Oof, yeah, I actually went ahead and tried it out yesterday and it seemed enjoyable enough gameplay-wise ...but I haven't been able to log in since then.

I can deal with shards to a point, it's dependent on how viable it is to farm them outside of the gacha pool and how generous said pool is when dipping in.

The multiple server thing feels more iffy to me. 4-6 for regional/load issues? Understandable. 30+ and counting where progress *and* purchases are kept separate from one another? That's a red flag.

Hell, even the pre-registration rewards are "one server only ever" so hope you picked one you liked because starting over elsewhere will set you back by default.

The closest thing to Native & Meso American fantasy I can think of in an RPG is Shadowrun. And it's not even purely fantasy, whole lotta cyberpunk in there too.

Like, some of the biggest lore events in North & South America literally reshaped territories and borders over the course of 70+ years.

Admittedly, AFK Arena did have some fine lasses, but just like every other game I've dropped, no amount of pretty faces and jiggly bits will keep me around if the game its self starts annoying me.

Chasing power creep seems pointless when so many of these games have flavors of the month/week, and unless you're a whale, you'll still get stomped in PVP due to lackluster investment. Toss in the prevalence of F2P unit guides for difficult PVE content, and I just could never justify pulling for mere stat sticks.

Meanwhile waifus/husbandos are always appealing even when they fall out of meta or were dead on arrival. At worst, you might end up chasing alts in alternate outfits ...assuming the devs even remember your favorites exist... and at best, few things are more satisfying than learning how to destroy everything with your chosen harem.

On one hand, it sucks having to get 7 PVP wins a day (even if some fights can be done against bot teams). On the other hand, it's only 10 gems, so some days I just don't give a fuck.
