yeah Mara has legitimately been one of SMT's staple memes going all the way back to SMT 1. It didn't appear as an enemy in P3 or P4 due to those games not using recruitable/fusible demons as enemies like P5 and mainline SMT do though.

Honestly, the two biggest thing that this game never teaches you about the battle system:

• Ailments/Technical Damage is P5R-levels of broken, as opposed to being the afterthought they were in the original P5
• Instakill skills work on everything less than Dire Shadows/Request Shadows/Wardens/Monarchs. This includes the various mini-bosses that are just bigger versions of normal enemies, as long as they don't null Bless/Curse

It seems to me that job 2 is financially inferior between the commute, no benefits, and no real guaranteed hours past the intro period. You're basically betting that they'll hire you full time before you need to find a more stable job. If it does pay off and you get a full time position out of it relatively quickly, then I'm sure you'll be happy with it in the long run, though.

I would absolutely not take that job, but that's just me.

The only thing to note about leaving/reentering a jail is that it does cause defeated mobs to respawn.

But even then, they really could've implemented healing as an option on the checkpoints (Same as leaving already is) and just had that trigger the respawns instead. A definite miss on the designer's part here.

About how long is this game? HLTB says 34 main and 45 with extras, but not sure what extras are in this case.

My final time for plat trophy was right around 60 hours. I don't think less than that is realistic unless you're going with "this is theoretically the fastest possible way to do it, but you'll be bored out of your skull doing so"

I think my first playthrough (All sidequests and such) was probably in the 40-45h range though, so that sounds right.

It's a fantastic game for anybody who's interested in SMT and never played the original. But "HD Remaster" is a good term for it. It does not appear to be massively different from the original.

It's got some QOL around the fusion system as mentioned (Original version's fusion system was more like Persona 3/4 for skill inheritance if you've ever played those, this one's more like what you'd be used to with SMT4A). I've also heard that a quicksave system was added, though I haven't actually checked that myself (The original game has a terminal system like SMT4/A, but they also functioned as save points and you could not save anywhere)

It's also got voice work and revamped graphics.

I think the difficulty of the game is largely overstated outside of three specific spots (The very first battle, as mentioned, you can lose on hard mode through no fault of your own, then there are two other bosses that are quite rough especially if you haven't grasped the battle system), but it's certainly more difficult than your average JRPG, and I would call it more difficult than 4/Apocalypse on the whole too.

Unless you've never played an (or are especially bad at) action RPGs, hard should be fine. You can change the difficulty whenever you want regardless iirc, so if you're having trouble just bump it down (or vice-versa if you're finding it too easy)

I honestly prefer the presentation of P3P to the original P3's, but I can see why people would disagree.

The point-and-click visual novel style navigation is great imo. The loss of cutscenes is the main point of contention.

oh, yeah, as far as new content goes P3P is arguably king with female MC and the slew of adjusted scenes/new social links that brings

I also don't think the changed presentation is as big of a loss as some people make it out to be, even if it is a definite negative.

It's a significant improvement over P4, and there's literally no reason to play vanilla P4 over it (especially since the access issue is resolved by the steam release). But in the end, it's still fundamentally the same game even with the improvements.

I lied, it's not.

I didn't do any particular grinding or farming beyond clearing all requests as they came available (both first play and merciless NG+), killing all dire shadows (Killed Sendai 3x in NG+, all others once each in first play and NG+) and got it off the Mini-boss Legion near the end of the Osaka jail. No special grinding required, and if I hadn't killed the Sendai dire shadow more than once I almost certainly would've hit max bond off the jail's boss.

Yeah if you want to max out Yoshizawa you only have a small handful of daytime slots to use for other things. Nights are a fair bit more flexible.

I don't know what's up with Ryuji's link specifically though. He may be unavailable until You regroup the party, or maybe until Yoshizawa re-awakens, I guess? But I'm just speculating, and it sounds like you might be past both of those events anyways.

Trying to max out bond for the achievement is hell.

It seems like the only way to do it reasonably is to play through Merciless, then when you hit the endgame there, you go back and farm whichever dire shadow you have the easiest time with (Probably Sendai/Kyoto/Abyss, with the Ice Weakness + ability to spam technical phys/gun hits, or Okinawa/Osaka with Elec Weakness instead of ice? Or request Metatron is maybe just as good if you're willing to sit through the final boss fight again), and even then it's still probably gonna be a big grind at the end

PS4s were hard to find for that long? I got mine around a month after they were released. My wife and I went to Babies R Us, and decided to swing by Toys R Us before we left, and they had two of them just sitting on the shelves. I assumed they were easy to find because of that.

I wouldn't consider it a spoiler to say that Strikers does not have any social link system, but it still does a good job of building on the group and making them feel cohesive.

If by "The S. Links" you mean the characters themselves, I still don't really consider it a spoiler, but just in case - No, they generally do not beyond the Phantom Theives themselves

This is also true. Merciless in general is easier than Hard for even slightly knowledgeable/intelligent players for this exact reason - Weaknesses/Crits/Technicals hitting for 3x damage is the defining feature of the difficulty, and quite exploitable.

The easiest to execute strat is probably (spoilering in case you don't want it) Using elemental damage items to baton pass your way around so that the party member who naturally carries the weakness skill and Joker are the third and fourth, and let the baton pass power up carry you to massive damage numbers to take all four out with AoE magic

I am fine with this. I hate saying it. I hate it so much. But this bill does need to be passed quickly.

Frankly, the fact that the bill hasn't passed yet is kind of disgusting. I know there are processes involved, but this is just getting silly.

Costco actually has a long reputation of paying and treating their employees well tbh
