Comic spoliers? One thing I've disliked about the movies is that they never made it clear that the program that created Black Widow was a Super Soldier program. In the comics she can lift like 800 lbs and outrun Usain Bolt, but I guess they only wanted one Super Soldier Avenger.

Yeah, this is just a terror in Bo1 and more so in Arena's future standard format where there are almost no answers. At least real standard has field of ruin.

I decided to build the deck. I'm a sucker for cheap, stupid combos. First game I got out raced by mono red. Second I had a long game against the life gain heavy version of Book with cleric class. He actually ran one of his faceless havens into my lurrus + selfless savior. Oopsie. Eventually I had a field of ruin and a haven with counter and he scooped. Next was mono green mutate and this guy really wanted to play it out. I had TWO havens with the counters on them and I even let him knock me below 0 life and he still made me beat him.

oh, yeah. Arena is annoying as fuck like that. IIRC you don't have to complete the whole thing to draft though.

As for the Angel Haven combo... I actually first learned about it day 1 and thankfully haven't seen it yet. My guess is that the book gets suspended in std 2022 since there are so few answers in that format, but in regular standard (especially bo3) there are a fair number of answers, you'll just need to make some changes to deal with it. Either that, or wotc decides a two card, six mana nigh indestructible platinum angel is okay.

If you think you can get past four ventures in a game and you don't really have anything that is boosted by finishing a dungeon it's the better choice. There's a lot of card advantage to be had there if you can deal with it taking a little longer to get rolling.

Since the end of the last episode I kept thinking of Star Trek 5, the whole trapped "god" that needs an outside force to save them, and the way it ended made me feel like "yeah, that's how it is, I guess." It's probably Kang, and the WHOLE thing with not just the show but the TVA and everything has been about trying to get someone clever enough to free him pruned so they'd have no choice but to set him free. Of course the TVA is going after Loki and Loki and Loki etc ad infinitum. Eventually one of them had to be clever enough to free him from the end of the universe.

I don't understand that, then. MH2 is only meant for older constructed formats, and is a product that can only happen every couple of years. Hell, there should have never been a Modern Horizons in the first place. It was a terrible idea and only works as a cash grab.

You will never ever ever see a set with that power level pop up in standard and you're crazy if you think a standard legal set should be any where near that strong. I don't know what drugs you have to be on to think this or any regular set should be comparable to a modern horizons set, but you should get off of them.

EDH/Commander is not a constructed format. Its a fun, kitchen-table house rules format that ignores or replaces several rules from constructed rules... and like Modern Horizons, they too get non-standard sets every couple of years that are just for them and could only happen on a rare occasion.

And yes, I addressed how it looks in standard right now.

MH2 isn't standard legal, so that's not really what people are comparing this set to. I'm pretty sure I've pointed that out already. The problem people are having with this set is that it doesn't look like it will have any serious impact on standard. All the new mechanics are clearly for limited, and there almost certainly won't be any new decks coming out of this.

The sets constructed players are really comparing this to are Eldraine and Ikoria, which will continue to be the dominating forces in standard. This set looks weak next to Strix which looks weak next to Kaldheim, so the trepidation is that standard will be virtually the same until rotation. Thankfully if you play on Arena Standard 2022 will be an option to shake things up and see if maybe there are some great cards/decks that just can't survive in a format defined by those two sets.

Like, I understand this is replacing a core set, but releasing this right after MH2 feels like a terrible idea. They usually front load spoilers but there hasnt been a single card spoiled I am remotely interested in playing yet as they all feel fairly weak and uninteresting.
I don't think that's the fault of MH2. There also wasn't a lot to be hyped about from Strixhaven either. Strix did end up providing more worthwhile cards than it seemed like at first, and I'm sure this set will too, but Eldraine (and to some extent Ikoria) overshadows pretty much everything else in standard.

Rogues does get a pretty good card in Krydle, though. Yay... rogues...

So far I'd say Krydle, Wish, Zariel, Dueling Rapier, Gelatinous Cube, Treasure Chest, Circle of Dreams Druid, Xanathar, Sphere of Annihilation, Power Word Kill, and Portable Hole should be Standard playable to some degree.

Xanathar might be fun, or it might make somebody's day the worst ever as they get targeted repeatedly.

Sphere of Annihilation is a card to look out for.

Minion of the Mighty is not how I wanted Kobolds to return to MTG. Not at all. That's not even flavorfully relevant to Kobolds in D&D pre 5th edition, let alone MTG Kobolds. Hell, can 5e Kobolds even do something like that? Way to shit on one of my pet creature types wotc.

Now that I'm seeing them form a cycle, the new man-lands look awful.

Among the side effects of lasik are dry, itchy eyes and MSG said his are already highly sensitive to wind and air. Don't go feeding people bullshit like this when you don't know it's 100% true for everyone. If his eyes got even more sensitive and irritable he could absolutely end up hating it and it's permanent.

The average cost for lasik for both eyes is ~$4500 in the US, and it's considered an elective surgery so that's 100% out of your pocket.

There are also still risks involved, even if it may be less so in the past, and if something goes wrong the procedure is permanent. It may be rare but some people do end up with permanent vision loss.

You should also consider the fact that your eyes don't just heal up in a day and everything is magic. If you get the procedure there are things you won't be able to safely do for months. Sometimes even after a perfectly performed lasik surgery people have had worsened vision because of occurrences in the 2-3 months following the surgery.

It's great that it can give a person perfect vision for 10+ years, but make sure you know what costs and risks you are signing up for before hand.
