Ivany2008 07/10/21 8:13:27 PM #59 | Talas posted... I was creeped out when I found out the 18 year old at work had a crush on me, I'm old enough to be her dad. How do older guys actually make out/have sex with girls that young? You have literally nothing in common with them, she's mentally still a child.. how do you not find that kinda creepy or predatorial? I've had that. Literally had a coworker came up to me and said "you know I'm 18 right, winks". I just looked at her and said "you know that i'm not interested right?" I don't mind having a conversation with an 18 year old, but I sure as shit aint taking the chance. That said, there are 18/19 year olds that are mentally more intelligent than some 27 year olds. |
Topic | I really do understand the hate for landlords when you're a renter. But I don't |
Ivany2008 07/10/21 8:07:29 PM #11 | speaking as someone who has rented from 3 different locations, landlords for me are a bit useless. The ones I dealt with were never around when I needed them to be around, like if the ceiling fan suddenly stopped working, or I was having trouble with the dryer. Then there's the case of my little sister whose hot water wouldn't shut off in the tub, so they couldn't even shower in their own apartment without getting burned, very troublesome with a small child. What's worse is that most of the time little fixes that you should be able to do yourself your literally not allowed to do because of an agreement with the landlord. I now own my own semi-detached bungalow, which I love btw. If something breaks, I can fix it, or get someone to come in and fix it. But as for alternate solutions and I've been preaching this for the past few years ever since I discovered the Big Living in a Tiny House YouTube channel are Tiny Homes. Perfect for people just out of college who haven't quite settled down with a family, or those that just want a little independence free from landlords. There are some downsides, not all of them are hardwired into the city infrastructure and a lot of places still don't allow them, but if you have the option by all means, go right ahead. I honestly think my next place is going to be a tiny home, if I don't get married and have kids that is. |

Ivany2008 07/10/21 7:33:12 PM #43 | Eat More Beef posted... See, if you're hovering around 35, you have much different cultural touchstones than someone who is 18. and what does cultural touchstones have to do with making out or getting laid? I don't think I'd stop in the middle of a make out session because I really wanted to know her thoughts on the growing prices of housing and taxes in my area; or the crisis in the middle east. And if I'm actually trying to date someone, being physical is something that happens after I get to know them better. Cultural touchstones only matter if your trying to form some kind of relationship with the person. If your just looking to knock boots, it doesn't matter if she is a democrat, republican, or believes in a giant statue of Chuck Norris. Long as she's clean and legal that's all that really matters in that particular context. Now, would I go after an 18 year old? hell no. Too many incidents near my area with people getting arrested. 24 is bare minimum. |

Most of us own either a lab, husky, maltese or a shih' tzu. Occasionally you'll see other breeds. As for the question, I point to the last dog I listed. I love shih'tzus. Never had a problem with them, they are playful when they want to be, lazy every other time. Super easy to deal with, and mine happens to be a lap dog. |

It might be weird, but if its just sexual then I see nothing wrong with it. One of the longest relationships a friend of mine had was with a chick who was 19 when he met her, and he was 26. They dated for 4 years before she moved to Toronto. |

Ivany2008 07/10/21 1:48:25 PM #82 | Tyranthraxus posted... Artists get paid shit for purchases as well unless you purchase directly from them like from an official band website. yeah... its laughable how little they get paid. I read an article a few years ago that said that bands like Metallica during the peak of their popularity only got paid 10 grand from album sales. It sounds like a lot, but when you take into consideration they were selling 30+ million records/cds, that's less than .001 of a cent. In fact, interesting story, and this is something that everyone should watch, is the documentary on Backstreet Boys and N'Sync vs their former manager. Everyone knows how popular BSB and N'Sync were during the 90s, believe it or not, most of them were broke by the time their popularity started fading, all because their manager was pillaging all the profit. Hence why you have guys like Joey Fatone working Family Feud as an announcer. |

Topic | Matt Damon turned down a role in Avatar. Was offered 10% of earnings |
Ivany2008 07/10/21 3:59:56 AM #17 | The movie made 2.8 billion dollars, but there was no way he would have known that going in. While it is James Cameron, he hadn't directed anything noteworthy since 97 with Titanic. After that he switched to documentaries, so it was a toss up if his return to cinema would be a win or a loss. Obviously it was a massive success, partly because the movie was good, but also because they were massively pushing the changeover from dvd to blu-ray players and Avatar was going to be that "one movie you needed to see on blu-ray, to appreciate how good blu-ray was". That and a couple nature documentaries. He made the smart choice at the time. Lets not forget that while he would have gotten 280 million dollars from Avatar, it would have blocked up his schedule for every other movie he was filming. He did release about 10 films in a 3 year period. Might not be close to 280 million dollars, but with a net worth of 170 million dollars, it's not like he's suffering for money. |

Topic | Have you ever gotten written up at your work before? |
Ivany2008 07/10/21 12:58:33 AM #46 | too many times. I'll admit I was at fault for a couple of them, but there were other times that were just fucking stupid. Like being slow during the middle of a fucking blizzard bringing in carts. Another time a manager wrote me up... because I took my break 4 minutes before I was supposed to, despite both me and the other guy in my department agreeing that I should go on break now while it wasn't busy. The guy literally walked out to my car, knocked on my car window and started flipping out at me... during my break. The last time I got written up was because I posted a comment on a local forum letting people know of the safety changes at work because of covid, and that if they wanted to get stuff without being in the crowds to shop early in the morning, as we took off the limits to the amount of people allowed into work. Someone screenshotted it and sent it into a manager at work. Not even my manager, another manager wrote me up. Saying things like "I was working against the company, and making the company look bad, and that we had a limit and it was 800 people". 800.... in the middle of a fucking pandemic where most stores were only letting 70 people in at a time. I should have quit then and there, but it was only a couple weeks until I was going back to college so I shut my mouth and did nothing. This was the same stupid female manager that got pissed off at my coworker... for sitting down to tie his shoes, and for me for not stopping another coworker from going home when his scheduled shift was over, because the company decided to change the hours of his shift that day without telling him. I looked at her and said "not my problem". They tried to pull the same bullshit on me the day after and I told them I was going home, that I had been there for 8 hours already and I'm not staying for an extra 4 because you guys screwed the pooch. I hated working at that store. At any of the retail jobs I had. Between idiot bosses yelling at me for mundane things out of my control, to others getting promoted a week into their hire instead of me who worked there for 5 years. |

Topic | why do tanks think supports can keep them up infinitely in Overwatch? |
Ivany2008 07/09/21 8:40:42 PM #3 | I'd need context. There are times when I as a Rein will go into the enemy team if there are 4 there and we have 6, and I expect my healers to heal me. It's the only way I can get proper ult charge. Fire Strike is alright now and then, but a rein big swinging into an enemy team can get full ult in just a couple swings, which can easily turn a fight. Same with a Zarya at full power. She can melt people if healed properly. Obviously not going full in on 6 people, but 4 shouldn't be a problem. On the other side of the tank spectrum, I have switched to Roadhog or Ball just to get healing because my healers were too busy with dpsing or not being in voice chat to hear me say lets go left or focus heals; or they will focus on the person who only lost 10 % health. Not always, there are some great healers out there, but think about it from the other side of things. My goal as a tank is to press the enemy line either for the point or the payload. I'm not doing my job if I just stand there with my shield up as a Reinhardt, hence the type of plays that Flats uses. If I'm dying as a Reinhardt to 3 people with no Zen or Anna to prevent me from getting healing, and both my healers are up, then there's an issue that needs to be addressed. On the other hand, its all communication. You don't push as a tank when you only have 2 and they have 4. |

Ivany2008 07/09/21 5:52:56 PM #13 | goats don't necessarily run away at least in the real world. Goats are kind of assholes and charge people just because they can. If you want to have a unique encounter do something along the lines of: You hear a distant loud sound. As you try to process what could have made that sound, the earth beneath your feet starts to shake. Suddenly, the trees from a nearby forest start to part, and with one loud bang a multitude of them come crashing down towards your party. Eyes as black as night pierce your gaze and you realize what has just happened. A herd of gigantic goats come charging over the fallen trees towards your party. A nearby farmer screams and shouts "run for your lives". Engage combat. Then you could use the old "the chemicals that we use to increase the size of our crops must have leaked into the nearby river, causing animals who drink it to grow larger than normal." |
Topic | Chicken sandwiches > fast food burgers. |
Ivany2008 07/09/21 1:37:21 AM #12 | It really depends on where its from. I'm not a massive fan of Mcds chicken sandwiches, and BK for some awful reason puts way too much mayo on theirs. On the other hand... Wendys spicy chicken is amazing. Side note, can't stand Wendys beef burgers. At least where I live the cook is off and the seasoning really sucks. Luckily, we just got a 5 guys so I never have to worry about that. Mind you, 5 guys is stupid expensive, so its only a treat for now and then. |

Ivany2008 07/09/21 12:10:06 AM #7 | MedeaLysistrata posted... how do you know if you need a cpap machine? For me it was because I had a constant cold that wasn't going away for a good 2 years. I might disappear for a couple weeks but it would be back without fail. That said, my cpap specialist has told me that if you just tell your doctor how you have been feeling the past few years and would like to get a sleep study done to see if it could possibly be your sleep, he will refer you to a sleep study location. That said, they aren't cheap. 2 grand bare minimum. I was lucky... and kind of unlucky at the same time. I was deemed severe at 42 interruptions an hour when the regular is 5. What that means is that during the night, I was not breathing 42 times an hour, be that snoring, coughing or just not breathing. My insurance covered the cost of the cpap, and while it is a pain in the ass to keep clean, literally have to clean it once a week or I'll get pnemonia. You know if you've gotten to that point if over the course of a period of time you've had a complete change in mood and thought process. Like thoughts of dread and nothing is working for you, and you literally can't process things as well as you used to. DespondentDeity posted... you gotta go try to sleep in a room with a bunch of people watching you with a bunch of sensors and shit hooked up to you Not true anymore. Mine was a take home monitor. Now that I have a cpap machine, I sleep amazingly, my mood has shot through the roof to the point where I'm actually sociable, and best of all, I actually do shit now. I'm half tempted to get back into streaming during the nights, which is something I gave up 3 years ago. |

Not as much as that, but his personal best was 580/590ish? Edit: I stand corrected... 610 deadlift, 468 bench, and 562 squat. He came first in his provincial tournament. If I took the time to actually build up my strength, I could probably pull more than him, only because of genetics giving me a little boost, but I don't think I'd ever be able to pull 700. |
