Looks like I'm gonna waste a ton of time whenever this finally gets localized. Still more waif stuff than I'd personally like, but that's to be expected with a game like this.

At least none of the characters look like literal children like in RF4.

Yeah I wasn't a fan of how young so many of them looked in 4, too. The cast in 5 looks so much better imo

To give OW the benefit of the doubt, some of these games can have really rough tutorials, even the good ones. I think it was A New Beginning that had an absurd tutorial that made me want to suffocate myself, despite loving the game overall.

I hope they dont go super plot heavy. The best thing about the soulbourne games is how integrated the lore is into it without getting in the way of the gameplay. Would hate this to be full of cutscenes and the like.

What did you think about Sekiro? I thought that was a good balance between the two styles.

So what exactly is wrong with Olive Town? I thought it doesn't release for a few more weeks?

I actually did another quick summary earlier this morning on here so I'll paste that lol

It came out in Japan and the fans there review bombed it and ransacked the team on social media so hard the producer deleted any photos of the game he had on his Twitter and his role in the game from his bio (note, I find this sort of thing shitty. Please don't do this to people, you guys). They've since put out a statement promising to work on updates to the game that'll fix a lot of the issues.

• Numerous amounts of bugs, lag (even in menus), and long loading times
• Really bland dialogue, though with XSEED handling the localization that probably won't apply to us
• No character portraits. Which isn't a problem in itself, but with the camera angles when you talk to people, you hardly ever see their face
• Removal of iconic festivals (Cooking, harvest, livestock contests) and many others just have a cutscene attached instead of gameplay, like with the egg hunt
• Tools are clunky to use

Among other things that are minor on their own but just add to each other. You auto-shave animals when you pet them, small inventory, makers are a pain in the ass, you have to water grass, cooking takes 30 minutes, the spawn rate for rocks, branches, etc. is too fast.

Overall the game still looks fun but not a day one buy, Trio of Towns competitor most of us were expecting it to be. The old producer is currently working on Rune Factory 5 and people think that's where most of attention and resources went, but who knows.

I heard it's actually better than previous Natsume attempts (which doesn't mean much :')). the premise sounds hilarious, at least. No one knows how to grow or eat anything but potatoes. They even feed the cows potatoes and they're like "HOLY CRAP" when you go out exploring and find other fruits/veges and feed cows grass

I'm coping with the Olive Town thing by replaying Trio of Towns and waiting for Rune Factory 5.

So far I'm on day 5 (~50 minutes into the game) and I'll tell you my impressions so far.

Thanks for your thoughts. it sounds interesting so far, and I don't really mind the seed thing, but that 6pm thing is a KILLER. That's so early!!

Its called Harvest Moon One World

The reason you didn't hear about it is modern Harvest Moon gamed don't get much hype. The original devs left to a new company and now make Story of Seasons. Those are still good. The modern ones with the Harvest Moon name tend to suck because they are now being made by other people who aren't as good

The people making them never changed, the company localizing them into English did and Natsume kept the old English title.

If you have something that runs it, absolutely. Definitely needs work but it's still a hell of a fun game.

I see the similarities for sure with the camera zooming done in the Pokemon trailer and with the graphical style that's pretty similar, but the BotW similarities ended there for me personally.

I think it was really fun. Not to where it lives up to its insane hype, but definitely not a bad game, and it has a really good soundtrack.

It has the Rick & Morty effect where I always feel hesitant to mention I like it because of its batshit fanbase, though lol.
