I do like how Doom has made effort to break from the stale mold but shooting things that aren't monsters or vampires or zombies or dinosaurs is some lame theming. I tolerate the people that play FPS games online even less.

I have no beef with god sims or RTS games, I just don't have the focus for playing those types of games.
