That's pretty cool, didn't know. Might look into some systems for that.

Also I guess I enjoy typing stuff out rather than saying it. But I don't have experience with verbal roleplay really.
Well there may be better systems out there for that, i made that one up. I'm always looking for ways to speed things up

And hey, you like what you like, it's all good

I've never seen it get quite that bad, that's generally against the rules lol. Can you do large scale fights in DnD?
I have developed large battle systems, yes. Usually I make large groups (like 20 plus) attack in groups and give them a semi high armor class, but only 1 hp to help things move along faster

Can't do that often or for very long, though, because constant combat can get tiring and boring

Yeah, that would be the major difference I guess. Dice combat is probably more stimulating than text combat.
From what I remember, they would just write the thing they wanted to happen and it happened

That could end up wild as fuck if left unchecked lol

Yeah. It's like DnD but you just write everything out. I guess it adds the inner dimension of the character to the story. I guess text roleplay usually gets pigeonholed into sex stuff but there is also a lot of DnD style stuff that is just the same fare over text
Ah I got ya. I had a buddy that was into online roleplaying but i don't think dice or checks of any kind were involved

Get a better DM lol. Any DM worth their salt knows how to let plans go sideways and not fudge the numbers when PCs realize they need to kill someone before you wanted them to die.

In my campaign, the main villain was traveling with the PCs for a bit and I was scared to death they were going to figure out he was the main villain and knife him in their sleep. They never did, but if they had, I would have rolled with it rather than pretending he had 5,000 hp and skin like full plate.
Had a similar thing going with one of my campaign main villains. My players killed a lot of innocent people but never suspected the calm elf of being a devil summoner lol

I always just tell my players if someone has plot armor, which isn't often at all, and that they can do pretty much whatever they want in the confines of the world i have set up

My players have fucked up my plans so many times lol. And that's how you learn how to wing it

The most important thing is finding an agreeable group.
Roleplay vs. rollplay kills off D&D groups faster than anything else, and "serious" vs "beer!" is a close second.
I've always played as "we will roleplaying, but it will be goofy af." And then had about 80% actual gameplay. Not just combat, but plenty of other hurdles to tackle, sometimes even requiring my players to do (often dumb) physical things

I've never allowed alcohol in my games. I know that would turn into "screw this lets get drunk"

I was part of the "feedback community" on 5E, and sent WotC a treatise on turning D&D into a sort of object-oriented box model thing about classes and skills and stuff. A tiny handful of it looks to have actually made it to the end product, but I suspect they mostly thought I was crazy.
