my hope is that they tear the GOP apart with infighting before 2024. Trump is a narcissist so I can't imagine him ever putting his ego aside to do what's best for the party, while at the same time DeSantis is trying to paint himself as the new Trump. So if DeSantis won't bend the knee, Trump is bound to turn on him, and then Trump's cult won't vote for him.

Basically Trump might put the final bullet in the GOP for us. :v

Back then, these punishments were considered more "fair" and "good". People see that as evil now because of things like individuality.

Yeah, it is why I'm in the band wagon of taking majority of the bible scriptures metaphorically instead of literally because it starts to make a bit more sense because it's down to different interpretations instead of one. Sometimes it's good not to study the bible so much because under scrutiny it falls as fast as a house of cards.

Yea, that's about where I stand too. A "by the letter" interpretation misses the mark. Spiritual works like that seem to be more suited for trying to understand the meaning/feeling behind it, not some sort of rubric/instruction manual for life. :v

It implies that "sin" is something that is beyond God's control tbh. Like it's something that humans have to get off of them to "fly" to heaven.

Which I think makes sense, but then you run into another problem, where we're explicitly told that nothing is outside of God's control. He's the one, omnipotent sovereign lord. That would mean that before Jesus God had no power over sin, which contradicts his omnipotence. :v The idea that God would have to become human himself in order to conquer sin puts a limit on the scope of his power.

Why would God need to have his own son die to fix our mistake? He created all these conditions himself. His hands weren't tied. It's like when people say Jesus was sent to save us from Hell. God is the one who created Hell in the first place... so Jesus is saving us from himself?

It's all very confusing if you try to think about it rationally. I get you're not supposed to though, that's why it's a matter of faith.

I just don't get how God is supposed to be all loving and forgiving while at the same time he's kept the curse he placed on women going since the beginning of time. When is he gonna forgive Eve for that? :v You'd think by now there would be at least one woman good enough for God to decide "I think that's enough, lemme take away the pains in childbirth."

Yea, I'm sure that's a part of it too. There's also the problem of the non-affirming churches calling all the affirming churches false. There's a ton of infighting. Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with people being religious. I try not to make general condemnations of it. :v
