"Let's have some dessert, too," you say. "This Hogsback Stout brownie sounds lovely. Salted caramel dulce de leche, mascarpone whipped cream, and even some more smoked hazelnuts sprinkled on top."

"Yes, let's have a couple of those," Arella says.

"Right away," you say.

Your waitress passes by and you flag her down to order two brownies.

"Right away," she says as she takes back the empty platters.

The brownies arrive surprisingly quickly, and each one is rather hardy.

"Do you want to share one?" Arella asks Raven.

"Sure," Raven says with a shrug.

Raven and Arella split one while you eat the other. The caramel and cream go very well with the fudge, but it is also so rich that it's proving difficult to have on your own.

Well, the fix for the table was simpler than I expected. Not nearly as much undone progress as I thought there'd be. Since it was upside down at the time, the washers were down low and easy to hold in place after I'd made the correction.

"I can pay for refills," you say. "If we're to celebrate, we shouldn't hold back."

"Well, alright," Arella says.

She takes the toothpick out and eats the olive off it, then takes another sip of martini before going back for more hazelnuts.

The meat and cheese platter is next out, and there are even grapes, slices of artisan bread, and a cup of Dijon mustard for dipping. You enjoy taking meat, cheese and bread for a tiny hand sandwich, dipping it in the Dijon and washing it down with the cider. Raven and Arella have the meat on its own for the salt and fat content to contrast with the juice flavors.

The ribs show up around the time the three of you have gotten halfway through the appetizers. Arella is also running low on her martini.

"Could we get a refill?" you ask, motioning to Arella.

"Of course," the waitress says. "And I'll bring a refill for you two, as well."

"Oh, thank you," you say before she heads off again.

Arella peels a rib off the rack and carefully holds it in her fingers while she digs in. You do the same, while also enjoying some of the onions and peppers that came with them.

The second round of drinks arrives, and you thank the waitress again. You wash down ribs with what's left of your first glass, and move on to the second.

Arella really chows down compared to you and Raven. She takes the seventh of seven ribs, so that she has three while you and Raven each have two. You make up for your appetite by having more of the meat, cheese and bread.

"I'll go with a glass of the Tilikum Tropic Thunder," you say.

"I'll have a bottle of the cider," Raven says.

"Do you want Hopped Apple, Pineapple Passion or Pear Rhubarb?" the waitress asks.

"Umm, Hopped Apple," Raven says.

"Okay," the waitress says. "And you, miss?"

"I'll have a Timberline vodka martini," Arella says.

"Are you old enough, miss?" the waitress asks.

"Yes, I am," Arella says with a little laugh. "I'm her mother."

"That she is," Raven says.

"I'm still going to need some ID," the waitress says. "It's just restaurant policy."

"I'm not sure if I should be flattered or upset," Arella chuckles.

To your and Raven's surprise, Arella actually brings out an ID card. The waitress takes it and inspects it.

"Well, alright," the waitress shrugs. "A Tilikum Tropic Thunder, a bottle of Otto's Cider, and a Timberline vodka martini. Those will be out first, along with the smoked hazelnuts."

"Thank you," you say before the waitress goes back to the kitchen.

"I'm a little surprised," Raven says to Arella. "I didn't think you'd have a drink that's actually a drink. And that you still had a photo ID."

"Well, while I left Earth for Azarath, I still had it locked away," Arella says. "And obviously, I brought it with me just in case."

"But surely it expired a long time ago," you say.

"And had a picture of how you looked before you had me," Raven adds.

"Well, that much I changed myself," Arella says with a wink.

"Well, I'm mostly surprised because Azaroth isn't really a place where you drink," Raven says.

"True, wine is only ceremonial," Arella says. "But this is my going-away dinner, so I should have something to celebrate."

"Well good for you, Ms. Arella," you say.

"Rorek, you don't need to be so formal," Arella says. "We're going to be family. You can leave out 'Miss.'"

"Well, if you say so, Arella," you say, feeling awkward about it.

The waitress returns a few minutes later with your drinks, and you have your glass of deep red fruit cider, Raven has her bottle of pale gold cider, and Arella has her martini glass filled with the clear vodka, with a green olive skewered on a plastic toothpick. She even has the hazelnuts at the same time.

"Thank you," you say again.

You three each take a sip as the waitress heads to another table. You each seem to like the drinks you have. You definitely see the appeal of this Tilikum Tropic Thunder. That's a rather long name for the passion fruit and... Blueberry? Sweet, tart, rich, and because it is a cider, it has plenty of bubbles.

Arella and Raven snack on the hazelnuts and wash them down with a couple sips at a time.

"Do they give free refills here?" Arella asks.

"I'm not sure," you say. "I didn't see anything on the menu about it."

"Then I'll just have to pace myself," Arella says.

The braised ribs, with its Tillamook cheddar, caramelized onions and Mama Lil's pickled peppers, sound very good.

"I'm considering the Short Rib Baker," you say. "We could split it if anyone wants."

"Can we also get some of these smoked hazelnuts?" Arella asks. "They sound really nice."

"Of course," you say.

"And," Raven speaks up, "this 'artisan cheese and cured meats' platter? As a nice side dish for everyone."

"Sure," you say. "Sounds like a great bar meal."

A waitress walks over a moment later and asks your order, which you give.

"And what about drinks?" she asks. "We do have cider in 12 ounce bottles, kombucha in 16 ounce cans, or a glass of 12 Bridge Ciderworks' Tilikum Tropic Thunder."

"You could go with shorts," you say. "It's still hot out and it might be warm in the bar."

"Are you sure you're not just saying that because you want to see me in shorts?" she smirks.

"No, I'm saying it because of how it's hot out," you say. "That's just the silver lining."

Raven chuckles while looking at her selection.

"I might go with shorts after all," Raven says. "I feel more like wearing short sleeves right now, anyway. I'll get dressed and let my mom know we'll keep it casual."

"Okay," you say. "See you in a few minutes."

Raven closes the adjoining door, you watch television while you wait. They have highlights of the baseball game, and you get to see how the Boston Crabs got so many runs. They ate up the Timber's pitcher tonight with some real moneyball play.

You hear the door in Raven's room open and close, so she's done dressing. You put your shoes back on while you wait for her to return.

As the highlights get to where your were watching, there's a knock on your room's door. You get up and answer it, and of course Raven and Arella are there. Raven's wearing her denim shorts and blue tank-top while Arella is in her "mom jeans" and V-neck. She hasn't worn that one often, and you're surprised to see the V goes so deep.

"So," you say, again trying not to stare, "to the Blue Ox then?"

You turn off your television before leading the way from room to bar. You're apparently hitting the dinner rush as it is fairly crowded. You manage to find a table in the corner and have the ladies sit together facing the corner so that you're looking out at everything else.

You already have menus waiting on the table, so you take a look.

"Well, we might as well exit the pool, too," you say. "We cooled off, and there isn't much else to do, really."

You and Raven go to the steps and walk out of the pool. You three follow Arella but you work to keep your eyes above her butt. Raven clings close to you, perhaps sensing you were glancing and wanting to keep your focus on her.

Arella goes to her room while you and Raven go to yours. With a bathroom available for everyone, you rinse off in yours at the same time Raven rinses in hers.

When you're done, you dress casually, as the Blue Ox Bar isn't exactly a formal restaurant.

"Rorek," Raven says as she slowly opens the adjoining door.

"Yes?" you ask as you go to the door.

Raven is there in black bra and underwear, holding up some things on hangers.

"What should I wear?" she asks. "I know it's just a bar, but we're also seeing my mom off back to Azarath so it's a nice night."

"True," you say. "I might want to upgrade my clothes, then. At least to better jeans."

"I was thinking maybe a T-shirt dress was okay, but maybe that's too formal?"

"So what's left on our road trip?" you ask. "Wasn't there somewhere out here in Oregon you wanted to see."

"Really?" you say.

"Yeah," she says. "We've been gone long enough, I don't mind getting back quickly. We can start on the search for real estate. Both for your restaurant, and your home."

"That sounds great," you say. "We still have to return the rental car, and then we'll continue on Shadowfax through California. We should be back in Jump City... Maybe this time next week."

"Sweet," Raven smiles.

You smile, too, while still floating along. Arella finishes her casual lap and heads for the steps to climb back out.

"Done already?" Raven asks.

"Well, I have to use the restroom..." Arella says sheepishly.

"Oh," Raven says with a chuckle. "Sorry."

"I suppose so," you chuckle.

"She was kinda cute, though," Raven says.

"Who was?"

"Jinx," she says. "She's always so bratty and stuff, her being on the demure side with you was different."

"Oh?" you say with a smirk. "First you admit Jinx is your friend, and now you're saying she's cute."

Raven flings water over herself to hit you in the chest and you chuckle.

"I'll stop teasing," you say. "But I think you're on to something. Not that I think Jinx is bratty, but she did go from bold to bashful pretty quickly."

"Yeah," Raven chuckles. "She clearly underestimated you."

"Did you underestimate me?" you ask. "Before you first saw."

"Not really," she says. "It's right around where I figured it'd be."

"Oh, well thank you."

"You're welcome."

Arella swims by you, going the other way now as to complete the lap. Then you realize you're drifting close to the end of the pool, so you and Raven sit up and turn around to go the other way.

"We have our run of the place, so let's go to the main pool," you say.

You take a few steps then jump in with a cannonball! You go fairly deep, and come up to see Raven and Arella giggling from the splash you made.

"Not bad," Raven says as she simply levitates herself down into the water.

"It was a good splash," Arella says as she walks down the steps.

Arella casually swims behind you as you and Raven float on your backs and look up at the sky. You're side by side in the same direction, holding hands as you enjoy the water cooling you off. It's quiet as you two slowly drift towards the far side.

"It's obvious that I didn't ask you about this," you say. "And you haven't said anything about it, obviously. I guess I'm just curious."

"You're talking about last night, right?" she asks.

"Yes."

It's quiet again for a few more seconds.

"It was fun, actually," Raven says.

"Really?" you say in surprise.

"Well, yeah," Raven says, blushing a little. "You were a bit forward about it, but... I guess it being with friends was alright."

"So you're admitting Jinx is your friend?" you smirk.

"Shut up," she chuckles. "I will say, I would not have guessed Argent would be so forward, though."

"Yes, quite the surprise," you say. "She seemed to take a liking to you."

"And you," Raven says. "How long did she think Jinx and I were going to be in the bathroom after?"

"You make that sound more like an insult to me than to her," you say.

Raven giggles quite a bit.

"Sorry," she manages to say. "And I probably shouldn't be saying this with my mother 10 feet away, but I just realized something."

"What's that?"

"Well, Argent and I... How to put it? We both... had our mouths full, I guess you could say. Jinx didn't, not even for a second."

"Huh, I didn't think about that until now. Is that a problem?"

"Well, maybe it's a little unfair," she says. "I'm just not sure to who. How do you feel about it?"

"My shower is open if you want to rinse off first," you say to Raven. "I'll wait until after to take my own rinse."

"Oh, thank you," Raven says.

"I'll go get my swimsuit and then rinse off in here, then," Arella says.

"Okay," Raven says.

Arella leaves 2N, you go with Raven to 2M and wait on the bed as she goes to the bathroom. After just a few minutes, you can hear through the wall that Arella has returned to 2N.

Raven is of course done with her rinse-off first. She walks out in her white one piece and you smile looking her up and down. She smirks back.

"Just take your turn," she says. "I'll check on mom."

You grab your black swim trunks, go into the bathroom and have your rinse-off. You walk out and knock on the adjoining door. Raven opens, you walk in and see Arella is wearing the floral two piece. You lead the way to the pool area and are lucky enough to find it empty.

"We can definitely have another dip in the pool," you say. "We can go before dinner. If we go in between 2 and 3, I think it'll be less crowded."

"Alright," Arella says. "Though, we don't have to wait that long, do we? I know we just ate, but we only have to wait 30 minutes."

"Sure," you say. "Perhaps 1:30, then?"

"That'll be fine," she smiles.

Arella sits on the other bed and you watch more of the baseball game.

In the time you were looking away, the Timber has ended up with two outs, but Enoch has advanced to third base.

"Harvey Papaliolios might be the Timber's last chance," the second commentator says. "But with his 400 batting average, he might be their best chance."

"Cass winds up," the first commentator says. "The pitch..."

"Contact!" the second commentator says! "Papaliolios gets Enoch home and gets himself a double!"

"The score is now 10 to 6, but that's still a long way to go," the first commentator says. "Next up is Brose Callahan, a left handed batter."

"Cass has a good track record against lefties," the second commentator says. "And with the lead and two outs, he's got no reason to worry."

Cass winds up, pitches, and though it's a little lower, it's still called a strike. The home crowd fans are a little upset but Callahan shrugs it off. Cass pitches again, Callahan swings at it though it's low, and it goes foul for another strike.

"This could be it," the second commentator says.

Cass pitches again, right down the middle, and Callahan hits it! It goes off the ground and past the pitcher's mound, but the short stop scoops it! He slings it to first, and it gets there before Callahan!

"Callahan is out at first and that's the game!" the first commentator says. "The Boston Crabs win big in Portland!"

"Portland really worked hard in the bottom here," the second commentator says. "They cut the lead down but it wasn't enough."

"Well, that's over," Raven says. "How about we rinse off before going to the pool?"

"Yes, that'd be good," you say.

"We could go to the Blue Ox Bar," you say. "They had a good menu, and it'd be a more mature atmosphere, something more adult."

"A little too adult for us, I think," Raven says.

"It's alright," you say. "I was in there with father and Sixth the other day, they just won't serve us alcohol."

"Okay," she chuckles. "But that'll be dinner time. What're we supposed to do until then? And again, don't say the pool."

"But is there really much else to do?" you say.

"Yes," she says. "And even if there wasn't, we can't go swimming right now, we just ate."

"True," you say. "So what will we do for another half an hour?"

You wrap your arms around Raven's waist and she has an "Oh you" smile.

"I think we should have a rule to wait a half hour on that, too," she says.

"Well no we really don't have anything else to do," you say, making her laugh.

"How about baseball?" she says. "That game we were watching might still be on."

"Oh," you say. "Maybe."

You get the television remote, turn it on and see the Boston Crabs and Portland Timber are in fact still playing, and it's the bottom of the ninth! You sit down and look for the score.

"Whoa!" you say. "Boston scored eight more since the third!"

"Ouch," Raven says.

Leading 10 to 5, Boston just has to keep Portland at this and they'll win the game!

"Boston's Chaz Cass has been strong today," the second commentator says. "He's at 80 pitches with 15 strike outs today, and obviously from the score, not the easiest to hit off."

"And he just needs three more outs to finish this off," the first commentator says. "Brennan Enoch is up for the Timber, but he doesn't seem to be feeling the pressure."

"You've gotta be able to keep a level head, even in a bad situation," the second commentator says.

"Here's the wind-up," the first commentator says. "And the pitch."

"Contact!" the second commentator says as Enoch hits it!

Enoch runs as fast as he can, the ball gets past the center fielder but still lands in the diamond.

"Barnes has it," the first commentator says as the fielder scoops it. "He throws it to second!"

Enoch is reaching second just as it's getting there, and slides...

"Safe!" the second commentator says as the umpire calls it!

"That was a close one," you say.

There's a knock at the door and Raven answers it, to let Arella in.

"Hopefully you aren't in a rush to get back to Azarath," Raven says. "Rorek was hoping to treat you to one more meal here."

"Really?" Arella says. "But the two of you have already done so much for me."

"We can still do something for you," you say. "It'll just be a simple dinner in the Blue Ox Bar."

"Well, alright," she says. "But can we take one more swim, then? It'll be a long time before I get to wear a swimsuit again."

You try not to smirk at Raven but your mouth can't help but curl at the corner.

"Efficiency."

"Oh?" Cyborg asks. "How so?"

"A little something my grandfather figured out," you say. "You lower electrical resistance just a touch so that the energy flows faster, but you make sure to build the material's durability so it doesn't wear out."

"Is that even possible?"

"Again, it's what my family's done for generations," you smirk. "I'll show you how."

Everyone gets a bottle of the root beer and you clink bottles in a toast before popping off the caps.

The pizzas arrive shortly after, the waitress is surprised to see Cyborg, and you thank her as she sets the pizzas down.

You take a slice of the Diablo first, and you can taste the chili already. It is great stuff, and the heat kicks in right away.

"Very good," you say as you nod. "Very good."

Cyborg also tries the Diablo, and he also takes a liking to it. You two eat more of that than the ladies do. After you've had your fill, there are plenty of slices left, and you get boxes for them.

"How about you take these home to the Titans?" you tell Cyborg. "I'm sure they'll enjoy those, and the mushroom works for Beast Boy since he's vegetarian."

"Good idea," Cyborg says.

You six exit, with Cyborg holding onto the pizza boxes. You walk back towards the hotel, and see Cyborg parked a portion of the T-Ship nearby.

"The T-Ship comes apart, hm?" you say.

"Yep," he says. "For if we need to split up on a search, chase, or just travel separately like this."

Cyborg stores the pizzas in the ship then continues with you to the hotel. He goes around the back to where the T-Copter is parked, and you go inside to fetch your enchantment material.

"Alright," you say as you walk up to the copter. "I should have what I need."

"Well the copter's almost ready as it is," Cyborg says. "Just needed to replace old wiring."

"Well then I can help the new wiring," you say.

You climb into the cab, look under the dash and see the open panel.

"Just be careful now," Cyborg says.

"Don't worry," you say. "I understand how to treat vehicles with care. And this won't be too much, I'll be in and out and the ladies can get on their way back up north."

You take the powdered essence of fortitude, and just take a pinch. With being upside-down like this, it makes the sprinkling trickier. You carefully put your fingers between wires, start sprinkling slowly, and go through all you had.

"Udari Afari," you recite as you use mana to spark the powder.

"Whoa," Cyborg says.

"Don't worry," you say. "It's non-flammable sparks."

You then bring out the tiny spray bottle full of the resistence reducer, Basilisk saliva. You give just a couple spritz and the dark green gleam lets you know it took.

"Start 'er up," you say.

Cyborg presses the ignition button, the T-Copter starts up, and he looks at the dashboard.

"Well, well," he says. "The read-out looks great, actually."

"Didn't I tell you it'd be fine?" you say. "The enchantment will last as long as the wires last."

"Then remind me to check in after a year, or 30 thousand miles," Cyborg says with a smile.

Jinx and Argent return, each carrying a little gift bag.

"Where'd you get those?" you ask.

"And what did you need them for?" Cyborg asks.

"Rorek's sisters made us some clothes last night," Argent says.

"The gift bags were just Raven using alchemy on plastic bags," Jinx says.

"Well she did a nice job," you say. "Color coordinated and everything."

"Is it working?" Argent asks as you and Cyborg exit the cab.

"Sure is," Cyborg says. "And with Rorek's magic based modifications, it should be running even smoother now."

"Sweet," Argent says.

Jinx and Argent get in the cab, with Argent piloting.

"See you around," Argent says.

You and Cyborg step way, way back as the rotors start up and get the copter off the ground. The copter heads north and all is going well, so you and Cyborg walk around to the front.

"I'll let the others know all went well," Cyborg says. "See you soon."

"See you soon," you repeat as Cyborg goes to his mini T-Ship.

The mini T-Ship takes off, you watch it head south, and then you go inside. You go back to the rooms and knock on 2N's door, and Raven answers.

"Where'd your mother run off to?" you ask.

"She went to her room to finish packing," Raven says. "She probably wants to return to Azarath and let us continue our road trip on our own."

"I see. I feel like we should do something special to see her off."

"Yeah? I think that'd be nice, actually. Just don't say 'pool.'"

"I'd never," you say, pretending to be offended.

You two chuckle, and you consider your options.

people are definitely too obsessed of taking traditional heroes, aka the ones who don't struggle with the hero part of their life, and making them into anti-heroes. anti-heroes work better in a world where there are traditional heroes to play off of and vice-versa. and the PPG were definitely more the traditional kind.

So, uh... I just got back from a trip to the store, and there was a freaking FROG clinging to the outside of my screen door. I've... never seen a wild frog in my life. Certainly not so far away from a body of water, anyway. As long as it eats some of the bugs buzzing around the porch, It's welcome to stay.

Over an hour later, and the frog is still hunkered down in the same spot.

"I'm thinking of ordering a large Diablo," you say. "Is that alright with everyone?"

"That does sound good," Jinx says. "Can we also have this wood fired mushroom, too?"

"Sure," you say. "A large of each, that's more than enough for six people."

The waitress returns and serves a six pack of bottled soda, right in the cardboard packaging.

"Are you going to wait until your sixth person arrives or do you have an idea what you want?" she asks.

"We'll order now," you say. "We'd like one large Diablo and one large wood fired mushroom."

"Alright," she says. "I'll be back with those as they're ready."

"Thank you," you say.

A few minutes pass and Argent notices something out the window.

"Oh, there he is," Argent says.

You look over your shoulder and see Cyborg. You carefully get up and go to the door to get out and go around the green train car. He sees you before you can wave him over, and you lead him back to the caboose.

"Watch your step," you say as you get back in the caboose.

"And my head," Cyborg says as he ducks down a little more.

Jinx and Argent scoot over, Cyborg sits with them. You tell him about the pizza orders and he checks the menus for himself.

"Oooh, I like the Diablo," he says. "It'll be spicy!"

"That's what I'm thinking," you smirk.

"So how long will it take to fix the T-Copter?" Argent asks Cyborg.

"It shouldn't be too much," he says. "It was just the electrical system, right?"

"Right," Argent says.

"Mt. Hood Brewing Company, Portland. It's a restaurant with a train car, so just look for the green train car."

"Alright, sounds good," he says. "See you in a few minutes."

"See you then," Raven says.

Jinx hangs up and you shut off the television. You and the ladies head out from the room and go outside. You find your way down a path and find the green train car on the far west end of the mountain.

You walk inside the restaurant's main building and up to the greeter.

"Is there seating in the train car for six?" you ask. "We have a friend joining us in a little bit."

"Yes, in the caboose," she says. "I'll have someone show you the way."

"Thank you," you say while she calls over a waitress.

The waitress grabs up six menus, you and the ladies follow her through the restaurant to a side door, and you walk out onto a wooden platform that takes you to the green train car and red caboose just behind it. You help the ladies carefully step inside the doorway first, watching for the raised door frame. Then you step inside and the waitress steps in to hand out the menus.

"Would you like to start with drinks?" she asks as you sit next to Raven with Jinx across from you.

You take a quick look at the non-alcoholic drink menu.

"How about a six pack of Crater Lake root beer for the table?" you ask.

"Six Crater Lake root beers it is," the waitress says. "I'll be right back with those."

"Thank you," you say as she leaves.

You look to the menu and remember you had some pizzas from here for the party. You really liked the pepperoni and the "Alpine," but you're interested in trying the Diablo.

A) Order a small Diablo
B) Order a medium Diablo
C) Order a large Diablo
