Mainly looking at 2022 Tucson, 2021 Rogue, and 2021 Forester. Test drove a rental 2020 CX-5 GT on a recent vacation and was extremely disappointed with the tech inside when I got past its good looks. My options are limited because I want the latest driver assistance tech. At the end of the day, I don't want to pay anything out the door that I'm not legally required to (i.e. NY DMV, first month, etc). --- This space for rent |

A few Amazon gift cards and an extra stick of RAM later and I'm mostly happy. I did not expect this handle all of my anime and video post-processing as well as it is. It also supports IOMMU if I want to dare try virtualization and pass-thru. I've used old hardware for way too long that I had unreasonable assumptions of what is currently good beyond avoiding Celeron/Pentium/Athlon. I'm not thrilled that the temp lacks USB-C and delays my monitor setup plans, but I could use this for a year if I needed to. Hopefully the laptop I've been waiting for is only a few weeks away. Old: Dell Inspiron 7520, Core i7 3632QM, 8GB DDR3, 128GB SSD mSATA, 500GB HDD, 1080p matte, Radeon 7730M Temp: Acer Aspire 5 Slim, Ryzen 3 3200U, 8GB DDR4, 128GB SSD NVMe, 500GB HDD, 1080p matte IPS, Radeon Vega 3 Coming soon?: Dell XPS 15 9510, Core i7 11375H/11800H, 8/16GB DDR4, 256GB SSD NVMe, 1080p matte IPS, RTX 3050/3050ti As much as I want to wait longer for DDR5 and PCIe 5.0, I had to draw the line. It's honestly not a good time to buy a laptop because of all the uncertainty regarding global supplies and the trajectory of both Intel and AMD. Intel's Alder Lake multi-chip setup could be messy to support and AMD isn't giving much clarity on when TB3/USB4 laptops are coming (hint: not this year). Gonna be very upset if the XPS 15 switches to AMD with no Intel model. All I want is TB4, an RTX GPU, and a Dell support subscription. Why are these things so hard to have? If Nvidia didn't cripple the GTX 1650's decoder, I would've upgraded years ago. /rant --- This space for rent |
