I tried it originally about 10 years ago but I didn't understand the game. I think I was too immature as a gamer.

Really great game. I can't believe I didn't play this for so long!

VERY long...Longer than it should be. Still liked it a lot. Definitely worth the price I paid for it (approx $20).

It feels like an open world Last of Us, albeit slightly under budget.

8.2/10, would buy a sequel.

Interesting, I value games mostly in the inverse way. Although the total playtime they give me is somewhat of a factor, I care more about the experience overall. I'd be glad to play a short game even if it's very short as long as it's a fantastic experience to back it up (to an extent though).

As for my favorite genres, I'm still very new to playing indie games as a whole, so don't have too many specific favorites at the moment and just love exploring new stuff in the indie scene, considering I was mostly a big budget triple a games kind of guy for a while. The genre I'm most familiar with here in the indie scene are rogue likes, but I've only played two of them so far: Binding of Isaac Rebirth and Hades. Hades was my GotY last year, absolutely loved that game, put in 100+ hours into it and also around 80 or so into Binding of Isaac.

Open to pretty much anything though, which is why I was curious to what your favorite was of the whole initial list (which you technically didn't answer yet :P haha)

You sound like me about 3 years ago until I discovered Hollow Knight.

I thought indie games were for children. Boy was I wrong!

I hate picking favorites :(

I should note that Morbid is not a rogue game.

Moonlighter and Children of Morta are dungeon ROGUELITES (dying lets you level up because you gain gold or artifacts.)

In Children of Morta, you slay enemies/objects to gain gold and then you can level up stats permanently after death or even during gameplay (but these level up effects last only are until you die). Also, after dying you will meet new family members with different, unique abilities. This reminded me of Rogue Legacy! But beware, do not use one member too often otherwise they will begin the journey with less strength and health. In order to mitigate that, you can always start the journey with a different relative.

In Moonlighter, there's a quality shop keeping aspect. I found it very interesting compared to other games in the genre. You level up by entering dungeons and finding artifacts, items, etc. Then you go back to town after dying or by manually leaving (but at a proportionate monetary penalty) to sell them to townfolk for coin.

Children of Morta definitely has the better combat system. But I most certainly enjoyed the shop keeping elements of Moonlighter. In both games, as long as you beat a main boss, then that boss is forever gone (aka roguelite).

Stereden: Binary Stars is a roguelike (permadeath) heavily on sale. It's a shoot-'em-up 2D scroller.

Hammerwatch is also on sale... I believe it's a roguelite?

Permadeath = NeuroVoider/Dead Cells

Progressive deaths = Moonlighter, Children of Morta, Rogue Legacy (not on sale, but still available on PSN)

That's just off the top of my head.

Are you new to the Roguelite/ like genre?

Just noticed it's on sale on PSN. Only costs $3.49. Also, so is the game Steredenn binary stars (Shoot em up Roguelike) and Hammerwatch too.

I did my research for the past 20 minutes and found out it's a twin stick roguelike (permadeath) with optional co oo play.

Almost every review seems very favorable.

Think I might pick this up!

There are a few good Indie titles as well on the under 20 bucks sale.

I will UPDATE this post.

Morbid the seven acolytes: I've yet to play it but it's got great reviews and it looks like almost a 2d Dark Souls/roguelite? I will most certainly purchase it when it's a little cheaper.

Horizon Chase Turbo: this was a free PS Plus game a couple years ago. I fucking loved it. And if you love old school racers like Top Gear/OutRun, then this is a no-brainer. A-

Hotline Miami collection: B+ overhead 2D shooter. Awesome times!

Neurovoider- twin stick rogueLIKE (permadeath) with great reviews. Never tried it myself though.

Yeah sure. As well as whatever other list you had in mind too, why not?

For me, I value a game highly based on how many hours it gives me. It's not my only rating but it's often a huge factor.

Observation is a great game. It's a sleeper hit. Its reviews are generally favorable but you don't hear much about it. For $11 and change you will not get 11 tours out of it on a single run but you will get about seven hours. If you enjoy space titles, and there's not many out there, you will definitely like Observation without a single doubt in my mind. Especially if you like the idea of being an AI... as you Scour for clues, solving puzzles and unraveling mysteries. If you have PS now, you can stream it for free.

Kona is a $3 game that will get you six hours worth of gameplay. I think it got me about 7. I like this a lot because you have a great winter theme and a good story.

Hue- I hadn't heard much about this game until I Googled it and saw it's got great reviews. If you get it in the Indie bundle pack I was referring to in my original post you can get three games for a 1.49. I've already put a half an hour into this game and I absolutely adore it. The music is beautiful and it's so relaxing. Audio is usually not a big thing for me but the audio just struck me. Apparently it's a 5-hour game. How can you not get that for a 1.49 plus two more games?!

Really everything in original post is worthy of a try.

What are your fav genres?

A bit off-topic, but do PS1 and PS2 classics and PSP games still go on sale?

I've been eyeing Growlanser, Legend of Dragoon, Tactics Ogre, and Xenogears for a while.

PS4 store has PS2 games on sale here and there. Not in this sale, though. Usually, they're 50% off every few weeks.

As for PS1 games, only the PS3 store has these games, but they are not "on sale". However, they are reasonably priced between 5.99 and 9.99.

INTRO: If you EVER, EVER, EVER had your eye on an indie game (EXCEPT FIREWATCH: THIS GAME IS LITERALLY NEVER ON SALE ON PSN), then NOW THRU MARCH 10TH is your chance to score big on great indie titles.

Observation- Devolver Digital does it again! This is a superb sci-fi outer space thriller. You control the A.I. of a spaceship. You will scan environments, solve puzzles and uncover some mysteries. Liked this a lot. B

Moonlighter- This is a solid dungeon roguelite with shop keeping gameplay. It doesn't have the best combat around but the gameplay loop is fun. Run through dungeons, find artifacts, return to your shop and sell it to locals for coin. Upgrade your weapons & slay beasts.B-

Kona- an enjoyable Firewatch-like game set in snowy Canada in the 70s. Love the snow\y setting. Mysteries ahoy! B-

Children of Morta- good ROGUELITE. Similar to Rogue Legacy in that you unlock new family members with unique fighting styles. B-

Seasons After Fall- cute 2D platformer where you control all four seasons to solve puzzles. Although one puzzle is really fucking hard and I had to look it up. B-

Ghost of a Tale- you're a mouse and you're stealthy. RPG. Fun times. Underrated I believe. B-

Iconoclasts- Solid metroidvania. HEAVY on dialogue/story lol. Good combat B-

Slender The Arrival- for $1.99, it's worth a play trough. Decent horror title albeit low budget. C

The Messenger - Ninja 2D platformer. Slightly overhyped IMO but still a good game. C+

Slain Back from Hell: 2D action platformer. Really enjoyed this. Gritty and dark universe (almost soulslike). Good rockin' tunes, too! B-

The Bridge- At $1.49 this puzzle game is worth your while. It'll keep you occupied for a few hours, for sure. Interesting physics puzzles.

Indie collection featuring Hue, Dear Esther and The Flame in the Flood. 3 games for $1.49?! ez no brainer!

Hue is fucking fantastic. It's a 2d platformer where you have to use color schemes to traverse the world and solve puzzles. I love it and most reviews reflect this sentiment too! B+

Haven't Play Dear Esther yet. A short game about a murder apparently? First person.

The other game is a survival game. The Flame in the Flood. Generally positive reviews, just not my kind of game. I literally bought this collection just for Hue.

Hayfever- after tons of research, this appears to be a Super Meat Boy meets Celeste type of game. I have not yet played it but I will download it very soon. I made sure to scour the internet for videos and reviews and they're all very, very positive. You have to Traverse Four Seasons using a very quirky and innovative sneeze mechanic.

Talos Princple- never tried it but it's a puzzle game similar to The Witness, apparently.

Crosscode- this gets a lot of praise. I have not yet played it though.

Visage- horror title with killer graphics. But I have not played it. Reviews seems legitimately positive, though.

Titan Souls- How did I skip this? 2D Shadow of the Colossus. I need to get this.

Broforce- Rambo in 2D? Looks great. Will purchase this soon.

Mark of the Ninja Remastered. This, along with FIREWATCH, might be the only indie games not on sale right now (but this game was on sale like 1 month ago). Really good 2D stealth game. It was on sale for $8.99 and I had a blast. 83/100.
