I used the walkthroughs and stuff before joining in 2001-ish. My first username had a space in it and was words in the made-up space language I invented because I was a tween.

I joined CE in 9th grade to make friends and because I was procrastinating on a school paper that was supposed to be about a current event. The Internet was young enough back then that I could almost get my mom to believe I was on a news feed when she questioned me.

EDIT: HM:BTN is bae.

I was walking around with some people for work today going door-to-door and I spotted a four-leaf clover as I glanced down. I have a few tricks for searching for them, so I have pretty good luck at getting them when I put my mind to it, but it's more fun and much rarer to see one at random in a flash like that at normal walking speed.

Because I find them frequently, I give the clovers away when I find one with somebody. She got the bug in her eye within five minutes.

Busted-ass clover. >:(

Teens and twenty-somethings fomented dissent to enact massive societal change in the 1960s and 1970s = civics education in high school being disparaged

Teens and twenty-somethings fomented dissent to (sort of try to) enact tepid societal change in the 00s = college is dumb and bad. Go into the trades or certain mercantile, uncritical, cutthroat STEM fields and you'll tooooootally make loooooots of money.

The trades to have value, but this trades/STEM backlash is absolutely part of an anti-education campaign. The wealthy don't want to fix their own pipes or vents and therefore create false dichotomies of "trade" versus "humanities." For instance, lower class people are more likely to be welders, while a wealthier person is more likely to become a Master of Fine Arts with a concentration in Metal Sculpture.

Also, if everyone moves into the trades, their value will decrease, obviously. There should always be a balance between trades, STEM, humanities and their differences should be less worshipped --- they all have more overlapping applicability than absolute distinction.

EDIT: For full disclosure, I have a BA and master's in linguistics and am currently getting certified in HVAC to hedge my bets in the next (or the next after that) once-in-a-lifetime recession.

I asked when I was in undergrad and was told that colleges specialize and that universities are homes to several colleges. So in the US, for instance, I went to a place that had a College of Arts and Humanities and a Business School and Journalism College all at the same University. But I use "college" and "university" pretty interchangeably in casual speech.

For my answer: 8+: 1 year parallel enrollment with community college in high school, 4 undergrad, 2 grad, 1+ (ongoing) for a technical certification now.

I want to update a lifting chart so that when I enter one date, the others will auto-populate. So when I enter, for instance June 2, on the first Wednesday, all the other dates will populate. My weights already auto populate and calculate.

Ideally, I'd be able to just enter the first Wednesday of the Monday (red) and have future duplicate Wednesdays populate (yellow) as well as filling in the blanks for the other days of that week (blue) and future dates (green).

Yeah, I said they had their claws in their sharpest natural state and have slightly more cohesive strategizing than natural cats, but no hyper-intelligence. They are domestic cats, per the title. They are allowed in the yard when they want, but sleep inside most nights and lovingly accept scritches from their owners.

No allies. Your outfit limitations are described in #9. Cats have no armor.

How many cats could you fight?

The cats are determined to harm you and will not scatter if one is killed. Other than loyalty to their mission and a slightly more cohesive attack strategy than real cats, they possess no extra intelligence or abilities than a typical, regular, average house cat. The cats are neither obese nor meager; they are between ages 4 and 9 years old. They all have all their claws in the sharpest natural state possible and have all their shots.

I don't think three cats would kill me, but I do think I could be overwhelmed by them and want to quit from stinging, minor blood loss and danger to my eyes.

If I'm asymptomatic, it's anyone's guess. Or maybe I never had it?

Which is it, you can't have both.
Which is exactly why you should be masking, distancing and getting the fucking vaccine. Because no one can know who is being an asymptomatic spreader in the absence of robust, mandatory, daily testing. And, even with that, vaccination would be the obvious next step to stop those asx spreaders.

What type of job is it? How long have you been there? Why are you quitting?

Bare minimum is two weeks notice and a respectful phrasing of the reason if it's anywhere you care about putting on your resume in the future.

If they're abusive, report them and just quit (though, ideally, inform some process or admin so that the other workers aren't stuck picking up your work through no fault of their own).

If it's a shit job but they're not abusive, two weeks is still a decent heads up and the mature thing to do.

I agree. I personally don't have any issues with needles; I'm not like "yeah, awesome, getting a shot!" but, you know, I'm basically find with the little prick. The first dose, I felt literally nothing. Entirely painless, fastest shot I'd ever had. Second dose, I did feel, but it was also more like a very cold poke than a piercing of skin. And then side effects about 48 hours later (day-after was totally fine, weirdly) that mimicked a mild flu or gnarly cold.

I have no proof of it either, but I also think needles are getting smaller and shorter for most things.

Needle-phobics need to literally buck the fuck up. Go to a doctor, have them hold your hand, lie down while they do it and cry all you need to, but it is wholly unacceptable to fail the Trolley Problem because of an irrational fear. This is 'letting a bus go over a cliff because there was a spider in the road' levels of not-needing-to-be-accepted.

At the vax megaclinic where I volunteered, there were at least ten people who came through my line deathly afraid of needles and got it anyway because it's simple and the right thing to do. There was special med tent for them to go so they wouldn't have to cry in public and so they'd have a cot to lie down in if they passed out. There were doctors stationed at four different parts of the facility for people to ask questions to and tens of volunteers on hand whose job it was to be a moral support assistant for the phobics. But there's no excuse for every single physically/medically capable person to not get their full course of vaccines every time.

i tried to get the vaccine a few days ago, when i went there the folks started asking me general questions and because i told them that i had covid before in march of this year they decided against vaccinating me. they told me to come back mid/late june to wait until it's been 3 months since i last recovered from covid
Unless you have a preexisting condition or got monoclonal antibody treatment, it's a logistics demand, not a health one. Some places without enough vaccines are telling people to wait 60 to 90 days after having COVID because their natural antibodies will provide some temporary, limited resistance for two or three months, and the priority is to vaccinate as many people as possible who have no type of antibodies presently. So, they're passing you up for someone who may be at slightly more risk.

Not honoring a scheduled appointment is preposterous, though; it's not like they could give that already-drawn vaccine to someone else if they're taking appointments to give it to specific numbers of people.

I've also heard that sometimes people who've had COVID have a rougher time with dose one than people who haven't. Still not as bad as COVID, but depending on the thought processes of your local health department, they may also be trying to do some preemptive (irresponsible) PR damage control; my local health department is trying to figure out how to do messaging to counter people who got the shot, felt crappy afterwards, and are now telling their friends not to get it because "you'll just feel sick anyhow."
