They're lying or not understanding how logic works. Either way they shouldn't be taken seriously.
The problem is the question of when a life becomes a life is not something that can be easily answered by science

my wife is pregnant right now, were both very liberal and pro-choice, but also were thrilled to see our babys heartbeat on an ultrasound at 8 weeks, and would be devastated if we lost it, even though in theory we believe people should have the right to abort. Yes its just a fetus right now but its also our baby

Yep, pretty much. People trying to hand wave the negative aspect of abortion just seems dishonest.

It should be both possible to agree that abortion should be legal and that society should aim to reduce unwanted pregnancies happening, aim to provide support for people who end up deciding to keep the unwanted pregnancy, and also have it possible to abort if that's what is ultimately wanted.

Yeah, I tend to think a large pushback is due to how people are interpreting "white". There's definitely an academic way of defining whiteness that can lead to misunderstanding, and there probably should be more of a push to be more accommodating in the language used. People are sensitive and are going to read into things negatively otherwise.

In my school, if you performed well in the non-AP classes, they would jump you to AP and ANY student could go to the AP courses, and if you couldn't handle it, they'd fail you or bump you down to non-AP.

I have a mom who taught AP and non-AP and she would encourage kids who qualified for AP to go to AP (based on performance), but she said a lot of the kids not in AP simply would not be able to handle AP classes based on their non-AP performance.

And they're obviously saying it's not like that in all schools.

I won't disagree that clearer writing and more examples would be helpful

Regarding post #1.

What would it take for you to say that the school system has policies that aren't fully inclusive and causes inconvenience to non-white people? Your statement that it can't possibly be inconvenient to non white people because other countries have similar curriculum isn't really a strong one to me. There's more to school systems than just the fact they teach the same subject.

MajesticFerret posted...
Last I checked, this is also offered to POC... If they think there are schools that don't have enough funding and they need more funding to get more people involved in this, they can say that, but this heavily implies that taking advanced courses for people who are ahead of the curricula, is racist because there's a larger percentage of POC who can't keep up...

I'd think the claim is that the method in which students are offered AP class placement can be questioned. If counselors are more prone to offer it to certain students, then that's an issue considering it gives them a significant boost in not only getting into college (higher gpa for being in AP class) but also saves them time in college by letting them test out of subjects early on.

This is great news that these poor dogs were rescued and I hope this practice continues to be stamped out.

What are your thoughts on the 30 million cows and 130 million pigs that suffer under these conditions and worse in the U.S. every year, being artificially impregnated over and over until their bodies wear out and they are finally killed too, living in terrible conditions where dead animals will just be left to lie there in the stalls, etc.? The whole world needs to take a lesson from these activists (and others like them) and start treating all these sentient beings better.

the greatest difference is those dogs were raised as pets and stolen from their homes, while the pigs were raised as livestock. There is no comparison.

I mean, if some country said they'd start breeding dogs for food as livestock, I'd guess you'd still have an issue with it. In this case, there might not be a comparison, but it isn't the real reason you're against it.
