The big problem with MBTI is the big problem with IQ. It's one of those pseudoscientific parts of psychology where people think they can distill an extremely complicated behavior like "extroversion" or "intelligence" down to a single number that describes how much of that thing someone has. It completely ignores all context. People's behavior in a laboratory setting or during a standardized test will not generalize to other settings.

Story starts really compelling but then degrades. Fortunately the party has a great dynamic.

The story has a lot of really dumb things in it.

How did Tidus have no inkling that Yuna was going to die until they were weeks/months into their journey? How was there no pattern of unusually-final sounding remarks for him to pick up on? Did he never ask Yuna about when her dad got back from defeating Sin? Did no other party member express an emotion for TIdus to hear when Yuna wasn't around? Also this reveal happened when Home was being destroyed.

What is up with people being unsent? Certain people just don't turn into fiends when they die. The criteria for it are extremely vague. If you just want to live hard enough then, uh, you get to. Great.

Also the story leans way too hard on characters going to sleep and waking up in the next plot location. It's how Jecht and Tidus get into the future, Tidus ends up in Besaid, the party ends up on Bikanel, and the party ends up fighting Braska's Final Aeon.

My pet theory is that Tidus falls to his death in the opening cutscene and the entire time you're controlling him is his dying brain hallucinating a whole adventure in the half second it takes him to die.

It sounds like being an occasional smoker is taking a toll on your ability to date the people you want and you should quit. "Don't smoke" is such a strong mental block for most people that its absence is odd.

Things aren't generally "dealbreakers," but it would bother me. It would remind me of a bunch of people I outgrew.

Is Quest 64 story driven? I don't know what else drives Quest 64. The *whole* plot is "your dad was looking for the guy who stole this book and so you, a 10-year-old boy, have to go kill a bunch of bad guys. That's literally it.

heh i like the octo vs bread match

the octo song bugs me because it feels like the guitar is playing the wrong chords during the little walkups at 2:01-2:05 and 2:15-2:18. Like it should be going outside the key and playing some chromatic chords rather than simple walkups

bready steady go lacks anything that annoys me and the energy level stays pretty consistent throughout and it's got a million little sections

actually i listened to the stuff i disliked in the octo song a bunch more times and tried to find a better chord progression for what i was hearing and couldn't so i have changed my mind and now i prefer octopunch to bready steady go

You Were There is cool. Singer sounds like she's (he's? apparently it's a child so who knows) singing backwards. Sometimes the drums feel literally completely random in a way that I don't like though.

Bingo Highway is a lot more instantly likable imo. Liked the dissonant chiptune solo. I guess you can afford to get really harmonically weird for a general audience when the whole song spends all its time on one chord. It kind of spends a lot of time in a holding pattern towards the end but I immediately went back to listen to it again so I clearly liked it. And I liked it at least as much the second time. Probably my favorite song so far.

Ikou is not an interesting song. It's like the composer thought they'd get a pat on the back for writing a song in a weird time signature and that's the whole song. Random 8th notes in the strings and piano and abruptly-ending measures and that's about it. FFX's OST has lots of songs like this, go listen to the Penance battle theme if you like this. Or Hollow Bastion from Kingdom Hearts.

The Fine Draw is cute as heck. Lots of fun little rhythmic things and spicy chords. And it loops for me, how nice <3

Y'all aren't appreciating how good video game writing has gotten. Final Fantasy 1 basically has the worst story possible. It basically boils down to elemental demons did random elementally-appropriate bad things for no reason hundreds of years ago so you gotta kill them. And there's a SURPRISE TWIST at the very end.

About four centuries ago, a group of people known as the Lufenian used the wind crystal's power to craft a giant aerial station ("Flying Fortress") and airships, and watched their country decline as the wind crystal went dark. Tiamat, the fiend of wind, waged a battle against them, taking over their flying fortress and the Mirage Tower. A Lufenian called Cid hid an airship on the south continent.

About two centuries ago, Kraken, the fiend of water, used violent storms to sink the water shrine that served as the center of an ocean-based civilization to use it as his personal hideout and to darken the water crystal.

Shortly before the Light Warriors embark on their journey, Lich, the fiend of earth, darkens the earth crystal and plagues Melmond as the plains and vegetation decay. At an unspecified point, a sage called Lukahn tells of a prophecy that four Warriors of Light will save the world in a time of darkness.
Marilith, the fiend of fire, awakens two centuries early as a response to the Warriors of Light's appearance and darkens the crystal of fire.

The four Warriors of Light appear, each carrying a darkened crystal, one of each element. They arrive at Cornelia, a powerful kingdom that has witnessed the kidnapping of its princess, Sarah, by a rogue knight named Garland who wants to conquer the kingdom. The Warriors of Light travel to the ruined Chaos Shrine in the corner of Cornelia, defeat Garland, and return Princess Sarah home. Traveling east, the Warriors of Light learn a dark elf wizard named Astos has been terrorizing the area surrounding the southern continent's inland sea, Elfheim, stealing a crystal the witch Matoya needs for sight, putting the prince of the elves into a coma, and stealing the crown of a minor western king. As they travel, they liberate the town of Pravoka from a band of pirates and acquire the pirates' ship for their use. The Warriors of Light travel across the water, but remain trapped within the Aldean Sea, in the center of a large continent. A large rock blocks the only exit from the sea. There is a group of dwarves in Mount Duergar trying to remove the rock, but they find themselves unable to proceed without Nitro Powder.

The Nitro Powder is contained in a locked room in Castle Cornelia, the only key to which is held by the sleeping elven prince. They retrieve the stolen crown, only to find the minor king was actually Astos. After defeating Astos, the Warriors of Light recover Matoya's crystal and return it to the witch, who makes them an herb (Jolt Tonic in later releases) to awaken the elven prince. The prince gives the warriors the Mystic Key, with which they travel to Castle Cornelia and retrieve the Nitro Powder, which they take to the dwarves to help them finish the canal. With the rock cleared, the Warriors of Light proceed into the greater world.

Sailing to Melmond, the Warriors of Light seek out and destroy the Fiend of Earth, the Lich, who is responsible for the earth's rotting. The Warriors of Light enter the volcano Mount Gulg and defeat the Fiend of Fire, Marilith, who was awakened two hundred years prematurely by the defeat of Lich. The Warriors acquire an airship and visit the Cardia Islands to meet with the dragon king Bahamut who tasks them to survive the Citadel of Trials and getting a Rat's Tail as proof of their deeds. When they return he upgrades their job classes.

The Warriors defeat the Fiend of Water, the Kraken, in an underwater palace near Onrac, and Tiamat, the Fiend of Wind, in the Flying Fortress. The Four Fiends defeated, and the crystals restored, the Warriors find their quest is not yet over: The power of the four restored crystals is still
being absorbed by an unknown entity through a time portal located in the Chaos Shrine.

Once they travel 2,000 years into the past, the Warriors of Light meet the four arch-fiends newly created by Chaos. They defeat them, before Chaos can send the arch-fiends into the future to bring Garland back to the past, shortly before he would die during the fight with the Warriors of Light, and darken the crystals to steal their energy. Chaos turns out to be Garland who was not killed, but brought back into the past by the Four Fiends and empowered by the energy stolen from the four crystals to become Chaos. Garland created the time loop to live forever.

The Warriors of Light, upon defeating Chaos, return to their own time. Having broken the time loop, peace returns to the world. While the people are unaware the ordeal took place, and though the Warriors themselves do not recall their adventure either, order has been restored, and the darkness has been vanquished.

My actual hot take answer is Persona 5. I'd say Persona 3 but I literally do not remember a single story event in it.

You should just ask about the hours. If you feel unconfident in the answer, let them know your concerns and see if they respond reassuringly. The interview is a 2-way street.

A startup is just a small business that's growing. You aren't necessarily going to have to work long hours just because you're at a startup. You're definitely more likely to run into unrealistic expectations at a startup when compared to another company, but it's not a foregone conclusion. Stereotypes exist for a reason, but they don't apply across-the-board.

Yeah. Fuyuhiko and Hiyoko were both awful jackasses in chapters 1 & 2, but the circumstances behind Fuyuhiko at least justify his attitude (which make his subsequent faceturn that much more impactful). Hiyoko is just an obnoxious brat, and suddenly we're supposed to feel bad for her because her friend is dead (which, get in line when it comes to interpersonal dynamics in DR2), and there's never a point where she's like "maybe I'm being shitty and that's why I only had the one real friend". It's just "I MADE A MEMORIAL FOR MAHIRU AND I'M GONNA CRY BECAUSE YOU ALL THINK IT'S WEIRD" and "I WANT TO HAVE A PUNK ROCK CONCERT IN MEMORY OF MAHIRU!"

The catalyst wouldn't have been Mahiru's death, it would've been Mikan's. She would've realized the bullying contributed to Mikan committing a double murder and grown from that. You can't learn to be self-sufficient just because your mom figure died. You can learn to stop bullying when confronted with its consequences.

I don't think it's very fun! It does a pretty bad job of showing you what to do next.

My spouse has a coworker who decided to only teach the novel he wrote himself about chilling out in Hawaii and plays guitar while the kids are testing. This is 10th grade.

He also decided to jump a fence and run away in a lockdown instead of locking down.

he hasnt been fired because the English department is already down 60% of its teachers due to the pandemic.

The moral of the story is some schools are just screwed right now and they know the teachers suck and nobody will replace them

Yeah the dumbest people I knew were the ones who became teachers lol, then I started reflecting on my own instruction. If I ever have kids I'm homeschooling lol

Funny enough that was the teacher's advice too. Sister emailed "hi teacher, practice problems please?" Then teacher emailed back "Google it lol." Like no, YOU Google it and choose good search results. That's your job. Anyone can find a firehose of algebra 2 nonsense online. Curate it a little with your math knowledge. Augh.

The algebra 2 teacher has been absent for WEEKS, because she's also coaching the girls' soccer team and the team is pretty far in some tournament or other. They haven't been able to get a substitute because covid (lol) so the person they have in front of the class is some babysitter who literally can't even solve the problems. It really and truly is as ridiculous as it sounds. They watch a video of the teacher doing a couple math problems. The TA goes "uh did everyone get that, because I sure didn't." Then they do some practice problems on a worksheet where the answer key is wrong because the absent teacher sucks at math too. It's every bit as ridiculous as it sounds.

I've been working with my sister to overcome the ridiculous non- instruction she's been receiving and she can actually understand the material well once someone actually explains it to her and works through her misunderstandings (shocking!) But what are the kids without a Math Guy in their family supposed to do? My sister was saying she felt like this was as high as she could go in math, which is absolutely absurd. She's otherwise a straight-A student.

Like, do you know how fundamental algebra 2 is? These kids will struggle in precalculus and then calculus. They will struggle in physics and AP computer science. I can't believe they chose soccer over math. What a ridiculous school. I'm so mad.

I'm using a walkthrough to get myself unstuck in FF6 because I hate the song that's playing and it has been playing for like 30 minutes. It's a 4 bar loop in C minor that plays twice, then THE SAME 4-bar loop in E minor that plays twice. It's literally 4 bars of actual composition. Not a single thing changes except the key. I hate this stupid song.
